Chapter 2535: Seeking an Official Position

Chapter 2535: Seeking an Official Position

When Ye Chen and Tai Bai landed, they were already in front of a palace.

This palace was as vast as a mountain, exuding immense grandeur. Immortal energy enveloped it, unable to conceal its supreme majesty.

"Lingxiao Baodian."

Ye Chen glanced at the plaque, his expression turning odd. He had put up with the Nan Tian Men, and now there was even a Lingxiao Baodian. He could tolerate the Lingxiao Baodian too, but why were the four characters written so crookedly and unevenly?

After looking away from the plaque, Ye Chen glanced at the entrance. There were two Tian Bing guards, one on each side, each holding a long spear and leaning against a pillar, dozing off. Occasionally, snores could be heard.

"A visitor has arrived."

Tai Bai coughed lightly.

This cough startled the two guards awake, and they immediately stood straight, quickly rubbing their sleepy eyes.

"Are the people in your Tian Court not sleeping at night?"

"Why are you standing there? Come on in."

Tai Bai grabbed Ye Chen and entered the palace.

The layout of the Lingxiao Baodian resembled the golden throne hall of a mortal dynasty—grand and imposing, with glittering gold and splendor. Ye Chen had arrived at just the right time, during the morning court session. A man in dragon robes sat on the dragon throne, radiating an aura of the Dao and an air of natural authority. No need to guess; he was the legendary Yu Di. At first glance, he actually looked quite dignified.

Ye Chen swept his gaze over Yu Di and then toward the sides. This was supposed to be the morning court, but there were hardly any people. On one side, two or three figures stood, as if they hadn't slept well the night before, each with dark circles under their eyes, yawning listlessly. If you put a bed there, these great immortals could probably curl up and fall asleep on the spot.

"This feels like it's all just for show."

Ye Chen stroked his chin.

"Your Majesty, I've brought the person."

Tai Bai stepped forward and bowed with clasped hands, then moved to one side. Afterward, he used his whisk to poke the great immortal next to him, clearly implying: Can't you stand properly?

"This humble immortal, Ye Chen, pays his respects to Yu Di."

Ye Chen showed proper etiquette.

"Hmm, indeed, no ordinary talent."

Yu Di stroked his beard, speaking with a profound tone.

"This time in the upper realm, I wish to seek an official position in the Tian Court. I hope Yu Di will grant this favor."

"Feel free to name any divine position that catches your eye."

"As long as it's not tending horses, anything else is fine."

Ye Chen scratched his ear.

"In that case, you can go home. Only the stable keeper position is available; there are no other vacancies."

Yu Di said leisurely.

"Nonsense, your Yu Di throne looks pretty good. I'd be fine taking that."

As Ye Chen spoke, he pulled out his Dinghai Shen Zhen, blew on the staff, and then wiped it vigorously with his sleeve to make it shine brightly. It was obvious he was gearing up for a fight, and it would likely get bloody.

"How dare you draw a weapon in the Lingxiao Baodian and challenge my heavenly authority? Where are my Tian Bing and Tian Jiang? Seize him at once!"

Yu Di snorted coldly, now furious.

At his command, the two Tian Bing guards from outside the palace gates stumbled in with their long spears, still rubbing their eyes and yawning. One on each side, they grabbed Ye Chen's arms and started dragging him out.

"If you're that sleepy, then take a nap."

Ye Chen smiled, and his overwhelming magical power surged forth, sending the two Tian Bing flying. He followed up with a kick to each, sending them straight out of the Lingxiao Baodian.

"How dare you!"

Yu Di suddenly stood up, his shout like thunder.

"Ye Chen, you insolent brat, apologize at once!"

Tai Bai scolded, truly embodying the authority of an elder.

"You stand there for now; I'll deal with you later."

Ye Chen pointed at Yu Di and charged straight at Tai Bai, Dinghai Shen Zhen in hand.

"Hey."

