Chapter 3229

Chapter 3229: Unknown Creature Beyond the Universe

Beyond the universe lay the illusory void, desolate and pitch-black.

Ye Chen and Nü Di walked side by side, strolling and observing. As far as the eye could see, there was no end in sight.

They had left the universe behind, and he had no idea how far they had traveled.

In this void without any sense of time, based on the heavens' reckoning, at least five hundred years had passed. The two of them wandered and paused along the way, like tourists, or like a newlywed couple on their honeymoon. The scenery of the void was still quite wondrous—vast like the starry sky, though without stars and endlessly dark, it would occasionally reveal a faint light, tracing a brilliant arc through the desolation, like an eternal hue.

"It's rare to be alone, so what should we do?"

"If I really did that to you, no one would probably know."

"You think so, right?"

Ye Chen walked with his hands tucked in his sleeves. He had already reached the peak of Quasi-Huang Emperor and become the commander of all living beings, yet he still acted carefree. Ever since leaving the universe, he had spent most of his time teasing Nü Di—more precisely, teasing Chu Xuan and Chu Ling. But it wasn't really teasing; they were his wives, after all, and it had been a very, very long time since then.

Nü Di didn't respond and simply ignored him.

Even so, he kept chattering away shamelessly.

It wasn't until some time later that the two of them stopped.

If he hadn't miscalculated, Zhao Yun's universe had once been right here.

Now, only the void remained.

An entire universe had vanished without a trace—it was incredibly strange.

"Swallowed by the little one?" Nü Di murmured softly.

"Even if it was swallowed into the unknown, there should still be the universe's shell left," Ye Chen said calmly. He had seen the most original spacetime before; the heavens' universes had once turned into the unknown because of the Xing Zi Xiao Wa, and though there were no living beings or rules, the universe itself still existed. If not for the impact of the great explosion, the heavens' universes wouldn't have been destroyed.

Nü Di fell silent, closing her eyes to probe.

However, the void beyond the universe was too terrifying; even her divine sense was lost in it.

"Zhao Yun."

Ye Chen called out, using his divine sense to call.

To this day, he still didn't know if that guy was alive. Back then, a river of illusion had swept them away; he had been lucky enough to enter a vanished civilization, which was that small universe, now merged into the heavens' universe.

As for Zhao Yun, he didn't know if he had been as fortunate.

His call received no response. The boundless void had erased his divine sense. A downgraded Huang Emperor and a Quasi-Huang Emperor at full completion were, in the void outside the universe, essentially like the blind—they couldn't probe very far with their divine senses.

Only after a long while did the two of them leave.

If this was truly a journey, then these two travelers had no destination. They didn't know where to find the Xing Zi Xiao Wa, nor where to find the vanished universe.

Ye Chen stopped again and sat down cross-legged.

Then came the eternal melody, still as melodious and ancient as ever.

Watching Nü Di, he played the tune, and she began to dance.

But this time, he was the only audience. Her dance was still graceful, and paired with the mournful music, it added a touch of melancholy. Combined with Nü Di's stunning appearance, he was completely captivated. She was a Quasi-Huang Emperor and an eternal fairy.

This performance lasted a leisurely hundred years.

Of course, that was based on the heavens' time. A thousand years in the void was just a day in the heavens. For a long time, he and Nü Di had been calculating time this way.

After a hundred years, the music hadn't stopped.

Unfortunately, by the end of those hundred years, they still hadn't seen the Xing Zi Xiao Wa.

In the second hundred years, Ye Chen put away his qin.

Nü Di stopped playing as well, her blank consciousness fully returning.

Ye Chen handed her the plain qin. "Your turn."

Nü Di sat cross-legged, her slender fingers gently plucking the strings, and the qin music resumed. Her consciousness gradually turned blank with the melody, as if driven by some force, turning her into a puppet. Her beautiful eyes were empty, and her expression slightly wooden.

What could be said?

If no one interrupted, she could play until the end of time.

Ye Chen stroked his chin and paced around, both listener and observer.

This emperor had quite the wild idea.

With Nü Di's consciousness blank, if he fed her some special produce, would she react?

It was Dan Saint's creation— even a Quasi-Huang Emperor would kneel from it.

After thinking it over, he decided against it. With her consciousness blank, it would be pointless.

Still, he had to do something.

He took out a brush and drew a circle on each of Nü Di's cheeks, then added a cross on her forehead, calling it makeup. He had done this before and even given Chu Xuan the same treatment.

But he wasn't done yet.

Seizing this rare opportunity, the Tenth Emperor of Great Chu let his hands wander freely, treating Nü Di like a work of art, pinching here and touching there, going straight for the soft spots. It had to be said, the feel was quite nice, and his hands lingered with a faint fragrance.

Fortunately, Nü Di was unconscious.

Otherwise, they would definitely have fought, because he was just asking for a beating.

"What a waste of resources."

If the Emperor Dao F4 were here, they would surely say something like that. With her out of it, why bother touching? Why not just go for it? Was his kidney really that weak?

Hm?

While he was at it, Ye Chen suddenly stood up and casually interrupted Nü Di's playing.

He narrowed his eyes, staring into the depths of the darkness.

Just a moment ago, he seemed to have heard a roar, and now, faintly, he could smell a trace of blood, coming and going unpredictably.

"Someone's there." Nü Di had awakened and murmured softly.

Zheng!

