Chapter 2443: Walking in the Long Night

Chapter 52: Walking in the Long Night

Cāng Lóng followed behind Qiū Yè, his steps steady and unhurried. Even though they were walking in the mountains under the cover of night, with the terrain being rugged and the paths unclear, their speed was remarkably fast.

Qiū Yè walked in front, seemingly familiar with the paths, even though it was pitch black. His figure merged with the darkness, as if he were a part of the night itself.

Cāng Lóng watched his back. After leaving the courtyard, Qiū Yè hadn't said a word. The atmosphere was strangely quiet, yet there was a tension in the air.

Suddenly, Qiū Yè stopped. Cāng Lóng also halted, his eyes fixed on Qiū Yè's back.

"Is there something on your mind?" Qiū Yè's voice was low, resonating with the silence of the night.

Cāng Lóng remained silent for a moment, then said, "Nothing in particular. I was just thinking, it's strange."

"What's strange?"

"Why did you wait for me?"

"Because I knew you would come."

"How could you be so sure?"

Qiū Yè turned around, his gaze meeting Cāng Lóng's in the darkness. Although his face was obscured, Cāng Lóng could feel the intensity of his eyes.

"Some things are destined," Qiū Yè said softly. "Just like the moon rises after the sun sets."

Cāng Lóng was silent again. He didn't understand the meaning behind Qiū Yè's words, but he felt a sense of familiarity, a connection that transcended words.

They continued their journey, the mountain wind rustling through the trees, the only sound besides their footsteps. The path became steeper and more treacherous, but they moved with practiced ease.

As they climbed higher, the stars became more visible, dotting the dark sky like scattered diamonds. The air grew colder, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth.

Finally, they reached the summit. The view was breathtaking. The entire valley lay below, a sea of shadows under the faint moonlight.

Qiū Yè stood at the edge of the cliff, his cloak billowing in the wind. He looked out at the vast expanse, his expression unreadable.

Cāng Lóng stood beside him, feeling a sense of awe and mystery. He didn't know where they were going, or what awaited them, but he trusted Qiū Yè implicitly.

"The night is long," Qiū Yè said, his voice barely a whisper. "And the road ahead is even longer. Are you ready?"

Cāng Lóng met his gaze, his heart filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation.

"I am ready," he replied, his voice firm.

Qiū Yè nodded, a faint smile touching his lips.

"Then let us walk in the long night," he said, and with that, he turned and began to descend the other side of the mountain, with Cāng Lóng following closely behind. The night was indeed long, and their journey had just begun.
