Chapter 870: Future Probe

Days passed one by one, and I met with Yang Ge on schedule. Every morning, I would go see him, chat casually for a bit, and then start my day’s activities.

After all, I didn’t need to participate in the games myself; I just had to build up the influence of “Ji Dao.” This wasn’t difficult for me, especially with Jiang Ruoxue’s “Yin Guo” helping me along.

I had to admit, everything was going more smoothly than I had imagined. My communication with Yang Ge became increasingly easy, though he still seemed odd—his eyes were full of confusion. And from a long time ago, he had stopped asking me about “Ji Dao” matters, as if he had completely handed over the decision-making to me.

Later, I gradually realized that it was no longer feasible to find people willing to join “Ji Dao” just by wandering the streets. Most of the strong individuals these days preferred to enter the games to hone their abilities.

So, to strengthen “Ji Dao,” I began participating in the games one after another. I had to say... the “Di Ji” games seemed to have changed a bit.

It had been like this since two years ago... the games here had become harder.

But I had two reasons for going: first, to make connections with strong people, and second, to train myself. So, the “Di Ji” games were unavoidable. After all, I had a stable “Hui Xiang,” which meant I could stay safe as long as I didn’t risk my life.

I remained cautious, usually disguising myself well, and to this day, no one had ever seen my “Hui Xiang.”

Once I started participating in the games, I began hearing about the various organizations here again.

Apparently, a few years back, after the leader of that massive organization disappeared, the second and third in command took over. But unfortunately, neither of them was the intellectual type of leader. They relied on sheer brute force when joining the games, leading to repeated failures, and now the organization had basically fallen apart.

There were also rumors that the two leaders had a huge fight on the streets and then went their separate ways.

Some said they each set up their own organizations on opposite sides of the city, while others claimed they had both turned into locals and vanished.

The streets were full of rumors, but I had no idea which ones were true. All I knew was that after those two leaders disappeared, new ones had taken over the organization.

Where there are people, there’s always intrigue. Even in these small factions established here, many individuals took turns playing their parts, staging one power struggle after another.

Thinking about it this way, “Ji Dao” was truly stable. Every strong person I recruited had no idea who the actual leader of “Ji Dao” was, making it impossible for them to stage a coup.

About two years later—which would be five years ago from now—one day,

I remember I was walking down the road when I noticed something odd about the sky. But when I opened my eyes, I found myself sitting in a strange building with an unfamiliar man.

I must have zoned out again... that feeling hadn’t happened in a long time.

I stared at the stranger in front of me for a while, unsure whether to speak.

“Little sister... what’s wrong with you?”

The man looked to be around thirty-seven or thirty-eight, with a friendly face and a thick northeastern accent.

Seeing him suddenly ask me a question left me at a loss—I didn’t recognize him at all and had no memory of why I was there. My mind went completely blank, and even my thoughts seemed to stop.

He saw I wasn’t saying anything and asked again,

“Why are you just standing there in a daze? Little sister, didn’t you have something to tell me?”

In just a few seconds, scattered memories started floating into my mind, and I remembered who he was.

“You’re... Lao Sun?”

“Yeah, that’s me... Little sister... We just played that ‘Di Zhu’ game together. How could you forget me already?” Lao Sun looked at me with a puzzled expression. “Girl, what’s going on with you? Are you feeling unwell?”

“No, no.” I shook my head, but a question popped into my mind—

Was I starting to go crazy too?

“Come on, spit it out...”

Lao Sun stared at me and said,

“You’re really making me anxious.”

“I...” I quickly reached up to rub my forehead. I knew that if I wasn’t going crazy, then I must be suffering from some kind of amnesia.

Either way, I needed to act fast. It seemed like anyone who maintained their memories for too long would fall into a mental crisis—even someone as mentally strong as me couldn’t escape it.

If I didn’t quickly expand the team’s size, I’d end up completely lost.

“Lao Sun... I called you here because I do have something to tell you.”

I lifted my head and repeated the words I had said countless times before.

“What the...?”

Lao Sun blinked after listening. “Little sister, you’re with ‘Ji Dao’?”

I’d never heard it phrased that way before, so I raised my eyebrow. “You’ve heard of ‘Ji Dao’?”

“Of course I have!” Lao Sun exaggeratedly raised his eyebrows. “A bunch of people have already come to talk to me about it, saying how this crappy place is all messed up and needs protecting and all that... Little sister, looks like your organization is pretty big.”

“Oh...?”

That’s when I realized there were already quite a few of our people on this land, and they were out there persuading others to join “Ji Dao.”

When had this organization grown so large?

I recruited about one person a day, minus those who didn’t believe me after my “Yu Ce Wei Lai” failed. Over two years, that must be five or six hundred people, right?

And now, with those five or six hundred scattered around, mobilizing others... after subtracting those who couldn’t maintain their memories long-term...

Would there be at least a hundred?

“But I don’t know why... I just never believed them!” Lao Sun chuckled naively. “Maybe I just hit it off with you, little sister. Now that you’re saying it, I’m starting to believe.”

Yes, he had no choice but to believe—it was all true because of “Yin Guo.”

“Lao Sun, I’m not lying to you,” I said. “This place really needs ‘Ji Dao’ to protect it. We have to protect not just the ‘Can Yu Zhe,’ but also the ‘Sheng Xiao.’”

“Ah, little sister, so what can we do about it...”

Lao Sun scratched his head in distress. “I’m fine with joining ‘Ji Dao,’ but when will this ever end? How long do we have to protect this place?”

“Well...”

I knew this was the perfect moment for “Yu Ce Wei Lai.”

“Lao Sun, we have to keep protecting this place until someone appears who can change it.”

“What? Someone who can change this place?” Lao Sun blinked. “So, are we like the ‘vanguard’ or something? Or maybe the ‘Jin Yi Wei’?”

“You can think of it that way.” I said, “Do you believe me?”

“Of course I do.” Lao Sun replied, “What ‘Ji Dao’ is doing lines up with what you’re saying. If we’re the ‘vanguard’ or the ‘Jin Yi Wei,’ that makes total sense.”

Great, he really believed it.

This showed that our organization was functioning just as I’d planned... it would play a crucial role for the future ruler.

“But who exactly is this person who can change things?” Lao Sun asked again. “After I join ‘Ji Dao,’ will I get to meet him?”

I thought for a moment and made a bold decision before speaking.

“Of course you will. Who knows, you might even become friends.”

“Oh, that’s good then.”

Lao Sun nodded, looking relieved.
