"Everything is covered in Bo Wen...?" Song Qi asked, a little confused.
"Bo Wen is what you call Hui Xiang," Su Shan explained. "I can see the physical form of Hui Xiang, and to me, they appear as ripples like waves."
"So, you're saying Xuanwu is now..."
"She is completely enveloped in a Bo Wen called Bu Mie," Su Shan said. "That Bo Wen is incredibly powerful, even starting to create a slight vibrating sensation..."
After hearing this, Song Qi carefully considered the current situation.
Was Xuanwu entirely wrapped in Bu Mie? But was Bu Mie some kind of physical entity?
Why could it envelop a person's body?
"This is getting tricky..." Song Qi frowned and said, "That means Xuanwu's 'eyes' are probably covered by Bu Mie. To attack the eyes, we'd have to break through Bu Mie first."
Su Shan nodded with a troubled expression: "That's about the size of it."
"But Bu Mie is called Bu Mie for a reason... because it can't be broken," Song Qi said. "From now on, all our attacks will likely just vanish without a trace."
Officer Li and Su Shan listened to Song Qi's words, their faces growing heavy, for killing Xuanwu was only the first part of the mission, and Zhuque was waiting for them next.
The tasks assigned to the "Cat" group seemed far more difficult on the surface than those of the "Ji Dao," especially since they couldn't afford to lose.
With a team of less than twenty people, losing even one member would be a huge blow.
So, they couldn't rely on sheer numbers like the "Ji Dao"; they had to use more precise coordination to take down Xuanwu.
Unfortunately, all their strategies involved attacking every part of Xuanwu's body.
Now, not only couldn't they locate the "eyes"... they couldn't even see Xuanwu's skin anymore.
Would these wide-area attack tactics still work?
"If we're not sure, let's just stick to the kill plan," Officer Li said from the side. "From a criminal investigation perspective, once we've set a plan, we shouldn't keep changing it. If we find the enemy's defenses have strengthened, our only counter is to bring even more firepower to bear and keep up the pressure."
"Firepower suppression..." Song Qi nodded. "Good call on firepower suppression."
"Yes," Su Shan added, "I can't spot any more weaknesses right now, but once the fight starts, I should be able to analyze more."
"Alright." Song Qi nodded and shouted to everyone, "Stick to the plan! No matter what we're facing, we press on, but with even greater firepower than before."
"You got it." Luo Shiyi replied from the ground. After speaking, he turned to face Xuanwu. "We're finally ready to take you down together. How many chances are you going to give us?"
Xuanwu tilted her head slightly, seemingly in doubt.
"Chances...?"
"Yeah." Luo Shiyi nodded. "We need to make it back and forth, right? If we can't kill you within a certain time, the mission fails, and you can kill us."
"No need." Xuanwu shook her head. "As long as you truly want to kill me, I'm willing to try no matter how long it takes. But if I see you can't do it, then I'll make my move."
A bead of cold sweat slowly trickled down Luo Shiyi's forehead at that "can't do it."
In other words, from Xuanwu's perspective, all the people she'd killed before died because they were "incapable."
"At least let us try," Luo Shiyi said. "A large-scale group assassination like this must be something you've always dreamed of... right?"
"Exactly, I want to die."
"Then we'll oblige."
With those words, Jian Mo descended, wrapping the entire space in a mysterious force.
Bai Jiu threw a large net down from the sky. Wu Shisan immediately activated Zhi Kong to suspend the net in the air, and then Ma Shi'er released Nuo Yi to spread it out.
The two worked together to unfurl the net in the sky, then simultaneously withdrew their Hui Xiang, allowing the net to slowly descend.
As the net fell, thorns began to sprout from it out of nowhere—Liu Ershiyi had activated Mao Mu. At the same moment, Ning Shiba's Feng Chang took effect, making the thorns grow wildly along the net's ropes in an instant.
Before the net could touch Xuanwu, Wang Ba's Ju Hua followed, precisely enlarging every thorn on it. The thorns now looked like daggers, all pointing downward toward Xuanwu's body.
Xuanwu instinctively moved her feet to step away, but Feng Shiqi suddenly unleashed Bao Shan from the ground. Though Xuanwu had no eyes, the intense flash forced her to step back, right into the net's path, ensnaring her completely.
All the enormous thorns pierced into the void of Xuanwu's body, sending her crashing to the ground.
But it wasn't over yet. A moderate whirlwind began swirling around Xuanwu as its center, tightening the net mixed with thorns in a spiral. Each thorn strained to tear into her body.
The net grew tighter and tighter, wrapping around Xuanwu until her form was distorted and immobilized.
If Xuanwu weren't in her Bu Mie state, the "Cat" team's mission might have succeeded right then. Maybe one of those thorns would have blinded the eyes hidden on her body in the chaos. But as it was, this combined attack proved utterly ineffective.
Song Qi quickly grabbed the bag at his feet and, with Officer Li behind him, opened it and scattered the contents—a pile of small to medium-sized rocks.
As the rocks fell, their shapes began to change—it was Bai Jiu's Ye Hua at work. The stones didn't turn to water or lava; instead, they became liquid while retaining their stony texture.
What should have scattered everywhere clung to Xuanwu's body and the net like oil. Then Bai Jiu withdrew Ye Hua, restoring the rocks to their solid state and turning Xuanwu into a lifelike stone statue.
Song Qi's eyes darkened, and sparks erupted across the statue, triggering a precise and total explosion that swept over Xuanwu. The thorns on the net flew everywhere, and thick smoke billowed into the sky from the open space between the low buildings.
"Boom!"
Just as they'd planned from the start, if Xuanwu had a physical body, this assault would have surely damaged her eyes.
But no one present showed any excitement. They simply watched as Xuanwu emerged from the smoke, tilting her head in confusion once more.
