In August, we held an offline alliance leader gathering.
We rented two villas and forty-one alliance leaders came, gathering for three days and two nights. We chatted about writing experiences, plots, and the fate of everyone and Chi Xin. Many people wrote short essays, pouring out their innermost feelings with the help of wine, saying how much they liked this story, and I was deeply moved. I, who never smoked or drank, also inevitably drank cup after cup.
This gathering started being discussed at the beginning of the year. In the alliance group, everyone gathered their available times, and finally, most people felt that August 12th was a good time.
Similar gatherings had been held before, but that was already two years ago.
Given everyone's understanding of my writing speed, they originally expected me to take leave during the gathering. They also all expressed that they would help me cover for it and withstand readers' scolding.
At that time, we didn't expect that *Chi Xin Xun Tian* could actually get first place, and that it would be achieved in July, just before the gathering.
Taking leave right after getting first place would inevitably create suspicion of putting on airs...
To maintain continuous updates, I crazily stockpiled manuscripts. While they were singing, playing board games, gaming, playing billiards... I was finding places everywhere to write and revise text.
I stayed up until three or four in the morning and still took out my notebook in the morning.
Fortunately, I still relatively completely achieved my writing goals.
During the gathering, everyone also had many ideas and said some words about bitter endings followed by sweet ones, but no one expected that the results in August could actually be even better.
Throughout August, we dominated the bestseller list.
On July 31st, the average order was thirty-seven thousand seven hundred. On August 31st, the average order reached forty-four thousand two hundred.
This August felt a bit dreamlike. A book with six million eight hundred thousand words increased by six thousand five hundred average orders in one month.
This month, we also won first place in monthly tickets.
Frankly speaking, I was a bit stunned.
I think besides everyone's support for this book and the reward of monthly ticket red envelopes from the five-star glory event, it also lies in the fact that the previous six million eight hundred thousand words of this novel were indeed written with heart.
I poured my emotions into the words and lines, and the readers perceived it. During those times that were unknown to others, my struggles with some readers were seen by more readers.
The recent dozens of new alliances are mostly new readers who just started. This shows that this novel, which has been serialized for nearly four years, is still continuously attracting new readers.
In 2019, my writing level was definitely not as good as it is in 2023. I haven these past few years, and if I haven't made any progress, that would be too useless.
So, if new readers have criticisms about certain plots, that is also reasonable. I hope old readers don't need to blame them—new readers haven't yet entered this world, while old readers have already traveled in this world for a long time. What feels vivid to everyone is temporarily still a flower in the mirror in the eyes of passers-by.
It's still that same sentence—if some readers don't like this book, it's definitely not the problem of those readers. Everyone is born with different preferences. Of course, it won't be my problem either. I write so carefully, and I have already done everything I can. I can only say that reading sometimes also requires fate.
I am a very confident person, but the current results of *Chi Xin Xun Tian* do not mean we can close the coffin and conclude that this is an excellent work.
At most, we can only say that the previous six million eight hundred thousand words were indeed written with heart, but how the subsequent writing will be still remains to be seen.
I always believe that the most important part of a novel is its ending.
Only when we see the complete three words "Full Book Complete" can we comprehensively review this book—does it have a good beginning and a good end? Does it build a complete world? Is it worthy of the expectations borne along this journey?
When we read, we want to see the spirit from beginning to end. We want to see the stars in the sky forming a bouquet of flowers, and thousands of threads finally becoming a ceremonial robe.
Ancient people painting said, "painting a dragon and dotting the eyes." Without the last stroke, the painted dragon cannot come to life.
I am not sure I can do well, but I will still do as I promised when I first started the book—I will exhaust all my efforts.
The story has progressed to now. Wang Zai can already look up and see the view from the absolute peak. The pit in the Xue He Sect is almost filled. The handwriting of various saints is known to people, and the veil of the near ancient era has also been lifted.
Everyone, please help me remember how many pits are yet to be filled. Remember to remind me.
Okay, lunch is eaten, and digestion is complete. Time to start working now.
Let's welcome September.
