"She is my mother," Qian Shang Yue said with a light smile, not avoiding Ye Chen's probing gaze at all.
"Direct descendant of Yue Huang." Even though he had some mental preparation, Ye Chen was still taken aback. He never expected the woman in front of him to have such an identity—she must be at least tens of thousands of years old!
However, his shock lasted only two or three seconds. Qian Shang Yue, like Da Chu Huang Yan, the daughter of Chu Huang, and Nan Ming Yu Shu, the daughter of Xuan Huang, had likely been sealed away long ago. In terms of true age, she was definitely no more than three hundred years old.
"What's with this world? Everyone seems to love playing with seals?" Ye Chen sighed inwardly. Why not just age normally in your own era? Instead, they seal themselves to come scare people in this time.
While Ye Chen was muttering to himself, Qian Shang Yue spoke up. "I invited you here today because I have a favor to ask."
"Senior, please go ahead. As long as I can do it, I won't hesitate," Ye Chen replied with a smile.
"Come with me to Shi Wan Da Shan."
"Shi Wan Da Shan?" Ye Chen's mouth twitched at the name. Ever since he escaped from there last time, he had sworn never to set foot in that cursed place again—it was terrifying.
Hearing the request now made him shudder involuntarily. Last time, after coming out, Nan Ming Yu Shu had gone completely mad. He didn't want Qian Shang Yue, the daughter of Yue Huang, to end up the same way.
"Senior, Shi Wan Da Shan isn't a good place at all. What are you going there for?" Ye Chen coughed dryly, his voice lacking confidence.
"To find my mother," Qian Shang Yue said, taking a deep breath.
"Yue Huang went into Shi Wan Da Shan?" Ye Chen looked at Qian Shang Yue in astonishment.
"After she sealed me away, she went to Shi Wan Da Shan. I only found out about it later," Qian Shang Yue said softly.
"Both Yue Huang and Xuan Huang went to Shi Wan Da Shan." Ye Chen's eyes darted around as he muttered to himself, "Why do all the emperors seem to love heading to Shi Wan Da Shan?"
In that moment, Ye Chen felt a strong urge to find Da Chu Huang Yan, the daughter of Chu Huang, and Zhou Tian Yi, the son of Dong Huang, and ask if Chu Huang and Dong Huang had also wandered into Shi Wan Da Shan back in the day.
Meanwhile, Qian Shang Yue remained calm and composed, watching Ye Chen and waiting for his response.
Seeing this, Ye Chen touched his nose and said,"Da Chu has so many people, and plenty of them are stronger than me. Why do you have to insist on me going?"
"Because you have the Liu Dao Xian Lun Yan, which can see things we can't," Qian Shang Yue replied gently.
"Senior, honestly, I wouldn't go back to that hellish place even if you killed me," Ye Chen coughed dryly. "Last time, I barely made it out alive, and Nan Ming Yu Shu ended up going mad. I don't want to go in with you and have you come out the same way, all crazy and disoriented."
"No matter the outcome, it won't be your fault," Qian Shang Yue said, bowing and cupping her hands toward Ye Chen.
"Senior, you're showing me such respect—it's going to shorten my life!" Ye Chen quickly stepped forward.
"I hope you will grant the request of the Qian Shang clan. Guang Han Gong will be eternally grateful," Qian Shang Yue said, her words pleasant but her tone carrying a hint of plea, as she did not rise despite Ye Chen's attempt to help her up.
Faced with Qian Shang Yue's gesture, Ye Chen found himself in a difficult position. Given her status and seniority, this was clearly pressuring him into agreeing.
Helplessly, he nodded. "I'll do it."
"Thank you," Qian Shang Yue finally smiled.
"But I have one condition," Ye Chen said, touching his nose.
"Feel free to say it."
"I wonder if Guang Han Gong could form an alliance with us," Ye Chen said with a dry laugh, knowing the request was a bit improper, even verging on blackmail, which made him hesitate.
However, for the future of Yan Huang Heng Yue Dan City and the various families, he decided to throw aside his shame.
"Of course," Qian Shang Yue replied with a light smile. "But in the short term, we probably won't be able to help you much, as most of us in Guang Han Gong are still sealed."
"That's fine," Ye Chen grinned. "As long as you agree, time isn't an issue. As for the Shi Wan Da Shan matter, I'll keep it in mind. Once I get back and deal with Zheng Yang Zong, I'll go with you."
"In that case, thank you."
"It's a win-win!" Ye Chen chuckled, then waved and hurried out.
Watching Ye Chen's retreating figure, Qian Shang Yue gazed thoughtfully, her eyes growing misty as she murmured to herself, "Xuan Feng, you two are so alike."
Meanwhile, Ye Chen dashed out of Dan City, soaring like a divine rainbow toward Heng Yue Zong.
"This trip was quite the haul," he said with a chuckle while flying. "The sect master and the others probably never imagined I'd bring in so many allies!"
"Brat, I've been waiting so long my flowers have wilted," Tai Xu Gu Long's bored voice soon echoed in Ye Chen's divine sea. "Don't drag this out. Once you're back, head straight to Zheng Yang Zong."
"I'm on my way back, aren't I?" Ye Chen retorted with a pout. "We've waited this long; a day or two more won't hurt."
"I can't wait any longer."
"Don't worry, it'll be soon. Oh, right— in a few days, I have to go to Shi Wan Da Shan with Yue Huang's daughter. Do you want to come along and check it out?"
"Go? Of course! I've been itching to," Tai Xu Gu Long perked up. "I've been planning to head there first after getting out, to see if it's as creepy as you say. Wait a minute—Yue Huang's daughter?"
"It's pretty weird, right?" Ye Chen sighed. "Just like Nan Ming Yu Shu, she's going to Shi Wan Da Shan to find her mother, Yue Huang."
"Yue Huang went to Shi Wan Da Shan too?"
"Looks that way," Ye Chen stroked his chin. "We know for sure Yue Huang and Xuan Huang went in, and both emperors vanished without a trace afterward. There must be many secrets in Shi Wan Da Shan."
"Then I definitely need to go," Tai Xu Gu Long said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "I love a good challenge."
"Hmmph!" Ye Chen said dismissively, thinking to himself that he hoped Tai Xu Gu Long wouldn't end up scared out of his wits.
Boom! Boom!
As they chatted, thunderous roars echoed from the distant mountains.
Hearing the noise, Ye Chen instinctively looked over. In the dim night, he saw two majestic mountains collapsing one after another, the entire area shrouded in sinister yin energy.
"What's going on?" Ye Chen furrowed his brow and stepped forward, covering over a hundred zhang as he flew toward the source.
From afar, he spotted two figures locked in battle.
One was a burly man, bare-chested with ancient runes etched on his exposed skin. He wielded a battle axe, his muscles coiling like dragons, and most strikingly, his eyes were pitch black.
"What in the world is that thing?" Ye Chen muttered, using "thing" because he couldn't tell what it was—it wasn't human, not a cultivator, had no blood, and emitted no aura of life. It was like a yin underworld general.
But it wasn't exactly that; it was something even more bizarre, existing somewhere between the living and the dead.
As he pondered, Ye Chen turned his gaze to the other figure.
There, he saw a graceful shadow wrapped in tri-colored divine radiance. She was dressed in blood-stained clothes, her form disheveled, with an ancient mark on her forehead. Her aura was chaotically unstable.
"Ji Ning Shuang?" Ye Chen froze on the spot in surprise.
