After learning the new fireball technique, Mo Hua put all his thoughts into array methods.
Several days later, Mo Hua had proficiently mastered the Reverse Spirit Array. He then went to ask Mr. Zhuang. Mr. Zhuang pondered for a moment, but suddenly asked:
"Hua'er, cultivators seek the Heavenly Way. Do you know what the Heavenly Way is?"
Mo Hua thought for a bit and answered, "Immortality?"
"Immortality is the result, not the Heavenly Way itself."
"Immortality and attaining the Dao are not the same?" Mo Hua asked.
Mr. Zhuang looked at Mo Hua and spoke with deep earnestness:
"Cultivators attain the Dao and thus immortality. Only by comprehending the Great Dao and practicing the Heavenly Way can one finally achieve immortality."
"To not experience the Heavenly Way, practice the laws of the Great Dao, and then delusionally seek immortality is abandoning the fundamentals for the ends. It will inevitably lead to the wrong path."
Mo Hua somewhat understood and not, but still nodded, remembering Mr. Zhuang's words.
"Then do the Five Elements count as the Heavenly Way?" Mo Hua thought for a bit and asked again.
"They count," Mr. Zhuang said.
"The Five Elements count as..." Mo Hua followed the thought, "Then do the Two Principles, Three Talents, Four Symbols, Seven Stars, and so on, all count? Or alternatively, is the way of using divine sense, the physical body, and spiritual power all a kind of Heavenly Way?"
Mo Hua was somewhat uncertain.
Mr. Zhuang nodded.
Mo Hua was startled. "Like this, isn't the Great Dao too miscellaneous..."
Mr. Zhuang said: "The Great Dao has ten thousand kinds, encompassing all things. Everything in this world, every blade of grass, every tree, every flower, all accord with the Heavenly Way."
Seeing Mo Hua not quite understand, Mr. Zhuang explained again:
"Ancient cultivators looked up at astronomy, looked down at geography, observed the hundred states of all things in the world, and comprehended the laws of heaven and earth's power operation. This is how they created cultivation methods, Dao methods, and all cultivation techniques, as well as arrays, pills, talismans, tools, and each type of cultivation category."
"Everything in the world follows the Heavenly Way, and cultivators' power also originates from the Heavenly Way."
Mo Hua carefully pondered for a bit, and doubted:
"Everything in the world follows the Heavenly Way, then those who go against the Heavenly Way, do they count as following, or going against?"
"The so-called going against the Heavenly Way is actually also following the Heavenly Way."
Mr. Zhuang explained, "The Great Dao has birth and extinction. Those who follow the Heavenly Way follow the 'birth' Heavenly Way, while those who go against the Heavenly Way follow the 'extinction' Heavenly Way."
Mo Hua suddenly realized, and understood something.
The Heavenly Way divides into Two Principles, mutually judging and mutually forming.
Existence and non-existence mutually birth, birth and extinction mutually shape, positive and evil mutually compare, good and evil mutually follow.
Ten thousand kinds are all Dao. All of people's behaviors also follow 'Dao', but some 'Dao' endlessly give birth, while some 'Dao' can only seek extinction.
Mo Hua thought for a bit again, still having a point not quite understood:
"Everything in the world follows the Heavenly Way, then what is seen and heard is all Dao, so what Heavenly Way do cultivators still seek?"
Mr. Zhuang said: "The Great Dao encompasses all things, but encompassing all things also means chaos and miscellaneous. There is positive and evil, true and false, surface appearance and fundamental appearance."
"People have eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. Things have color, sound, fragrance, taste, touch, and law. What is seen, heard, and known daily are interwoven with good and bad, true and false are hard to discern. Over time, one naturally indulges in falsehood and shallowness, making it hard to glimpse the fundamental appearance of the Great Dao."
Mo Hua's gaze slightly brightened, then said:
"Just like looking at a visualization diagram, one needs to see through the surface appearance and glimpse the fundamental appearance?"
Mr. Zhuang's gaze was gratified, and he slightly nodded.
Mo Hua was again somewhat doubtful, "Then what counts as the fundamental appearance of the Great Dao?"
Mr. Zhuang said: "This requires you to think for yourself. As long as you have not become immortal, the Dao you comprehend is not the essential Dao. Some even have flaws, and some are even erroneous Dao."
Mr. Zhuang then laughed: "I also haven't become immortal yet, so what I tell you is definitely not entirely right. The fundamental appearance I've comprehended may possibly just be a deeper layer of surface appearance, not the final Great Dao."
