Tian Shu couldn't see anything; he just reached out and felt around everywhere.
He felt that Di Shu was still moving slightly, and he touched his own waist, but those hands remained icy cold and weak.
A few seconds later, Di Shu's hand slid off Tian Shu's body and went still.
Tian Shu paused, then kicked at Di Shu with his leg, finding him lying there motionless like a corpse.
He was too scared to make a sound. Although he was covered in wounds, he had survived. Even though his eyes were destroyed, as long as he could find Tian She, the Shuang Sheng Hua in that room could restore him to normal.
The only problem now was how to evade the Luo Yi outside the door.
Most of the Luo Yi were demoted from Di Ji level, and their physical abilities were no weaker than his own. In his current injured state, could he still escape?
Tian Shu sat dazed in the room for a while, feeling like he had thought of a bizarre way to save himself.
Right now, perhaps only this method could get him safely through the corridor.
He kept his bleeding eyes tightly shut amid the constant banging on the door, groping around the room's corners. Soon, he found a rusty metal candlestick on the table.
He gripped the candlestick, then removed his tattered shirt and jammed it into his back at an awkward angle.
With screams of pain, the eyes on Tian Shu's back were all destroyed. To be safe, he felt around again until he confirmed that his back was nothing but mangled, bloody flesh. Only then did he relax.
He let out a bitter laugh, and the candlestick clattered to the ground as he muttered, "What a shame... Neither you nor the Luo Yi outside the door can touch me tonight."
Di Shu lay completely still, as if he had done all he could and was now powerless.
Tian Shu groped forward a step and said,"If you had opened the door earlier and let those monsters in to tear me apart...How would you have ended up like this?"
All that answered him was silence and the faint, fading breaths that were about to vanish.
Tian Shu snorted coldly, spat on the ground, then turned and carefully opened the door. The banging stopped at that moment.
He waited a few seconds, then heard some bare footsteps circling around him uncertainly before entering the room.
Their footsteps sounded hesitant.
Tian Shu grinned, baring his remaining teeth:"It's worked... It's worked... Cough... In the end, I'm still the winner."
Just then, a tall, scarred Di Tu happened to bypass the Luo Yi and reach the room's doorway, where he saw Tian Shu, covered in blood, step out. Di Tu frowned.
Tian Shu was still alive, which meant Di Shu had failed.
That slick-tongued, sharp Di Shu hadn't managed to avenge himself in the end.
Di Tu had come to see Tian Shu's corpse, hoping to find some peace before his own death, but things in the world rarely went as one wished.
It wasn't hard to understand—Di Tu had only killed Tian Tu with the help of the Luo Yi, so how could Di Shu possibly kill Tian Shu unscathed?
"In that case... I'll have to do it myself..." Di Tu paused. "Old mouse brother... I'll avenge you... You won't mind, right...?"
But as Di Tu prepared to act, he suddenly started coughing violently. He felt his life slipping away. Even though his instincts suppressed his breathing, any lapse made him choke up blood.
Tian Shu's figure blurred before his eyes, and Di Tu could only lean against the wall and slowly kneel down.
Perhaps this was all too much—fighting two Tian Ji in a row. If every Di Ji had that kind of strength, how could they have been oppressed for so long?
He lay against the wall and saw Di Shu lying in the room with a smile on his face. Di Tu tried to say something, but all that came out was coughing.
The violent coughing made Tian Shu pause in confusion. He couldn't see, but he sensed something ominous.
"Who's there?" Tian Shu asked.
Di Tu glared at the blinded Tian Shu with full of resentment, but he was utterly helpless. He didn't even have the strength to speak; the prolonged lack of oxygen made his head throb, and everything before his eyes grew fuzzy.
Enduring the sharp pain in his chest and lungs, Di Tu took a deep breath and stared at Tian Shu. Even though he had lost, why was Di Shu still smiling?
The next second, he noticed something odd on Tian Shu's neck, but with all the wounds on Tian Shu's body, even Tian Shu himself had overlooked it.
"Ha..." Di Tu chuckled lightly. "So that's it... Old fool... You finally get yours..."
"Who...?" Tian Shu turned his head toward the source of the voice.
"I'm... just a spectator here for the Yan Hua... Ha ha..." Di Tu lifted his head with difficulty. "Your current state is more than satisfying..."
"Yan Hua spectator...?" Tian Shu froze, suddenly remembering something, and quickly reached for his neck.
A metal collar had been placed there without him noticing.
He recalled Di Shu touching his neck earlier. Wasn't Di Shu trying to strangle him...? Instead, in his final moments, he must have put the metal collar on him?
But Di Shu had also touched his waist. Could it be...?
Tian Shu immediately felt his waist and found it empty—all the remote controls for the bombs were gone.
A wave of extreme unease washed over him. He felt like he had fallen into a trap—not only couldn't he escape death, but he had also blinded the eyes on his own back.
He stumbled around and turned back, hearing light laughter from the ruined room.
"Ha ha... You old bastard..." Di Shu gritted his teeth and said, "I told you I'd kill you myself... Otherwise, the whole journey would be meaningless... How could I let the Luo Yi tear you apart? Just go to hell in peace... I'm done with this job..."
"Wait!"
Before Tian Shu could finish, Di Shu's thumb had already pressed the remote.
With a muffled boom, the collar on Tian Shu's neck emitted a blinding white light, and a fountain of blood sprayed onto the ceiling, then fell like filthy rain to the ground.
The falling raindrops pattered on the floor, leaving the barely breathing Di Shu and Di Tu in silence.
"Ha... Thank goodness..." Di Tu looked at the scattered flesh and blood fragments and said after a long pause, "Finally, I get to see Tian Shu die before me..."
Di Shu leaned against the wall, too weak even to respond.
"Brother..." Di Tu tried to speak to him. "Can you hold on...?"
Di Shu shook his head feebly.
"It's okay... It's okay, brother..." Di Tu smiled bitterly. "Even if you can't make it... It's fine... At least we've won this fight... We will eventually..."
As Di Tu spoke, his expression grew uncertain, and he gradually looked disheartened.
Eventually...
Would they win?
