Fourth Hundred Eighty-fifth Chapter: Stealing "Food"

"Oh, isn't this Commander Gu? What are you doing here, looking so distraught?" Su Yiyun glanced at Gu Chen and asked with a knowing smile.

Gu Chen's face was flushed, and he stuttered, "Uh, nothing, I was just admiring the scenery."

"The scenery is indeed beautiful here, but I see that you're looking at the door, not the scenery. You seem to be anticipating something," Su Yiyun said.

Gu Chen's expression changed, and he felt as if his thoughts had been seen through. He quickly changed the subject, "Master Su, what are you doing here?"

Su Yiyun smiled and said, "I heard that the young lady is treating me to a meal, so I came here to enjoy it."

Gu Chen was taken aback and asked in surprise, "The young lady is treating you to a meal?"

"That's right," Su Yiyun nodded.

Gu Chen's expression became complicated. He had been guarding the door for a long time, trying to find an opportunity to see Su Qingyin, but he hadn't succeeded. Su Yiyun, on the other hand, was being treated to a meal by her. This difference in treatment made him feel a bit jealous.

He was about to say something when the door to the room opened. Su Qingyin walked out and said to Su Yiyun, "Master Su, the meal is ready. Please come in."

Su Yiyun smiled and said, "Thank you, young lady." He then walked into the room.

Gu Chen watched them enter the room, feeling a mix of emotions. He wanted to go in as well, but he knew he didn't have an invitation. He could only stand outside, feeling a sense of loss.

Inside the room, the table was set with a sumptuous meal. Su Qingyin said to Su Yiyun, "Master Su, please make yourself at home."

Su Yiyun sat down and looked at the dishes on the table. He smiled and said, "Thank you, young lady. This looks delicious."

Su Qingyin also sat down and said, "Please eat. I hope you like it."

Su Yiyun began to eat, and he found the food to be very delicious. He praised Su Qingyin's cooking skills, and Su Qingyin smiled in return.

As they were eating, Su Yiyun suddenly asked, "Young lady, why are you treating me to a meal today?"

Su Qingyin paused for a moment and then said, "Because I want to thank you for helping me."

Su Yiyun smiled and said, "It was my pleasure."

They continued to eat and chat. Su Yiyun told Su Qingyin some interesting stories, and Su Qingyin listened with a smile.

Outside the room, Gu Chen was still standing by the door. He could hear the laughter coming from inside, and he felt even more left out. He sighed and turned to leave, but then he stopped. He hesitated for a moment, and then he quietly walked towards the door.

He peeked through the crack in the door and saw Su Qingyin and Su Yiyun talking and laughing. He felt a pang of jealousy in his heart.

He wanted to go in and join them, but he knew it wasn't appropriate. He could only stand there, watching them from a distance.

After a while, Su Yiyun and Su Qingyin finished their meal. Su Yiyun thanked Su Qingyin for the meal and said he would take his leave.

Su Qingyin walked him to the door, and they said goodbye. Su Yiyun then left.

Gu Chen quickly hid when he saw Su Yiyun coming out. After Su Yiyun left, Gu Chen walked back to the door of Su Qingyin's room.

He hesitated for a moment, and then he knocked on the door.

Su Qingyin opened the door and saw Gu Chen standing there. She looked surprised and asked, "Commander Gu, what are you doing here?"

Gu Chen felt a bit awkward and said, "Uh, nothing, I was just passing by."

Su Qingyin didn't believe him, but she didn't expose him. She just smiled and said, "Oh, I see. Well, I'm going to rest now. Please excuse me."

She was about to close the door, but Gu Chen quickly said, "Young lady, can I talk to you for a moment?"

Su Qingyin hesitated, and then she said, "Alright, come in."

Gu Chen quickly walked into the room. Su Qingyin closed the door and turned to face him.

Gu Chen didn't know what to say. He just stood there, looking at her.

Su Qingyin waited for him to speak, but he remained silent. She finally broke the silence and asked, "Commander Gu, what did you want to talk about?"

Gu Chen finally spoke, but he stammered, "Uh, I, I just wanted to, to see you."

Su Qingyin's expression softened slightly. She said, "Commander Gu, if you just want to see me, you can come here anytime. You don't have to make up an excuse."

Gu Chen felt a bit embarrassed. He said, "I know, but I was afraid I would disturb you."

Su Qingyin smiled and said, "You won't disturb me. Please feel free to come and see me whenever you want."

Gu Chen's heart felt a warmth spread through it. He looked at Su Qingyin, and he felt a strong urge to tell her how he felt about her. However, he didn't have the courage to do so.

He stayed in the room for a while, talking to Su Qingyin. He felt happy just being in her presence.

When he finally left, he felt a sense of satisfaction. He had seen Su Qingyin, and he had even talked to her. That was enough for him, at least for now.
