Unknown Domain.
Ye Chen stood still, watching the little child dart off into the distance, his brows furrowed deeply. Looking at the speed of that thing, it was clearly going to eat something, and it seemed it was even tastier than he was.
"Besides me, are there others?"
Ye Chen murmured to himself, following along to see who was more delicious than him.
After chasing for a long time, he finally spotted the little child. That small thing was like a scraggly puppy, crawling along the ground, sniffing as it went, as if searching for something. It didn't even notice Ye Chen's arrival.
Seeing this, Ye Chen ascended to the most ethereal height, where a vortex exit lay. This way, if the little child approached, he could instantly escape the Unknown Domain.
With his escape route secured, he gazed down at the vast expanse below. He didn't know what the little child was searching for, but judging by its actions, whatever it was seeking had to be extraordinary.
"After searching all that time, you find it without effort. What a clever little thing you are."
"Are you sure it was the one that devoured that segment of time?"
"If it can eat the Tian Dao, there's nothing it can't swallow."
"How interesting."
In the midst of it all, it seemed as though people were conversing in the ether, their voices oddly familiar—at least to Ye Chen, they sounded that way.
Ye Chen raised an eyebrow and stood at the edge of the exit, scanning the surroundings up, down, left, and right across the vastness. The place had no fixed rules, so he could vaguely hear the words, but only vaguely, without making out the details.
He could hear it, and the strange little child seemed to hear it too. That's why it occasionally lifted its small head, looking around just like Ye Chen.
Moreover, when its gaze swept over Ye Chen, it didn't pause at all, as if it were searching for the future people.
Unfortunately, it was destined not to find them.
The two future people had already left. Ye Chen could no longer detect the aura of the future, nor could he hear those faint, elusive words.
With the future people gone, the little child's gaze swept around once more before settling back on Ye Chen. Unlike before, its eyes now flickered with a hint of confusion.
Ye Chen was quick-witted and turned away immediately, already prepared to flee—he couldn't risk being caught again.
As soon as he moved, the little child chased after him, but it failed to catch Ye Chen. He had already passed through the twisted space and escaped the Unknown Domain, entering the vortex once more.
Emerging from within, it faced no destructive forces. The female emperor of that day had nearly lost her life going in, but coming out was smooth sailing all the way.
"He's out."
At the sight, the eyes of all the supreme beings lit up.
"I told you so!"
Xuan Di laughed, perhaps too excitedly, nearly stepping into the void. If Xuanyuan Di hadn't pulled him back, he would have been utterly destroyed in the emptiness.
Ye Chen crossed the void and landed on the mountain peak, nearly stumbling as he did so—he hadn't quite steadied himself, mainly because his condition wasn't great, with blood dripping all over his body.
Even so, the emperors looked at him with eyes full of awe. Across the upper and lower epochs, he was the first besides the female emperor to enter the vortex and survive. That alone was enough to make him stand above all.
"Is there a living thing inside?"
The female emperor asked, eyeing Ye Chen's wounds, which weren't ordinary— even bloodline limits couldn't easily heal them.
"Yes."
Ye Chen steadied himself and transmitted a divine sense message. He had engraved it earlier, containing everything about the little child, including its strange abilities.
The female emperor read it, her delicate brows furrowing slightly.
As she had suspected, the inside was no simple matter. When she had entered before, she truly hadn't seen that plump little child—perhaps because she hadn't stayed long enough to disturb it.
Meanwhile, Ye Chen casually picked up a wine flask and, in a subtle glance at the female emperor, noticed her expression. She seemed unaware of the little child's origins, her eyes filled with confusion and shock. After all, something that could devour rules was terrifying.
Boom! Rumbling!
The vast sky suddenly rumbled—it was the Tian Dao, likely able to read divine senses, as if it had glimpsed the little child. Its rumbling seemed to express a deep wariness.
Clearly, the Tian Dao was afraid too.
Ye Chen took a swig of wine, his eyes narrowing slightly. He had faintly sensed the Tian Dao's fear, and if even the Tian Dao reacted that way, the little child's origins must be unimaginably vast.
He glanced at the female emperor again.
She stood still as a statue, her clear eyes flickering with uncertain light. As a grand Huang Emperor, she truly felt ignorant in this moment—or perhaps, the world was just too wondrous, full of unknown entities.
"If it comes out, things will get lively here."
Ye Chen said leisurely.
The female emperor didn't refute it. Something that ate everything—if it emerged, it would be anything but quiet. Given enough time, it could devour everything, leaving only emptiness.
However, from the scenes Ye Chen had recorded, it was clear that the strange little child couldn't get out. A glutton like that, knowing there was food outside yet staying put, proved as much.
All in all, the news was good. It not being able to escape was the best outcome; if it did, the world would descend into chaos.
"You two chat away; we won't say a word."
Xuan Di stroked his beard and spoke casually, glancing at Ye Chen and then at the female emperor.
The other emperors also clasped their hands behind their backs.
This couple was truly amusing, discussing things no one else could understand, and no one was explaining. Looking at their blank, baffled faces—didn't it give you a sense of satisfaction?
"Restoring lifespan is possible."
"Just as we anticipated earlier, this situation can be resolved. I'll have to trouble you to take the emperors in again."
"First, return my cauldron to me."
Ye Chen and the female emperor carried on their conversation as if no one else was there, completely ignoring the emperors' feelings. Those darkening faces went unnoticed.
The female emperor waved her hand, returning the cauldron intact.
The great cauldron was back, along with the source stones and such, but the legendary treasured edition was conspicuously absent.
Ye Chen sat down, tucked away his treasures, and shot the female emperor a sideways glance. Truth be told, whether she returned these or not didn't matter much—it was the treasured edition he cared about.
"It ate them."
The female emperor replied with a hint of amusement, her response quite official.
"Great, it's eaten them."
Ye Chen took a deep breath and mentally slapped himself twice. It was his own fault for being so careless—why give them to this woman? Getting them back was out of the question.
So many treasured editions, gone just like that. It hurt more than losing a father.
"How is that possible?"
The emperors exclaimed in shock.
The female emperor had divided her divine sense and shared it with them. Reading it, they were all stunned, filled with wariness toward that strange little child.
For a long time, the emperors remained lost in thought.
When they snapped out of it, their shock was mixed with delight. Only now did they understand why the female emperor had sent Ye Chen into the vortex—it had this deeper meaning.
The Unknown Domain, devoid of rules and laws, was an absolute paradise of fortune for these aging supreme beings on the brink of their lifespan's end. Restoring their longevity was more valuable than anything.
"You're truly a Fu Jiang!"
Xuan Di laughed and slapped Ye Chen on the back, perhaps a bit too hard—Ye Chen spat out the wine in his mouth, spraying it all over him.
But Xuan Di didn't mind at all.
The term "Fu Jiang" fit the Holy Body Supreme perfectly. This seemingly impossible dilemma had been broken through because of him.
In that instant, many of the serious supreme beings bowed respectfully to Ye Chen. Though there were generational differences, he deserved it.
"Rest for now; we'll go again in three days."
The female emperor left those words and vanished, but the emperors clearly saw a strangely smug smile on her face as she turned.
Well, seeing a certain Heavenly Emperor get outsmarted was more satisfying than gaining a treasure. How to put it? Daring to scold me comes with a price.
"Sure, no problem."
Ye Chen responded with a laugh, but his face was darkly overcast, practically glowing with anger. Forget scolding her—he even had an urge to do something far worse.
