Chapter 695: That Uncle's Smell

That day, Wan Bobo took several aunties to participate in the game, and they didn't return until evening.

But only Wan Bobo came back.

He was covered in blood, his eyes bloodshot, and he smelled of both anger and fear.

I was relieved that my sister was unwell that day and didn't go with him, or I might never have seen her again.

"Damn it... what the hell is 'Di Hu'... this is insane..."

He was trembling all over as he returned to our secret base, then slumped down in front of me and my sister. He didn't even look at us, just muttered to himself.

I felt even more afraid. He looked dazed, like my dad when he was drunk.

My sister saw the blood on him and gave off a scent of fear, then quietly asked,

"Sister Fang and the others... where are they?"

"They all died... not a single one left..."

Wan Bobo lifted his head, shaking all over.

"I always thought it was fake... does this place really kill people? What the hell kind of place is this..."

"'Di Hu'?"

My sister paused.

"Wasn't it always 'Ren Hu'? Where does the 'Di' come from?"

"I'm fucking finding out for the first time too..."

Wan Bobo rubbed his hands together, as if recalling what happened. At that moment, I noticed his hands were caked with dried blood.

His scent was a mix of "heavy" and "fear."

"We were a big group locked in a circular arena... that tiger made us kill each other... but how could we just obey? We all stood still in the arena..."

He kept rubbing his hands.

"Then what happened?"

My sister asked.

"Then that tiger... threw a machete into the center of the arena..."

Wan Bobo gave a bitter smile.

"How ridiculous... people are like that. When everyone's empty-handed, no one thinks of attacking. But as soon as there's a knife in the center..."

As Wan Bobo spoke, my sister listened with a serious expression, and her scent turned sad.

"Everyone started scrambling for that knife..."

Wan Bobo continued the story.

"The scene turned chaotic in an instant, but I know some people grabbed for the knife not to kill, but just so it wouldn't fall into someone else's hands... because only when the knife is in your hands do you feel safe. If it's in someone else's, all you can do is fear. That tiger exploited that..."

"That makes sense."

My sister nodded after listening.

"So... you survived in the end?"

Her tone grew a bit stiff, and her scent became cautious.

"Yes."

Wan Bobo replied with a heavy scent.

"So..."

My sister started rubbing her hands too; she smelled tense.

"You killed Sister Fang and the others?"

"I..."

A strange expression flashed across Wan Bobo's face. He looked down at his blood-stained hands and stammered,

"How could I have... it was them trying to kill me; I was just defending myself..."

After Wan Bobo said that, his scent changed, and I suddenly froze.

A strange, fresh fragrance was emanating from him, something that smelled a lot like my own scent.

It was just as fragrant, but with a slight difference, like two different bars of soap.

In my mind, two words appeared—"Kuang Yin."

This was a fragrance called "Kuang Yin." It overpowered all other scents, drilling straight into my nose; I couldn't escape it.

"Uncle..."

I finally couldn't hold back and said,

"You smell really good."

"Good...?"

Both he and my sister looked at me, their expressions puzzled.

Wan Bobo glanced down at the large bloodstains on his body, and a scent of anger emerged.

"Are you kidding me, kid...?"

He asked hoarsely.

"I'm covered in stinking blood... and you say it's 'good'?"

I got scared and scooted behind my sister. I thought I was saying something adults would like, but for some reason, he got angry.

Adults always seemed happy when I complimented them before.

My sister blocked me and looked up at Wan Bobo,

"Wan Ge, calm down first. Hero doesn't talk much; let's hear what he has to say."

"Hear what he has to say...? This is ridiculous. I must have been too nice to him."

Wan Bobo laughed.

"I thought having nine survivors in our room would give us an advantage over the others, but who knew we'd have a kid holding us back, not doing anything useful, just causing trouble. Now so many are dead, and he has the nerve to joke around..."

"I... I didn't cause trouble..."

I hid my head behind my sister's back and whispered,

"And I wasn't joking... you can all smell it... Wan Bobo really smells good; that fragrance is called 'Kuang Yin'."

"'Kuang Yin'?"

Wan Bobo looked at me skeptically, then lifted his arm to sniff it. But the next second, I sensed he was even angrier.

"I can't believe I fell for your nonsense..."

He slowly stood up and walked toward me and my sister.

"Are you trying to make me more upset...? People died, you know! Do you even get that?!"

I was so scared; I was really terrified!

He felt just like my dad!

He shoved my sister aside and grabbed me by the collar, dragging me away:

"Do you think I won't hit you?! Are you messing with me, you little brat?!"

I was about to get hit...

"You son of a—!"

The next thing Wan Bobo said came out incredibly loud; it felt like my ears were going to burst.

"What?"

He clapped his hand over his mouth in disbelief, but the booming sound kept echoing in the room.

My sister got up from the floor, pushed Wan Bobo away, and helped me up.

"Hero, are you okay?"

She asked.

"I'm fine... I'm okay..."

I was shaking all over.

Then she turned to Wan Bobo:

"Wan Ge... what was that just now?"

"I don't know..."

Wan Bobo was stunned, still covering his mouth.

My sister checked on me, then stood face-to-face with Wan Bobo:

"Wan Ge, I don't think you needed to do that... you went out for the game and failed; theoretically, it has nothing to do with Hero. No matter what, you shouldn't take it out on him."

Wan Bobo ignored her completely and just kept touching his throat, then experimentally made loud sounds—sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

"'Kuang Yin'...?"

Wan Bobo's eyes widened.

"Is this 'Kuang Yin'...?"

After trying a few more times, he looked back at me, grabbed my shoulders hard, and said,

"Kid... what does 'Kuang Yin' mean?!"
