Chapter 3099: Locked

This was a vast wilderness like an endless ocean, with towering ancient trees and lush vegetation. The air was filled with swirling mist that obscured the starlight, casting the ground below into darkness.

Bathed in moonlight, one could hear the low roars of beasts, and sudden gusts of wind howled like the wails of vengeful spirits.

In the dead of night, no one in their right mind would wander this eerie place. Two words: dangerous. Three words: very dangerous.

In one part of the wilderness, the soil was rich and black, half-covered with beast bones. A massive tree grew there, occasionally dropping ripe fruits that filled the air with the scent of decay.

If anyone were present, they would be astonished, for the earth was shifting, as if something were about to burrow out from below.

And indeed, something did emerge.

To be precise, it was a person—a toddler, about one or two years old, chubby and pink, though caked in dirt from who knows how long it had been buried underground. From a distance, his features were unrecognizable, but he exuded an undeniable presence that couldn't be suppressed, a quality people called: bi ge.

That's right, he was Ye Chen.

His size was still as unimpressive as ever, and his condition was utterly wretched.

Ye Chen shook his little head, his mind foggy and dizzy, with his thoughts and memories all jumbled up.

He didn't panic, instead calming his mind and reflecting on the earlier events. Out of nowhere, a terrifying divine light had appeared in the Yong Heng passage—sinister and domineering. Once struck, one was bound to be sealed, and wounds were nearly impossible to heal. Even his Xue Ji was ineffective against it.

And how had the passage collapsed?

It was forged by the Nü Di with Yong Heng, after all.

After pondering for a long time, he reached a conclusion: it must have been impacted by an external force, shattering the Yong Heng passage. As for that fearsome divine light, it had to be external too—at least, he had never seen anything like it in the heavens.

Once he figured this out, he looked up again, scanning the world around him with deep, shimmering eyes.

This is Zhao Yun's universe.

A few seconds later, he murmured softly, remembering that Zhao Yun's origin perfectly matched the spiritual energy of this realm.

In other words, he had reached his destination.

The trouble was, Ji Ningshuang was missing, and he wasn't even sure if Yao Chi was still alive. He was injured this badly, and she had been hit by the same divine light, so she was probably in no better shape.

You really played a great hand.

Ye Chen sighed, his already pale face darkening further. The "you" he referred to was the Nü Di. A mighty Huang Di-level being, yet she hadn't figured anything out before sending him off! She almost got me killed, and now my wife is missing and her fate unknown— all thanks to you.

"Boss, we can't get out." Hun Dun Huo called out, with Hun Dun Lei and Hun Dun Ding jumping around in the small world.

"If you can't get out, then don't." Ye Chen replied casually. The small world was sealed, so of course they couldn't escape.

Roar! Roar!

Suddenly, beast roars echoed, and in the darkness, swathes of ancient trees were snapped. The heavy ground shook with thuds, as a violent aura spread wildly.

Soon, a massive creature came into view: a demon wolf, fully three to five zhang in size, pitch-black and engulfed in flames. Its enormous wolf eyes glowed with a savage red.

It was a very dedicated wolf, prowling for food in the middle of the night instead of sleeping. And in its search, it had found this spot.

Glancing with its big eyes: Hey? There's a little thing here, perfect for a snack.

Ye Chen was still gazing at the sky, completely ignoring the demon wolf. Even locked as I am, I'm still a quasi Huang Di. If I just stand here, can you even bite through me?

The demon wolf didn't stop, striding forward with its proud wolf paws, licking its red tongue, a hint of frustration in its eyes. It had no idea how a human had ended up in this wilderness, but this child's blood energy was quite pure—not your average human. Swallowing him would surely taste good.

"My aura of intimidation is locked too." Ye Chen muttered to himself.

Otherwise, a mere demon wolf wouldn't dare approach. In his normal state, even a trace of his presence could crush it hundreds of times over.

That said, this strange force was extraordinarily dominant. Aside from his cultivation, physical body, and basic mobility, pretty much everything else was sealed. At first glance, he looked no different from an ordinary child.

I need to find Zhao Yun as soon as possible.

Ye Chen took a deep breath. He had no idea where Ji Ningshuang had ended up, and in his current awkward state, seeking out Zhao Yun might be more straightforward.

With Zhao Yun's talents, he was at least a major force in this universe. Finding him would make locating his wife easier, and maybe together they could break the seal in his body.

With that thought, he stood up again.

At the same time, the demon wolf arrived, extending a claw to poke Ye Chen like a plaything, then pop him into its mouth like a skewer.

The demon wolf's eyes showed even more frustration. It looked at its own claw, then at Ye Chen.

The demon wolf shook its massive head. It could understand the words but couldn't speak them. It was still figuring out how to devour Ye Chen. This human child seemed to be quite a treasure.

Ye Chen took the initiative, leaping onto the demon wolf's head. Though his aura and intimidation were sealed, his physical strength remained, and he hadn't gauged it properly, stomping the demon wolf down with a thud.

"Take me to the strongest one here." Ye Chen sat cross-legged, patting the demon wolf's big head. Once again, he hadn't controlled his strength, leaving the demon wolf's head buzzing and its face full of bewilderment.

This little thing isn't just a treasure—it's a total anomaly!
