When Hei Yang dragged his exhausted body to the exit, he found that the place was already in complete chaos. Blood was everywhere, and cries of agony echoed nonstop. A Ren Zhu was blocking the door with his body, while another Di Ji was frantically attacking his back.
The Ren Zhu was trembling all over, his eyes starting to glaze over, yet he couldn't fight back. He gripped the doorframe with both hands, facing away from the Di Hou, his expression behind the mask filled with unbearable pain.
It took Hei Yang about three seconds to assess the situation.
Both the Ren Zhu and the Di Hou froze when they saw Hei Yang emerge from inside, and the Di Hou halted his assault.
After all, Hei Yang looked like he had just survived a deadly battle, with blood dripping down his sleeves. The two of them couldn't understand why a Sheng Xiao would be fighting to the death in the Huo Cang.
"Move aside," Hei Yang said.
The Ren Zhu mustered his last bit of strength and quickly thought through the situation. He had no idea what was happening below, and he wasn't sure if Hei Yang was friend or foe. But since the other man had come out from behind the door, maybe...
He didn't want to let go, but by then, his hands and feet had gone numb. He had used Hardening to withstand nearly all of the Di Ji's attacks, feeling as if he were being beaten while wearing steel armor. There were no visible wounds, but his internal organs were in agony.
Seizing the moment while the Ren Zhu was distracted, Hei Yang stepped forward and pushed him aside. The sight of numerous corpses came into view.
The students of Pei Qian Hu were sprawled everywhere, their necks twisted and broken—clearly the work of the Di Ji.
Now, only a lone Ren Hou stood unsteadily in place, holding two pens as weapons. Even her mask was torn. She heard movement behind her and turned to look at Hei Yang.
Her expression instantly became incredibly complex, as if she had spotted a lifesaver, but she worried it might drag Hei Yang into danger. She swallowed the words "Hei Yang Teacher" that were on the tip of her tongue and, despite her fear, pretended not to know him.
Though she knew Hei Yang might be the only one who could save her now, and missing this chance would mean certain death, she hoped more that he could go save his own teacher. Maybe she still had a one percent chance of surviving against these people, but her teacher didn't even have that.
Not far from them stood a Di Shu with injured eyes, looking panicked and being supported by a Ren Ji. He was completely out of the fight.
The Di Hou stared blankly at Hei Yang. After all, there was only one Di Yang on the entire Lie Che, which naturally raised suspicions. "Wait a minute, what's your identity?"
Hei Yang didn't respond. He simply walked past the crowd of Sheng Xiao and headed straight forward.
"Hey..." The Di Hou reached out and grabbed Hei Yang's shoulder. "What's going on down there? Which side are you on?"
Hei Yang furrowed his brow, turned around, grabbed the Di Hou's arm, twisted it behind his back, and pressed a shard of something against his neck.
"You..."
Though the Di Hou was restrained, he still looked puzzled.
Hei Yang was already covered in wounds. In a situation like this, shouldn't he be focused on saving himself?
"Are you a Zao Fan Zhe...?" the Di Hou asked uncertainly. "Do you want to save this Ren Ji...?"
"Their lives have nothing to do with me," Hei Yang said gravely. "Tell me where Tian Hu is."
"Tian Hu...?" The Di Hou paused, recalling the scene he had seen in the hallway earlier.
Tian Hu was clearly entangled with a Di Hu, the two of them locked in a fierce battle. It was so brutal that no other Sheng Xiao nearby dared to intervene.
Seeing the Di Hou hesitate for a few seconds, Hei Yang knew he was hiding something. He tightened his grip on the shard and, without warning, stabbed a bloody hole in the Di Hou's shoulder, then pressed it back against his neck.
"Ah!"
The Di Hou hadn't expected Hei Yang to attack without a word. The intense pain made him cry out.
He clutched his shoulder, feeling blood gushing out between his fingers.
"I'm out of time..." Hei Yang said weakly from behind the Di Hou. "I'll poke a hole in you every ten seconds until you take me to Tian Hu."
The Di Hou tried to move but found that Hei Yang had him pinned by the wrist from behind. Escaping would mean sacrificing an arm.
"No... you, you're crazy...?" the Di Hou gritted his teeth and replied. "We don't even know each other... Do you really want to make an enemy of me? And my teacher is Tian Hou—if you do this..."
Without a word, Hei Yang stabbed another hole in the Di Hou's shoulder, eliciting another scream.
"I'm in a hurry," Hei Yang said, forcing himself to stay alert. "Take me to Tian Hu."
Seeing Hei Yang's frenzied state, the Di Hou had no choice but to nod in agreement. His earlier composure was gone—he was just following Qing Long's orders to provide support here, and he didn't want to throw his life away for nothing.
Hei Yang glanced at the Ren Hou one last time, then left expressionlessly with the Di Hou in tow.
...
"Tsk, what did you say?" Zhou Mo stared blankly at the Lou Yi Wang, still looking confused. "You've seen Qi Xia?"
The Lou Yi Wang reached out and grabbed Zhou Mo, conveying its thoughts fully.
"You're saying Long wants to... escape?" Zhou Mo wasn't entirely sure what the Lou Yi Wang meant, but since its words could only be transmitted to her, she had to ask as clearly as possible. "Tsk, which Long? And escape where?"
The Lou Yi Wang didn't speak; it just held onto Zhou Mo's hand. After a moment, Zhou Mo nodded repeatedly.
"Good... damn it, I get it..."
"What's going on?" Yan Zhi Chun sensed something was off and frowned at Zhou Mo.
"Tsk, those bastards... Things seem to have changed..." Zhou Mo turned back with a serious expression and said to Jiang Ruo Xue and Yan Zhi Chun, "Let me think where to start..."
"Hit the main points," Yan Zhi Chun said. "Is something up with Qi Xia?"
"No... it's Tian Long..." Zhou Mo shook his head. "This Lou Yi says Tian Long anticipated Qi Xia's rebellion and even secretly fueled it because he wants to use the chaos to completely escape from Zhong Yan Zhi Di and leave Qing Long trapped there. That's why this person was demoted from Di Ji to Lou Yi after discovering Tian Long's secret."
Yan Zhi Chun's eyes widened slightly upon hearing this, but he quickly focused on another key point: "Wait... it said it already told Qi Xia about this?"
"That's right. It wrote the words 'escape' and 'Long' in Qi Xia's palm, but there wasn't time to convey more."
Yan Zhi Chun lowered his head in thought for a moment, realizing that this Zao Fan event seemed to involve multiple layers of schemes. It looked like a group of Can Yu Zhe rebelling, but with Tian Long stirring things up and Qing Long pulling strings behind the scenes, Qi Xia was now turning their plans against them. In this game among monsters, could the ordinary Can Yu Zhe really get what they wanted?
"So... what do we do now?" Jiang Ruo Xue asked, equally puzzled.