Ye Chen manifested the Yong Heng Jian, gripping it in one hand as he charged into the depths of the darkness.

The woman followed, also holding the Yong Heng Jian.

During this time, she frowned more than once, feeling a strange discomfort in certain parts of her body, as if it was tingling or sore, like someone had grabbed her.

Thinking of this, she glanced sideways, her eyes flickering with flames.

If she was right, that guy had been up to no good during her unconscious period, especially with those hands—who knew how many times he had touched her, and not gently either.

"What the heck is that?"

Nü Di's gaze made the young master pretend not to notice, as he stared into the void's depths, acting like nothing was wrong to ease the awkward atmosphere.

"Face is a good thing."

Nü Di spoke up, glaring at him fiercely. She had truly underestimated his lack of principles.

Ye Chen glanced at her.

Then, he saw this guy trembling all over, probably trying not to laugh. No matter how he looked, her face was eye-catching—her peerless beauty was now marred by circles and crosses, all smudged black and messy, completely ruining her image.

What was funny was that Nü Di still didn't know.

"Stop."

Ye Chen suddenly halted, serious when he needed to be. By now, the bloody scent had grown thicker and was rushing toward them wave after wave. With their vision limited and divine sense restricted, they sensed a monster approaching.

Nü Di felt it too, narrowing her immortal eyes slightly.

Roar! Roar!

As they watched, the roars became clear. Just from the sound, they couldn't tell what kind of creature it was, but it definitely wasn't human—three parts like a Cang Lang, seven parts like a Xiong Shi.

"How unsettling."

Both Ye Chen and Nü Di frowned. The roars carried a magical power, and the waves of blood aura brought a terrifying pressure, even dimming much of the Yong Heng light.

Roar!

Accompanied by the roar, a creature gradually revealed itself. It wasn't human; calling it a monster was more accurate. It was two or three zhang tall, entirely red, with three heads and six arms. Each head had only one eye, a mouth but no nose, and it dragged a tail behind it that looked like a Long tail.

This form resembled an E Mo.

But this thing was far more frightening than an E Mo. Blood-red liquid dripped from its mouth, and its rolling eyes seemed stained with blood. Destruction omens manifested around it, and its low roars were like curses, eerily resistant even to Yong Heng.

"What is this?" Ye Chen muttered lightly.

Nü Di didn't speak; she couldn't tell its origin, only that it was very dangerous.

The universe was vast, and beyond it, even more so.

Encountering an unknown creature here didn't surprise them, since they knew so little.

Roar!

The unknown creature moved, opening its two bloody maws wide, forming vortices in its mouths—one unleashing thunder that tore through, the other surging with flames. Its extremely destructive devouring force scattered Ye Chen's Yong Heng and extinguished Nü Di's Yong Heng light.

Seal!

Ye Chen snorted coldly, summoning chaos to create all things with a single hand seal. Within it, mountains, rivers, and vegetation were all enveloped in Yong Heng light. Heavenly sounds echoed, and Dao principles flew about, trapping the unknown creature in an instant, forming an immortal seal.

Roar!

The unknown creature let out a low roar, ignoring the Yong Heng entirely. Black light burst from its body, shattering the immortal seal and sending Ye Chen stumbling back.

Forbidden!

Nü Di lightly shouted, forming a seal with one hand. Strands of Yong Heng order chains materialized out of thin air, clanking as they bound the creature's three heads and six arms. More rules were imprinted afterward, one by one, etching into its body.

Roar!

The unknown creature exuded dominance, not only bursting with black light but also covering itself in scales. A fearsome pressure erupted, shattering Nü Di's order chains and erasing the rule imprints, forcing her to retreat in defeat.

Zheng!

Ye Chen swung a Yong Heng sword strike, severing one of the creature's heads.

Nü Di's sword followed suit, and the second head rolled off.

Roar!

Losing two heads enraged the unknown creature. Black light shot from its body, and in the same instant, the severed heads regrew. The fallen heads turned to ash as they dropped.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

What followed was the sound of metal clashing. The black light from the creature's body attacked indiscriminately, targeting Ye Chen and locking onto Nü Di. Both wielded their Yong Heng swords, slashing them down one by one, sparking fires.

Roar!

The unknown creature was terrifying, and the black light from its body was no ordinary force. Every time Ye Chen and Nü Di blocked one, they were pushed back a step. Occasionally hit, destructive killing intent rampaged through their bodies, and the wounds from the black light were hard to heal even with Yong Heng or blood succession.

This was just the appetizer.

Even worse was yet to come. The unknown creature spat out a sea of blood. As soon as Ye Chen and Nü Di steadied themselves, they were swept away, unable to keep their footing.

"What a horrific blood sea."

Ye Chen frowned. The blood sea had an extremely strong devouring force, corroding even his Yong Heng armor and reverting his blood succession limit. He was certain that just a trace of this blood aura could crush a Tian Di, and a wisp could collapse the Taigu Honghuang.

"Is it a Huang Emperor?"

Nü Di furrowed her brows slightly. It ignored the Yong Heng seal and order rules, and those strands of black light grew stronger with each one. Their Yong Heng seemed like mere decoration; blocking one only pushed them back a step.

"Most likely," Ye Chen pondered.

If that was true, they couldn't win. In the heavens' universe, he could fight a Huang Emperor head-on, but outside the universe, his Huang Gu Sheng Ti privileges were basically gone. Certain divine powers only worked in their home universe.
