Chapter 1299: The Lucky Enemy

Chu Tianqiu arrived at the door and opened a small gap to peer outside.

Ever since the Lüyi had joined the battlefield, the situation outside had completely changed.

Almost every room was being visited by the Lüyi, who carried many eyeballs and Dao in their hands, reaping rich rewards.

Yan Zhichun and his group seemed to be leading a large number of Lüyi to sweep through the Tianji rooms before heading further down the corridor.

In a daze, Chu Tianqiu caught sight of many people rushing toward the "cart head" area.

There were Shengxiao members, Canyuzhe participants, and even Lüyi.

Normally, the Lüyi shouldn't be gathering toward the cart head, but at that moment, a strange Canyuzhe far away had attracted the attention of many Lüyi. She was leading a horde of them in a mad dash toward the cart head.

She appeared to be using Yueqian, but she looked utterly disheveled. Every time she was about to be touched by the Lüyi, she would shift a short distance with Yueqian. Strangely, she never used it for long-range movement, always keeping a teasing distance from the Lüyi, making the situation hard to fathom.

Why would the Lüyi not attack a Canyuzhe? What could she be?

As Chu Tianqiu pondered this, he saw a door open to his left front, and the battered Di Hou and Di Ji emerged, coughing while pulling strands of long hair from their bodies.

Inside that door, besides a floor covered in gray-black hair, there were many shattered Lüyi bodies, indicating they had just survived a fierce battle.

"Hey..." Chu Tianqiu said urgently, "Get back inside."

"Get back...?!" Di Ji spotted Chu Tianqiu at the cart head and his expression changed. "What are you doing out in the open like that?"

"It's a long story... You two retreat first. Something's off out here." Chu Tianqiu continued, "There's some strange thing coming—seems like a Tianji..."

"Another Tianji?" Di Ji and Di Hou were stunned and quickly ducked back inside. "How is that possible...? Aren't the Lüyi already everywhere...?"

Chu Tianqiu couldn't pinpoint the problem. The woman's figure was too distant; he could only make out her gender and little else.

"Is there a woman among the Tianji who can use Yueqian?" Chu Tianqiu asked, staring into the distance.

"A woman with Yueqian..." Di Ji thought for a moment. "That would be Tianma..."

Di Hou nodded in agreement. "Yes... Yueqian might be the only ability that could escape the Lüyi's pursuit..."

"But could that be Tianma...?" Chu Tianqiu narrowed his eyes at the disheveled figure. "Since all of you know Tianma's abilities... If I were matched against her, I'd cripple her legs even if it cost me my life."

"The one matched against Tianma is that tall guy's sister..." Di Ji pondered. "Not sure if she has that kind of move... Maybe she failed?"

Chu Tianqiu didn't have time to think it through. He just said to the two, "Find a way to hide. Whatever that thing is, don't let her see you. The person who knew you were 'rebels' is dead, so you're safe now."

The two exchanged glances and nodded in agreement. With no further plans in place, they didn't want to hinder the ongoing operation.

They nodded at Chu Tianqiu and quietly retreated back to the room with Tian Hou and Tian Ji, then closed the door.

Chu Tianqiu kept watching the corridor outside while quietly asking the three girls behind him, "Not ready yet?"

"Almost... Give me two more minutes..." Tian Tian said. "I'll have it all memorized soon."

"Two minutes..." Chu Tianqiu narrowed his eyes and clutched an eyeball in his hand.

The situation was indeed tricky. If the opponent was a Tianji, he'd theoretically need to swallow a lot of eyeballs to stand a chance.

But with so many Lüyi wandering around, the only way to avoid getting caught in the crossfire was to discard the eyeballs he had.

How could he fight that Tianji in such a dilemma?

While Chu Tianqiu was mulling over tactics, a Shengxiao member and some Canyuzhe arrived at the door first. Chu Tianqiu looked closely and saw it was Di Gou, followed by Lin Jin, Xiao Xiao, and Zheng Yingxiong.

The two sides eyed each other through the door gap but said nothing. Di Gou led the group around the corner toward where the Tianji was, and soon, knocking sounds echoed from there.

Chu Tianqiu was even more puzzled. As the plan neared its end, things were getting stranger. Why was Di Gou leading a group of "extremists" to knock on a Tianji's door? What was going on now?

Before he could figure it out, the Tianji seemed to have gotten the hang of Yueqian, closing the distance in just a few flashes.

But when Chu Tianqiu saw her face, he couldn't suppress the confusion in his eyes.

He had made many guesses in his mind, but nothing prepared him for this.

The panicked, fleeing Tianji was none other than Xiao Ran.

"Qinglong! Qinglong, open the door quick! Everyone outside is going crazy!" Xiao Ran shouted as she ran toward the door. "There are so many rebels... and monsters out here!"

Chu Tianqiu felt his thoughts were more chaotic than ever. With no other option, he reached out and shut the door.

He wasn't sure if he was shutting it against Xiao Ran or the Lüyi, but he had a vague sense that she had become one of Qinglong's people, so she absolutely couldn't enter this room.

"Ah?!" Seeing the door close, Xiao Ran's expression changed instantly. "Qinglong, what are you doing?!"

She rushed to the door and pounded on it hard. "Open up!"

Zhang Lvshi and Yunyao were drawn by the noise, their hearts skipping a beat as they turned to Chu Tianqiu. "What's going on...? Who's knocking?"

Chu Tianqiu didn't know how to answer. His mind was a complete mess. "It's Xiao Ran... I have no idea what's happening. This is all so confusing..."

"Xiao Ran..." Zhang Chenze paused and looked at Tian Tian. "...Who is that?"

Tian Tian shrugged, indicating she'd never heard the name.

Yunyao's expression shifted upon hearing this. She pulled out a lipstick from her small bag and tossed it onto the table, where it rolled a few times before standing upright.

"Tianqiu, open the door," Yunyao said. "Qiangyun is still strong. Every decision I make next is the right one. Let Xiao Ran in."

Chu Tianqiu turned back to her. "Are you sure? I heard you two have a grudge..."

"I'm sure." Yunyao nodded. "Maybe it's because of Qiangyun that we ended up with that grudge."
