Chapter 956: Creating Trouble

“But you overestimated the Fanren.”

Tianlong said, “You once said that as long as the Fanren unite as one, they can resist the Shen. But in reality, the people here will never unite. I’ve said it before: Fanren are weak and selfish; they’ll never want to be the first corpse to smash against the mountain. That’s why, even with tens of thousands of them and a full arsenal of Xianfa, they’ll never dare to rebel against me.”

“But what about now?” Qixia asked.

“Now?”

“Look,” Qixia pointed toward the countless skeletons towering in the city, “with Shengshengbuxi behind them, they can keep charging at that mountain without hesitation.”

“But you know this yourself, Baiyang,” Tianlong replied with a laugh. “It’s all just superficial. The reason those ‘things’ trust you so much is that they’re not even human. From afar, they look like living people hurling themselves at the mountain, but in truth, they have no thoughts, no consciousness, not even faces to hold emotions. What’s the difference between them and the flesh you casually created to attack me?”

“Flesh...?” Qixia smiled slowly. “No, they’re not flesh. They’re the residents who’ve always lived here.”

“Ridiculous. If you replaced them with real living people, do you think they’d still be so united?”

Tianlong lowered his head slowly, gazing at the many bodies shattered against the massive mountain and then scattered on the streets.

“They would,” Qixia answered. “Because whether in my dream realm or in Zhongyan Zhidi, all these people who charge forward relentlessly share one common trait.”

“Oh?” Tianlong’s lips twitched. “Do tell.”

“Their leader is me,” Qixia said. “I’ll use Shengshengbuxi to lead everyone forward until I’ve completely killed you.”

“Shengshengbuxi...”

Tianlong fell silent, lifting his gaze to the sky obscured by the mountain peak.

The mountain had indeed come to a halt, and those faceless figures were merely raising their hands, making no further movements.

They had no way to shatter this mountain of the sky, nor to move it aside, so for them, the best option was to hold it up until they were utterly exhausted and perished.

At that moment, Tianlong began to hesitate.

He was already sustaining a powerful Rumen with his belief, and now he was maintaining a Yuanwu that was nearly at full strength. Did he really need to expend even more belief... to unleash a full-force Lijie and Qiaowu?

While the chances of killing Baiyang would increase significantly, his own power in the opponent’s dream realm would be limited. If he played all his cards... then his Suixing would be affected.

If he didn’t wake up by the tenth day... the situation would become far more troublesome than it was now.

Even so, the fact that someone who could only rely on Shengshengbuxi had actually countered his Yuanwu exceeded his expectations entirely.

If this mountain had appeared not in the opponent’s dream realm, but in the real Taoyuan, even if all the participants joined forces and unleashed their Xianfa, stopping it wouldn’t be easy.

“Baiyang... I think I’ve discovered something interesting,” Tianlong said, smirking again. “You’re known for being clever, so why don’t you help me solve this puzzle?”

“No problem,” Qixia replied. “What exactly has you stumped?”

Tianlong listened, then casually flicked his hand upward. An empty palm materialized a piece of iron stone, which was sculpted by the wind in mid-air and transformed into a crude long spear by the time it fell.

He caught the spear and tossed it nonchalantly toward Qixia.

The sound of it cutting through the air exploded like a bullet fired.

Qixia raised both hands in front of him, and masses of flesh rapidly grew on his forearms. Before the spear could reach him, a living creature had already formed in front of his eyes.

It was a shield of bone and flesh, even bearing a pair of terrified eyes and a trembling mouth.

With a “thud”!

The spear pierced into the shield, and the shield’s mouth let out beast-like screams of agony.

“You seem to lack any ‘attack’ methods,” Tianlong said with a laugh upon seeing this. “Though you appear to have plenty of combat experience... all your tricks are just defense or restraint... right?”

Qixia frowned slightly at this and tossed the “shield” aside.

“You have no way to kill me,” Tianlong said. “Even if we fought all night here, you’d just be doing everything you can to defend against my attacks... right?”

“What are you getting at?” Qixia replied.

“You’re more afraid of failure than I am,” Tianlong laughed. “Oh, Baiyang... you know all too well how fragile your body is. If I accidentally touch you, you’d not only suffer severe injury in an instant, but your belief would waver too. So even if you’ve simulated this scenario before... you’ve only thought of countless ways to defend.”

“Maybe you’re right,” Qixia said bluntly, “or maybe my Shengshengbuxi just isn’t strong enough yet.”

“Unfortunately...” Tianlong lowered his head slowly, “I know you still need more honing. I had prepared the perfect opportunity for that, but someone ruined it.”

“The perfect opportunity...” Qixia furrowed his brow, instantly realizing something. “Are you talking about the endless Tianji Shike?”

“Of course,” Tianlong said. “I had everything arranged... Tonight, the entire Taoyuan would be plunged into chaos and bloodshed. That would be your chance to shine. After a few more trials, I could take you—completely unhinged—to the New World. But now, someone’s interfered and thwarted my plans.”

“Oh?” Qixia feigned ignorance. “Who would be foolish enough to do that?”

“Who else but Qinglong?” Tianlong said casually. “He actually woke up all the Tianji, afraid I’d pull anyone into a dream... And now, it’s long past the hours of You and Shen, yet I’m still able to enter the dreams of many participants. That means Tianji and Tianhou haven’t made a move... He’s gone to such lengths, but he had no idea I contacted you directly.”

“But it cost the life of a Tianji, right?” Qixia said. “That person went to all that trouble for you, and in the end, they died.”

“What does that have to do with me...?” Tianlong laughed. “Look at how weakened you are now, Baiyang... Even though tonight’s Tianji Shike was stopped, you’ve still gained some honing from this. Isn’t that great news? Why not think about how to thank me?”

Qixia knew full well this wasn’t good news. His Shengshengbuxi couldn’t be wasted on something so pointless; otherwise, the side effects would drive him completely mad, and he might even agree to Tianlong’s demands.

“Tianlong, at this point, I’m not afraid to tell you the truth,” Qixia said. “I really don’t have a way to kill you, but you can’t kill me either. If we keep dragging this out... you can imagine whose situation is more dangerous.”

“Oh?”

“Someone outside is coming to get me,” Qixia said confidently. “What about you... do you have anyone coming for you?”
