Di Hou quickly stepped forward and covered Jiang Ruoxue's mouth.
"Fuck..." Di Hou glanced out the window for a long time, only lowering his hand after confirming no Jing Lei had been triggered.
"Don't cover my mouth!" Jiang Ruoxue reached up and wiped her lips with a hint of disgust. "Did you even wash your hands?"
"Who cares about washing hands right now?" Di Hou said. "If you want to die, do it on your own—don't drag me into it. I have other important things to handle. Go on, get out and rebel by yourselves."
"You're already on the rebel list," Jiang Ruoxue said loudly. "If we leave, you're still a Zaofan Zhe."
"Damn it!" Di Hou tried to step forward again to cover Jiang Ruoxue's mouth, but she backed away two steps to dodge him.
"Really! Didn't you check the list?" Jiang Ruoxue demanded. "Shen Hou on the Zaofan Zhe list—isn't that you? We followed the map here!"
"Don't fucking say another word!"
"Maybe you haven't gotten the message yet," Jiang Ruoxue continued, raising her voice. "In our Ji Dao rebellion plan, you're the one who's supposed to provide support. Now..."
"Fine, fine, fine!"
Di Hou shouted, trying to drown out Jiang Ruoxue's volume, then lowered his voice to say to her, "You bastard... you're forcing me into this..."
"Heh heh." Jiang Ruoxue also lowered her voice and smirked. "Consider it a pledge of loyalty. My apologies."
"I'm asking you to convince me," Di Hou said, "not scare the shit out of me."
"The result's the same," Jiang Ruoxue replied. "At dusk, open the door and let everyone behind me get on the Lianchi."
Di Hou thought for a few seconds, then asked, "What's in it for me?"
"We'll stir up total chaos on the Lianchi," Jiang Ruoxue said. "Maybe we can even deal with Tian Hou for you."
Di Hou nodded, his mind racing, and then asked, "Can you all create a Lifeng?"
Jiang Ruoxue paused, looking confused. "Create a Lifeng where? What kind of Lifeng?"
Di Hou sighed, realizing the woman in front of him couldn't achieve his goal.
Of course, he knew he was a Zaofan Zhe.
But when Qi Xia had assigned him the task years ago, he had been told to wait for a Lifeng to appear.
Qi Xia had said that theoretically, this Lifeng shouldn't exist—that no one, no matter how bold, could create it here.
Now, rebellions were breaking out everywhere, and even the Sheng Xiao were gathering in rooms for meetings, but the Lifeng still hadn't shown up.
"Was I lied to...?" Di Hou muttered with a furrowed brow. "Without a Lifeng, when can I join the action? Is there even a place for me in this plan?"
Jiang Ruoxue seemed to pick up on something key from Di Hou's words.
"A Lifeng... is what you need to act?"
Before Di Hou could respond, Jiang Ruoxue quickly bent down and took off her leather shoe, then slammed the heel hard onto the old, rickety table.
The table, already worn out, cracked immediately under the force.
"Fuck! What are you doing? This is solid wood!"
"There, a Lifeng," Jiang Ruoxue said, holding up her shoe. "Can you act now? Can we use the Men?"
"That's not what I meant at all!" Di Hou said, growing anxious.
"Got it." Jiang Ruoxue nodded. "One isn't enough, right?"
She leaned over and glanced at the gambling table behind Di Hou. "Hey, fatty, just wait."
"Stop, stop, stop!" Di Hou hurriedly stepped forward and pulled Jiang Ruoxue back. "The Lifeng I'm waiting for is something that's theoretically impossible to create..."
"Exactly, what Canyuzhe would ever crack the table you use every day?"
"It's not..." Di Hou thought for a moment and added, "Even if someone had the guts, there's no way they could create that Lifeng..."
"So what?" Jiang Ruoxue raised an eyebrow. "Don't I have the guts?"
Di Hou was speechless. He knew the Lifeng couldn't appear so abruptly, but what other options did he have?
If he didn't make a move soon, he'd be left out of the plan entirely.
"Alright, stop hitting things..." Di Hou said. "You all can rest here for now, but I'm warning you—I'm half-blind and didn't see a thing. If Xuan Wu or Zhu Que shows up to stop you, I'll turn you in on the spot."
Jiang Ruoxue was slightly taken aback. "Wait... Xuan Wu and Zhu Que showing up to stop us?"
"Isn't that obvious?" Di Hou said. "Such a serious Weigui has to be handled by one of them. But it's never happened before, so I'm not sure which one it would be."
Jiang Ruoxue nodded. "So that's why it's a dead Men... Only facing Zhu Que would mean true death."
...
Zhou Mo and the short Di Zhu had been arguing for a while before realizing they were on the same team.
The atmosphere grew awkward, and neither said a word. Zhou Mo stepped aside and began using Chuanyin to check in on everyone.
She first contacted Song Qi, asking about the overall situation with the Mao. Regardless of whether they killed Xuan Wu, it was all part of Zhou Mo's plan, and as expected, the Mao had actually taken down a seemingly invulnerable Xuan Wu.
Song Qi couldn't explain the method clearly through Chuanyin; he just told Zhou Mo, "Everything's under control."
Zhou Mo tried to contact Wang Ba next, but there was no response. The same went for Jiang Shi—their end was like sending a message into a void with no echo.
She quickly composed herself and sent a Chuanyin to Qian Wu.
"Brother Wu, how's it going over there?"
Qian Wu took a long time to respond, sounding utterly exhausted.
"I've tracked down every Sheng Xiao who owes the Mao a favor today," Qian Wu said. "Only one agreed to Kui Tao, but the others promised other kinds of help to try and severely wound Zhu Que."
"Can we trust them?" Zhou Mo asked.
"We have to," Qian Wu replied. "I suspect there'll be casualties on Xuan Wu's side. The fight against Zhu Que will depend on me and Old Qi. What about you?"
"It's going smoothly for now..." Zhou Mo said. She paused, as if remembering something. "Brother Wu... are you really planning to board the Lianchi from my side after this is over?"
"Yes," Qian Wu answered. "Just like we discussed last night, but keep it secret for me."
"But why...?" Zhou Mo said. "I know it's not about wanting to live, because getting on the Lianchi makes death even more likely than fighting Zhu Que. So why go through with it?"
"It's something I promised another person a long time ago," Qian Wu said. "I still need to help take down Qing Long."
