Chapter 826: Little River God

Chapter 825: The Little River God

Zhu Yan stood on the edge of the well, his head covered in dust, and he was shivering.

In the darkness, the little girl's voice came again. "Are you coming down? If you don't, I'll have to come up and find you."

Zhu Yan quickly climbed down the well rope.

With a splash, he landed in the well. The well water was cold and icy, sending a chill through him.

The little girl's voice seemed to come from everywhere. "Follow the water and come in."

Zhu Yan didn't hesitate. He held his breath and followed the direction the little girl indicated.

The well wasn't very deep. As soon as he went down, he found a dark, narrow passage at the bottom.

He swam into the passage. The water wasn't deep, only coming up to his waist.

He fumbled his way forward in the darkness. After about the length of a tea-drinking session, his head suddenly emerged from the water, and he could breathe again.

He was in a cave.

The cave was not dark. There was a faint blue light, soft and gentle, like moonlight.

He looked around. The cave was not large, only about the size of a room.

At the center of the cave was a small lake. In the middle of the lake, there was a small island, no more than a few square feet in size.

On the island, there was a tiny stone house.

A little girl, wearing a red jacket and red pants, was sitting on a stone stool in front of the stone house, looking at him with a smile.

Zhu Yan looked at the little girl. He was shocked.

This little girl was exceptionally beautiful, as if carved from jade. Her skin was fair, her eyebrows were long, and her eyes were like black pearls.

But she was too young. She looked only about six or seven years old.

"Who are you?" Zhu Yan asked, his voice trembling.

The little girl smiled. "I'm the Little River God."

Zhu Yan was even more shocked. The Little River God? He had never heard of such a deity.

"Little River God? What kind of god is that?"

"I'm the god of this river," the little girl said proudly. "My father is the Great River God. He left me here to guard this river."

"Your father is the Great River God?"

"Yes, my father is the Great River God."

Zhu Yan was still skeptical. He had heard of many gods, but never a Great River God or a Little River God.

"Are you really a god?" he asked cautiously.

The little girl giggled. "Of course I am. Look."

She raised her hand, and a small fish jumped out of the lake, circled around her, and then jumped back into the water.

"This is my power," she said. "I can control all the creatures in the water."

Zhu Yan was convinced. This little girl was indeed extraordinary.

"Why did you save me?" he asked.

"Because you're a good person," the little girl said. "You didn't harm any living creatures in the river."

Zhu Yan was touched. He had always been kind to animals, and he was glad that his kindness had been rewarded.

"Thank you, Little River God," he said sincerely.

"You're welcome," the little girl said. "But you can't stay here for long. This is the realm of the gods, and mortals cannot stay here for too long."

"Where should I go?"

"Go back to where you came from," the little girl said. "But be careful. There are many dangers in the outside world."

"I understand."

"Go now," the little girl said. "And remember, be kind to all living creatures."

Zhu Yan bowed to the little girl. "Thank you, Little River God. I will remember your words."

He turned and walked back into the passage.

As he swam back, he felt a warmth in his chest.

He knew that he had been given a second chance, and he would cherish it.

He emerged from the well, covered in dust and water, but his heart was filled with hope.

He looked up at the sky. The stars were shining brightly.

He knew that his life had just begun.

He walked away from the well, his steps firm and resolute.

He was ready to face the world, with the Little River God's words in his heart.

He would be kind to all living creatures, and he would live a life worthy of his second chance.

The End.