"I understand, Mister." Mo Hua nodded, "To experience and understand the reason for oneself, only then does it count as one's own. Otherwise, no matter how much others say, no matter how right they are, if I haven't experienced it myself, there's no way for me to comprehend it."
"So, to seek the Heavenly Way, one needs to rely on self-comprehension. Even if the initial comprehension is shallow, as long as one always thinks and always comprehends, gradually removing the false and keeping the true, one can finally see the fundamental appearance of the Great Dao."
Mr. Zhuang nodded and said: "Well said."
Mo Hua smiled, and again somewhat uncertainly said: "Mister, I am now only in the Qi Refining stage. Isn't it too early to be thinking about comprehending the Heavenly Way..."
Mr. Zhuang shook his head, and his voice was gentle as he said:
"Cultivation starts from Qi Refining, and comprehending the Dao also starts from one point and one drop. Step by step, from low to high, from weak to strong, from shallow to deep, only then can one shape the Dao Heart and truly experience the Great Dao."
"It's like looking at this world in general. Looking down from a high position will create a blindfold of self, and you will only see yourself. Only by looking up from the lowest layer, looking at the common people of this world, and seeing the hardships of cultivators, can you see the most essential things in this world."
Mo Hua nodded, as if thoughtful.
But he was after all young, and his experience was limited. Although he roughly knew Mr. Zhuang's meaning, he had not seen the vaster cultivation world outside Tongxian City, so his experience was still not deep.
Mr. Zhuang slightly sighed, "These principles, I originally didn't want to tell you now. Telling you now is still too early..."
But if he didn't say it now, he wasn't sure if he would have the time to say it later...
Mo Hua was startled, and also understood Mr. Zhuang's meaning. He then solemnly nodded and said:
"Mister, I have remembered everything!"
Mr. Zhuang smiled slightly and then said:
"Now that you understand this principle, I can teach you the usage of the Reverse Spirit Array."
Mo Hua was somewhat astonished, "Does the Reverse Spirit Array have a connection with this?"
Mr. Zhuang said: "Cultivators seek the Heavenly Way. There is the aspect of the Dao Heart, and there is also the aspect of cultivation. To seek the Great Dao, both the Dao Heart and cultivation are indispensable."
"What was said above is related to the Dao Heart. What I will teach you below is related to cultivation and arrays, or rather, it is the essence of the Heavenly Way in the aspect of spiritual power."
Mr. Zhuang's tone gradually slowed, and his gaze also gradually deepened.
Mo Hua's gaze was sharp, and he sat up straight and properly, listening seriously.
Mr. Zhuang gently exhaled and then slowly said:
"The origin of heaven and earth is qi. In the beginning, when Hong Meng was first judged, one qi transformed and gave birth to all things in heaven and earth."
"The initial qi was called Hong Meng qi. It was chaotic and powerful. After who knows how many years, the chaos was cleansed, and it became the origin qi of myriad things."
"Among them, the purest and most abundant, which can be refined and used by cultivators, is spiritual qi. Spiritual qi contains the power of the Heavenly Way, and this power is called spiritual power."
"The myriad cultivation methods and Dao methods in the world, although they differ, such as metal, wood, water, fire, earth, wind, thunder, ice, and so on, their fundamental is the manifestation of spiritual power."
"Techniques of spirit cultivation, and even the blood qi and strength of body cultivation, which appear vastly different, are also all forms manifested by spiritual power."
Mo Hua was suddenly enlightened:
"So the Five Elements power, as well as techniques, blood qi, and strength, are all surface appearances, and spiritual power is the origin of these powers?"
Mr. Zhuang nodded, "Correct, all Dao methods, whether techniques or martial arts, are constituted by spiritual power."
"Arrays too?"
"Arrays too."
Mo Hua thought for a bit and then understood.
Arrays need an array eye to provide spiritual power. Spiritual power flows through array patterns, finally forming completely different Five Elements array power.
"Then what will be different about the Reverse Spirit Array?" Mo Hua asked.
Mr. Zhuang paused for a bit and slowly said:
"Ordinary arrays are condensed and constituted by spiritual power, forming the power of the Five Elements. The Reverse Spirit Array, on the other hand, makes spiritual power reverse change and decompose, producing a purer, and also closer to the origin of the Great Dao's destruction power."
"The Great Dao has birth and extinction. Gathering gives birth, and decomposing leads to extinction!"
"The Reverse Spirit Array contains the extinction and decomposition power of the Great Dao! It truly decomposes, not the arrays, but the more essential spiritual power within the arrays!"
