Chapter 27

The second chapter, "Injury Situation."

When Liu Shan heard that Liu Bei was unconscious and didn't know if he was alive or dead, he felt a jolt and immediately ordered someone to prepare his horse and carriage to go to the Prime Minister's residence to visit his father.

When he arrived at the Prime Minister's residence, Liu Shan quickly dismounted and headed towards the inner courtyard. Along the way, the servants bowed and greeted him, but no one dared to stop him. When he reached the inner courtyard, a general with a worried expression stood guard outside a room. Seeing Liu Shan arrive, he bowed and said, "Greetings, Your Highness."

Liu Shan recognized this person. He was Zhao Yun, one of his father's trusted generals. He quickly asked, "General Zhao, how is my father?"

Zhao Yun sighed and said, "His condition is not good. The doctor just said he's temporarily out of danger, but..."

Liu Shan's heart sank. "But what?"

Zhao Yun hesitated for a moment, then said, "But his injuries are very severe. He suffered a major head injury and multiple fractures."

Liu Shan's face turned pale. He clenched his fists and asked, "Can I see him?"

Zhao Yun nodded and said, "Yes, please come in."

Liu Shan walked into the room and saw his father lying on the bed, his head wrapped in bandages, his face ashen. A doctor and two maids were attending to him. Seeing Liu Shan enter, the doctor and maids quickly bowed.

Liu Shan waved his hand and said, "You may rise. Doctor, how exactly is my father?"

The doctor bowed again and said, "Reporting to Your Highness, the Emperor's injuries are very serious. Besides the head injury, he also has several broken ribs and a fractured leg. He is currently unconscious and his life is still in danger."

Liu Shan felt a chill run down his spine. He looked at his father, who was lying there motionless, and his eyes welled up with tears. He choked out, "Can he recover?"

The doctor hesitated and said, "It's hard to say. We will do our best, but..."

Liu Shan felt a pang of despair. He turned to Zhao Yun and asked, "General Zhao, who did this to my father?"

Zhao Yun's expression turned grim. "It was a group of assassins. They ambushed the Emperor on his way back from the hunting grounds."

Liu Shan's eyes blazed with anger. "Assassins? Who sent them?"

Zhao Yun shook his head and said, "We don't know yet. They were all killed during the fight."

Liu Shan's fists tightened. "We must find out who is behind this!"

Zhao Yun bowed and said, "Yes, Your Highness. We are already investigating."

Liu Shan stayed by his father's bedside for a while, then left the room with a heavy heart. As he walked out, he heard a voice call out, "Your Highness!"

He turned and saw Zhuge Liang standing there, his face etched with worry. Liu Shan quickly walked over to him and said, "Prime Minister, have you heard about my father?"

Zhuge Liang nodded and said, "Yes, I have. I just arrived. How is the Emperor?"

Liu Shan sighed and said, "His condition is very serious. The doctor said his life is still in danger."

Zhuge Liang's face grew even more solemn. He looked at Liu Shan and said, "Your Highness, at this critical time, you must remain calm."

Liu Shan nodded and said, "I understand, Prime Minister. We must find out who is behind this and bring them to justice."

Zhuge Liang nodded and said, "Yes, we will. I will coordinate the investigation. In the meantime, you must take care of yourself."

Liu Shan felt a sense of gratitude towards Zhuge Liang. With his father incapacitated, Zhuge Liang was the most reliable person he could depend on. He said, "Thank you, Prime Minister. I will."

He knew that a great challenge lay ahead. With his father's life hanging in the balance, he would have to step up and take responsibility. He was ready.
