Chapter 791: Good and Bad

Chapter 791: Good and Bad

"Misunderstanding, you call it a misunderstanding." Hong Chen Xue instantly put on her clothes, her entire body seemingly igniting with flames. She stepped forward and slapped Ye Chen to the ground with one palm.

Bang! Boom! Clang! Crash!

Immediately, the pavilion with a huge hole smashed through it echoed with chaotic noises. Ye Chen, who had been flipped onto the ground, was pinned down by Hong Chen Xue and simply didn't get up again.

Boom!

Soon, the entire pavilion collapsed. Ye Chen, beaten black and blue, scrambled out and vanished in an instant.

"Ye Chen, don't let me see you again." Amid the ruins of the pavilion, Hong Chen Xue emerged, her eyes blazing as she watched the direction of his escape. She wanted to chase him, but she couldn't catch up. In Heng Yue Sect, Ye Chen might not be the strongest, but his escape skills were unmatched.

Indeed, Ye Chen's speed in fleeing was no joke—everyone in Da Chu knew it. In just that short time, he had already dashed over a hundred li, only stopping in a remote, desolate mountain corner.

Glancing back and seeing that Hong Chen Xue hadn't followed, he finally took a deep breath.

"This act of yours didn't go over well." Soon, Tai Xu Ancient Dragon's voice rang out with a meaningful tone.

"Old me enjoys it." Ye Chen wiped away some nosebleed, completely unembarrassed.

"But comprehending the basic essence of Suo Di Cheng Cun, that beating was worth it." Tai Xu Ancient Dragon chuckled slyly. "The only regret is that such a tantalizing scene got messed up by you."

Ye Chen ignored Tai Xu Ancient Dragon's last comment and focused on the first part.

Suo Di Cheng Cun, the essence of space—he had indeed grasped some superficial knowledge. Although the outcome was a bit frustrating, overall, it was still cause for celebration. Everything has a difficult beginning, and with one foot already in the door, fully mastering Suo Di Cheng Cun was just a matter of time.

"I think I heard you mention that the Six Dao Xian Lun Eye involves the domain of time and space."

"You can think of it that way." Tai Xu Ancient Dragon replied lazily. "But the essence of the time and space domain isn't just a mix of time and space; it involves an extremely delicate balance. Your Tian Zhao is a mysterious force born from the interplay of time and space, existing between full time-space and half time-space, though it manifests as flames. To truly master time and space, an absolute prerequisite is to completely comprehend both time essence and space essence. Fail that, and you won't even touch time-space essence."

"You're so impressive and skilled in controlling space laws—have you grasped any true principles of time and space?"

"Well..." Tai Xu Ancient Dragon coughed. "I'm just a remnant soul of Tai Xu Ancient Dragon, not all-knowing."

"It's rare to see you not boasting; it's a bit unsettling."

"Nonsense, I just haven't awakened those memories yet."

"You don't say, and I might actually believe it." Ye Chen shook his head and stopped chatting with Tai Xu Ancient Dragon. Having just grasped some basics of space essence, he wanted to strike while the iron was hot.

Soon, he entered a meditative state and began stepping forward repeatedly.

His steps were mysterious, but after trying over a hundred times, he succeeded only once. Each success came with him crashing through a mountain—the subtle changes were hard to control, or he'd end up smashing into one.

As dawn approached, he finally stopped. Although his comprehension of Suo Di Cheng Cun was still just superficial, he was thrilled.

Back to the sect!

Wiping away his sweat, he shot toward Heng Yue Sect like a golden divine light.

In the morning, the sunlight was gentle, bathing Heng Yue Sect in a radiant glow, like a fairy realm on earth.

Yet, beneath the splendor, an air of tension lingered. Zheng Yang Sect was mobilizing troops, and so were they—in the largest joint operation since the alliance. The number of participants and the scale were so immense that even the old veterans couldn't help but sigh in amazement.

By then, Ye Chen had entered the grand hall of Heng Yue Sect.

His entrance made the group of elders, deep in discussion, pause and scrutinize him with curious eyes, their expressions odd.

It wasn't surprising; after just one night, Ye Chen looked a mess—bruised and swollen, clearly beaten, and not lightly.

Ye Chen coughed and scanned the room. Seeing Hong Chen Xue wasn't there, he straightened his collar. "So, how are the preparations going?"

"Everything's ready, just waiting for tonight." Xiao Feng laughed heartily.

"Are you sure Zheng Yang Sect will attack tonight?" Ye Chen looked around at everyone.

"Absolutely accurate."

"That's good." Ye Chen cracked his neck, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes.

"One good news and one bad news." As Ye Chen finished speaking, a cold, ethereal voice echoed into the hall. In the next second, a graceful figure appeared like a ghost—it was Hong Chen Xue.

Seeing Hong Chen Xue enter, Ye Chen touched his nose, his expression turning awkward.

Even so, Hong Chen Xue shot him a fierce glare. If not for the crowd, she might have pinned him down and beaten him like last night.

"Let's hear the bad news first—save the good for suspense." Zhong Kui spoke up.

"The Phantasm Clan has emerged and formed an alliance with Bloodthirsty Hall." Hong Chen Xue took a deep breath.

"An alliance with Bloodthirsty Hall?" Ye Chen frowned. This was indeed bad news. Bloodthirsty Hall already had immense foundations, dominating Northern Chu on its own. Now, allied with the Phantasm Clan, their strength would skyrocket, making it even harder to take them down.

"One Phantasm, one Bloodthirsty—this old man calculates that they might be distant relatives." Wu Ya Dao Ren was at it again, showing off with his usual serious demeanor.

"As you say, these two forces do have origins." Tian Zong Old Ancestor spoke slowly. "In ancient times, they were from the same lineage. Over the ages, they split into the Phantasm and Bloodthirsty branches. Now, reuniting after so long, it's quite troublesome."

"What's the good news?" The Su Family Old Ancestor and others turned to Hong Chen Xue.

"The good news is that a mysterious force is opposing them, with equally deep power and foundations." Hong Chen Xue continued. "For now, we can confirm it's the descendants of Tian Long Sheng Zong, led by Xuan Huang's daughter, Nan Ming Yu Shu."

"The Phantasm Clan was suppressed by Xuan Huang back in the day—is Nan Ming Yu Shu cleaning up her father's mess?" Gu San Tong stroked his beard.

"Regardless, this is definitely good news." Zhong Jiang took a deep breath. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Maybe we can form an alliance with Nan Ming Yu Shu and the Tian Long Sheng Zong."

"Let's put that aside for now." Ye Chen pondered. "Our top priority is tonight's battle. Time is short; we need to speed up wiping out Zheng Yang and unifying Southern Chu."

"In that case, we'll move out immediately." The elders acted decisively and filed out of the hall.

"You stay and hold down Heng Yue." Before leaving, Ye Chen coughed and glanced at Hong Chen Xue.

"I don't need you to tell me." Hong Chen Xue glared at him fiercely, flicked her skirt, and vanished from the hall—perhaps still fuming about last night.

"I said it was a misunderstanding." Ye Chen shook his head and followed them out.
