Chapter 17: Like the Sea, Also Like a Mirror
The sudden change in the weather and the shift in the wind stirred up a strange, inexplicable feeling in his heart.
That night, he stood on the shore, gazing at the vast, turbulent sea. The waves crashed against the rocks with a mighty roar. The spray filled the air, blurring his vision. He felt as though a monstrous beast was emerging from the depths, its immense power threatening to devour everything in its path.
The next day, the storm subsided. The sea returned to its calm, mirror-like state. The sun shone brightly, illuminating the golden sand. Children played along the shoreline, their laughter echoing in the air. It was a scene of tranquility and peace.
He sat on the beach, observing the gentle lapping of the waves. The sea was like a mirror, reflecting the azure sky and the white clouds above. He saw his own reflection in the water, a face etched with weariness and contemplation.
Suddenly, a voice broke the silence.
"Are you alright?"
He looked up to see a young woman standing before him. She had kind eyes and a gentle smile.
"Yes, I'm fine," he replied, his voice raspy.
"The sea can be both beautiful and terrifying, can't it?" she said, her gaze fixed on the horizon.
"Like life," he murmured.
"Indeed," she said, then extended a hand. "My name is Li Hua."
He hesitated for a moment, then took her hand. "Zhang Wei."
They sat in silence for a while, watching the waves. The sea was no longer a reflection of the sky, but of the endless possibilities that lay ahead.
