“Everyone! The hero has already instructed me on this. “A scent?” Si Wei jiejie paused. “But there’s no one there.”

“No…” I pointed toward the sky. “It’s very far away… but I can smell it… right there…”

Si Wei jiejie asked, “Is it ‘Qing Xiang’? Or ‘emotions’ or ‘thoughts’?”

“None of them…” I felt a tremble run through my body. “No, it’s all of them… There’s fragrance, foul odor, intense emotions, uneasy obsessions… and enormous thoughts…”

My words left the two of them puzzled again: “Enormous thoughts…?”

Gu Yu gege pondered for a moment and said, “Hero, could it be your imagination? Looking in that direction, there’s no one in sight for hundreds of meters. Theoretically, scents couldn’t travel that far.”

Si Wei jiejie glanced at him and whispered, “Gu Yu… are you saying that Wan Ge’s death has affected the hero mentally?”

Si Wei jiejie paused and said, “Hero, do you want to go take a look?”

“I…”

I fell into hesitation. Should I go?

But if I left this city, what would become of it?

“I won’t stop you,” Si Wei jiejie said. “Just as I said before, you can do anything you want.”

“No…”

I knew that for the sake of a complete stranger I’d never met, I couldn’t put Gu Yu gege and Si Wei jiejie in danger, no matter what.

But that person had said that no matter how many years passed, they would wait for me there, so I would have to go eventually.

What they needed was never Wan Bobo—it was me.

After hearing this, Si Wei jiejie imagined the scene and asked, “So on that display screen… it would show ‘someone has started to echo’?”

“No… the reality is even more interesting.” Gu Yu gege said, “That display screen seems to have a life of its own. It says, ‘I heard the echo.’”