Tai Bai blew out his beard in anger and gently shook his whisk, summoning a ring of light—a sealing technique meant to bind Ye Chen.

But Ye Chen shattered it with one swing of his staff and instantly closed in on Tai Bai.

"You—"

Bang!

Tai Bai had only uttered one word before he was down, completely dazed by Ye Chen's strike. This proved that after advancing to Great Saint, his combat power had soared even higher. So what if Tai Bai was a Quasi-Emperor? It was still just one hit.

"How dare you—"

Bang! Clang!

Ah!

What followed was quite chaotic. The few people standing in the morning court were all beaten without exception. After a chorus of "How dare you," they all ended up on the ground. No more yawning for them—Young Master Ye sent each one to dreamland with a single strike.

At this point, Ye Chen stretched his neck comfortably and grinned at Yu Di, his smile full of mischief, his teeth gleaming white.

Yu Di was still in a state of shock, his mouth twitching. These seven or eight Quasi-Emperors had been taken down just like that. Was a Great Saint's power really this formidable?

"Come down here!"

Ye Chen had already arrived, yanking him down with one hand and following up with a strike of his staff.

Yu Di's scream was truly full of regal fury, as he landed flat on his back, spitting blood foam from his mouth, his body twitching uncontrollably.

That wasn't the end. Ye Chen took out the Kunxian Rope, tying each one up securely, and hung them one by one from the beams. He then leisurely sat on Yu Di's throne, pulled out his flask, and watched with great interest.

Looking again at Yu Di, he was no longer Yu Di; his appearance had changed to that of Taiyi Zhenren.

Well, then! This was all an act. Even the Lingxiao Baodian had transformed in an instant, turning into a dilapidated, dingy old temple.

So, the question arose: Why had Taiyi Zhenren disguised himself as Yu Di? And why had they turned this rundown temple into the Lingxiao Baodian?

This whole series of actions had a deeper meaning. The purpose was clear: to make Ye Chen think better of it and back off, returning to where he came from. Otherwise, if he stayed in the Tian Court, who knew when he might get wiped out.

Hmm... Overall, it was all well-intentioned—Taiyi Zhenren and the others' good intentions.

Ye Chen had already finished a flask of wine, propping his chin with one hand, still smiling as he waited for the two to wake up.

Joke's on them—he wasn't so easily fooled. A simple illusion and a disguise technique to escape his eyes? They dared to trick him and boss him around? They were clearly asking for a beating.

It wasn't until sometime later that Taiyi Zhenren and Tai Bai woke up, still hanging from the beams and swaying with the breeze, their heads spinning.

"I say, how is he so strong?"

"Who knows? He just advanced to Great Saint and it's like he's toying with us."

"Look at how he beat us up."

The two old officials were quite chatty, even while hanging there. One looked bewildered, the other equally stunned, swinging like pendulums in a rather picturesque scene.

"Wake up?"

Ye Chen looked at them with a smile. "You've got some nerve, daring to impersonate Yu Di. You did a decent job, but at least get some extras—proper actors. I recorded the whole scene earlier. When I meet the real Yu Di, I'll report you two."

"It's all for your sake."

Taiyi Zhenren burst out cursing.

"Our good intentions are being treated like donkey liver and lungs."

Tai Bai sighed heavily.

"Now that's more like it."

Ye Chen waved his hand, releasing the two.

Once back on the ground, the two felt a sense of relief, though their faces were darkened with bruises. Ye Chen's strikes had been fierce; their heads were still buzzing. As Quasi-Emperors, how embarrassing to be hammered by a Great Saint— they'd have no face left if word got out.

"Lead the way, take me to see the real Yu Di."

Ye Chen stretched lazily.

"Are you sure you want to go?"

Tai Bai and Taiyi Zhenren frowned. "This isn't your scattered immortal realm. The Eighth Prince could kill you in a heartbeat."

"I dared to come up here, so I have my own backing."

Ye Chen had already stepped out of the rundown temple.

Ah!

The two great immortals sighed and reluctantly followed.
