Chapter 1228: I Can Try

Flying into Xian Shan, Ye Chen’s gaze continuously swept around, quickly and accurately locking onto the location of the reincarnated individual. After scanning the area, his eyes settled on the depths of Xian Shan. There was a sealed cave dwelling, and he seemed to be able to see through the seals and the surrounding mountain peaks to a young girl sitting cross-legged inside, as clear as in his memories.

As he watched, Ye Chen retracted his gaze and landed with the purple-robed elder and Ji Ru Xue in front of a grand hall. Members of the Ji family came out to greet them, and others flew in from different directions. Seeing that the purple-robed elder and Ji Ru Xue were safe and sound, they all let out a sigh of relief. “It's a miracle you're back unharmed.”

“It's all thanks to this young friend for saving us,” the purple-robed elder said gratefully, looking at Ye Chen.

“Young friend, your great kindness to the Ji family will never be forgotten.” The elders bowed deeply to Ye Chen with sincere respect.

“It’s just a small effort.”

“Third Great-Uncle, how is Grandfather?” Ji Ru Xue asked hurriedly, turning to one of the elders.

“The injury has already turned into a Dao wound,” the elder replied with a helpless sigh.

“A Dao wound…” Ji Ru Xue trembled, her face turning pale, and she clenched her jade hands tightly. “We went through so much to find the Fortune-creating Lingzhi, but we still couldn’t make it in time.”

“Damn the Xie Yue Sect.” The purple-robed elder’s fists cracked as he clenched them, his eyes flashing with cold fury. “If they hadn't ambushed us, Xue’er and I would have returned earlier.”

“This might just be fate.” The elders all sighed.

“Perhaps I can try,” Ye Chen said. “If the Ji family elder’s injury is just a Dao wound, I think I have a way to handle it.”

“You have a way?” The Ji family members, their expressions fierce, all turned to stare at Ye Chen in unison. Even saints were powerless against it – where did he get the confidence to say that?

“It won’t hurt to let me try.”

“This…”

“Dao friend, come with me.” Ji Ru Xue grabbed Ye Chen’s hand and hurried toward a bamboo grove in Xian Shan, with the group of elders following closely behind, their hearts filled with intense hope.

Soon, they all landed outside the bamboo grove.

Huh?

After landing, Ye Chen let out a soft sound of surprise, his eyes fixed on a round, translucent stone outside the bamboo grove. It shimmered with immortal light and was full of spiritual energy – it was a stone with its own spirit.

Interesting!

Ye Chen stroked his chin, his expression turning peculiar, because this spiritual stone was also a reincarnated person. He hadn’t sensed it earlier, as the stone had concealed its aura on its own.

“Dao friend?”

Seeing Ye Chen staring at the stone, Ji Ru Xue called out tentatively.

“To treat the Dao wound!”

Ye Chen gave an awkward smile and followed Ji Ru Xue into the bamboo grove, with the elders trailing behind.

The bamboo grove was serene and rich in spiritual energy, an ideal place for cultivation. Deep within the grove, hidden among the bamboo, was a row of bamboo houses. In front of them stood a stone table, where a white-haired elder sat – the ancestor of the Ji family and their only saint.

“We greet the ancestor.” Ji Ru Xue and the Ji family members bowed in respect, their faces etched with worry.

“I’m fine.” The Ji family ancestor smiled warmly to reassure them, though his kindly expression was betrayed by his sickly pallor and erratic breathing. As he spoke, a trace of fresh blood inadvertently escaped from the corner of his mouth.

“This young friend is…” The Ji family ancestor’s cloudy eyes fell on Ye Chen.

“This junior is Ye Chen. I greet you, senior.” Ye Chen stepped forward and bowed respectfully.

“Ye Chen – what a good name.” The Ji family ancestor smiled gently, a flicker of deep insight in his old eyes, as if he had glimpsed the extraordinary nature of Ye Chen’s bloodline, though he couldn’t identify it exactly.

“Grandfather, he says he can cure your Dao wound,” Ji Ru Xue said quickly, stepping forward.

“Oh?” The Ji family ancestor looked at Ye Chen in surprise. “Young friend, is this true?”

“We’ll see after I take a look.” Ye Chen chuckled and grasped the Ji family ancestor’s wrist, examining him like a physician, though in reality, he was using his immortal eyes to inspect the ancestor’s life essence and primordial spirit.

The Ji family ancestor remained skeptical but allowed Ye Chen to proceed.

Ji Ru Xue and the Ji family experts watched Ye Chen with hopeful expressions, praying that this extraordinary young man would bring them a miracle.

Ye Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly as he examined the Dao wound scars on the Ji family ancestor’s primordial spirit. The wound hadn't been there long, so it wasn't as overbearing as he had imagined. However, what made him frown wasn’t the Dao wound itself, but another terrifying scar lurking beneath it.

After a while, Ye Chen finally withdrew his hand.

“How is it?”

Ji Ru Xue and the Ji family experts all looked at Ye Chen expectantly.

But Ye Chen turned to the Ji family ancestor. “Senior, you must have provoked something you shouldn’t have.”

At these words, the Ji family ancestor’s brow furrowed slightly, but he quickly composed himself and sighed, not hiding the truth. “As you said, I glimpsed something I shouldn’t have, leading to backlash. Combined with old hidden injuries, it evolved into this Dao scar.”

“It must have been a quasi-emperor, and not just any ordinary one,” Ye Chen said, stroking his chin.

“Young friend, you surprise me.” The Ji family ancestor smiled at Ye Chen.

“You’re too kind, senior.”

“Then, do you have a method?” The Ji family experts asked urgently.

“I can cure the Dao wound, but there’s nothing I can do about the quasi-emperor backlash.” Ye Chen shook his head helplessly.

“You can really cure the Dao wound?” The Ji family ancestor asked Ye Chen tentatively.

“A piece of cake.” Ye Chen smiled. “Along my journey, I’ve treated more than a dozen Dao wounds.”

“More than a dozen?” Ye Chen’s words left everyone, including the Ji family ancestor, stunned. When had Dao wounds become so easy to treat? In his mouth, it sounded so straightforward.

“You all wait outside for now.” The Ji family ancestor laughed and waved them off.

“Understood.” The Ji family experts hurriedly turned and left the bamboo grove, though they cast hopeful glances back at Ye Chen before departing.

Once outside, the elders turned to the purple-robed elder. “Old Six, what’s the background of that young one?”

“He claims to be a friend of Yan’er’s,” the purple-robed elder replied. “Don’t underestimate him – his combat power is beyond what even saints can suppress. In less than a minute, he wiped out three quasi-saints and over a dozen peak emperor realm experts from the Xie Yue Sect. I’ve cultivated for two thousand years and never seen such a dominant junior.”

“Three quasi-saints and over a dozen peak emperor realm experts – he did that?”

“Do I look like I’m joking?” The purple-robed elder took a deep breath. “He’s even stronger than we imagined.”

“What I’m concerned about is whether he can truly heal the ancestor’s Dao wound,” one elder said worriedly. “If he can’t, the ancestor will likely fall from the saint realm, and the Xie Yue Sect will launch a full-scale attack.”

Meanwhile, in the bamboo grove, Ye Chen had already summoned his heavenly thunder.

Upon seeing the heavenly thunder in Ye Chen’s hand, the Ji family ancestor’s eyes narrowed slightly, as if he could tell at a glance that it carried the power of divine punishment – thunder from a heavenly tribulation.

“Senior, I have a few things to ask you.” Ye Chen spoke as he directed the black heavenly thunder into the Ji family ancestor’s body, enveloping his primordial spirit and precisely targeting the Dao wound scars.

The Ji family ancestor grunted in pain, his aged face contorting. “Young friend, ask away.”

“Da Chu, Zhu Tian Gate, Daluo Zhu Tian, Jiu Huang Tian, Kunlun Xu, the great and small imperial dynasties, the Shen Dian, Xuanhuang Continent, Chu Huang, Yue Huang, Yan Huang, Tian Zang Huang, Dong Huang, Xuan Huang, Chen Huang, Zhan Wang, Tai Wang, Zhu Tian Jian Shen, Dan Zun, Donghuang Tai Xin…” Ye Chen listed them all in one breath before looking at the Ji family ancestor. “Senior, have you heard of any of these?”

“I’ve heard of the Zhu Tian Jian Shen – that’s a mythical figure from the heavens.” The Ji family ancestor stroked his beard. “Dong Huang as well, an ancestor of the Tianfu Shen Chao. Dan Zun, I know a bit about – a master of alchemy. As for that Donghuang Tai Xin…”

The Ji family ancestor rubbed his brow as he spoke. “The name sounds familiar, like something my predecessors mentioned.”

“She is the divine maiden of Kunlun Xu.”

“I don’t know about that.” The Ji family ancestor shook his head.

“Do you know where I can find Dong Huang, the Zhu Tian Jian Shen, and Dan Zun, senior?”

“I don’t know about Dong Huang and Dan Zun,” the Ji family ancestor said slowly, “but as for the Zhu Tian Jian Shen, you could try asking at the Daluo Jian Sect – they’ve had a deep connection with the Sword God since ancient times.”

“Thank you for telling me, senior.” Ye Chen said, then waved his hand to produce a scroll painting – it was a portrait of Chu Xuan. “Have you seen the woman in this painting, senior?”

The Ji family ancestor examined it closely, his gaze lingering on the immortal jade ring on Chu Xuan’s finger. As he looked, his expression grew strange. “Young friend, what is your relationship with the woman in the painting?”

“She is my wife.”

“Your wife?” The Ji family ancestor’s expression became even stranger.

“You’ve seen her, haven’t you, senior?” Ye Chen suppressed his excitement, staring straight at the Ji family ancestor.

“I’ve… seen her.” The Ji family ancestor coughed awkwardly, his smile embarrassed as he subconsciously touched his face. “Let’s just say her master has quite the temper – I had the misfortune of getting beaten by her back in the day.”
