Chapter 3149: Dream Within a Dream

Boom! Rumble!

The God Realm was in an uproar, all because of Ye Chen. The booming sounds echoed across the eight wastelands, shaking the entire universe.

Looking out, the scene was quite a sight: Ye Chen dragged his bloodied body, fleeing for his life. Behind him, numerous gods pursued relentlessly, each one exuding overwhelming power as they chased and attacked. Further back came a massive crowd of spectators, all gods, packed together like a dark cloud.

Spurt! Spurt! Spurt!

Golden blood sprayed everywhere, each drop dazzlingly bright. Ye Chen had been beaten to a pulp; there were too many enemies, and most of his escape techniques were countered. Whenever he was caught, it turned into a full-on brawl. As the supreme figure of the Sacred Body lineage, he was now completely disoriented from the hammering.

“Truly tough.”

Not just the spectators, even the gods in pursuit couldn’t hide their shock. They had underestimated Ye Chen; after being beaten all this way, he was still lively and kicking.

“On par with God Zhao Yun.”

Many gods clicked their tongues, reminded of Zhao Yun, who was both a fighter and resilient. He had once caused a massive stir in the God Realm, nothing less than what was happening now.

“Zhao Yun, you bastard.”

Fleeing, Ye Chen didn’t hold back his words, cursing nonstop as he escaped. He had entered their territory and taken so many hits—was this fair?

Ah-choo!

Zhao Yun, suppressed in the God Ruins, had his eyes closed when a sneeze hit him out of nowhere.

I feel like someone’s cursing me.

Zhao Yun muttered to himself. Lately, he’d been sneezing frequently, and it was getting worse. He figured some guy was greeting him regularly, and with quite the temper.

Putting that aside, he glanced at Wuwang Mozun, who stood in the void, gazing into the distant emptiness.

What are you looking at?

Zhao Yun looked up too, following his line of sight. But sealed and suppressed, he was as blind as could be; whatever Wuwang Mozun could see, he couldn’t.

“Useless, a bunch of useless fools.”

Wuwang Mozun snorted coldly, grinding his teeth. It was as if he could peer through the endless cosmos and witness Ye Chen’s pursuit. So many supremes, yet they couldn’t take down someone who had regressed to an infant state.

Who knows, if the supremes heard him say that, they might turn around and head to the God Ruins for a good chat about life.

If you’re so capable, you do it!

I won’t; I’m busy.

Wuwang Mozun’s attitude said it all. He was indeed occupied, busy refining Zhao Yun. The Wudun Jia Tianzi could be refined too; it just took more time, and he had plenty of that.

“A fair fight, if you’ve got the guts!”

From one side of the starry sky, a loud scolding rang out.

It was the Chaos Cauldron.

In such a grand scene, the Chaos Fire and Chaos Thunder were naturally present, jumping around in their small realm.

Indeed, their boss was handling the beating while they handled the yelling, howling like mad.

“Good stuff.”

Yueshen was watching too, her beautiful eyes deep and insightful. She quite admired the trio of the Chaos Cauldron; their temperaments matched her master’s perfectly.

“This is a nest of immortals!”

The old man Xuan Yang sighed, his heart racing at the sight.

“The lineup is overwhelmingly large.”

Shen Yunsuan was parched, finally understanding why even someone as strong as Zhao Yun had been suppressed; why Yueshen had been forced to fall from her divine position earlier; why Xiuluo Tianzun had fled to the remote borders. With so many supremes, no one could stand against them—except, perhaps, the highest gods, who might be gathered elsewhere, just watching the show.

And they were indeed watching.

If not for the agreement forbidding interference, they would have captured Ye Chen and taken him back for a thorough study. The young man was exceptionally talented.

“What hidden dragons!”

Long Yang, whom Yueshen had saved earlier, murmured in a daze. He had thought Zhao Yun was terrifying enough, but now there was another on the same level.

“You won’t escape.”

From outside, shouts rose one after another.

They had blockades ahead and pursuers behind, all supremes, incredibly powerful. The entire starry sky was in chaos, as if they wouldn’t stop until Ye Chen was dead. The Dao Demons and God Demons were especially furious, their red eyes shooting flames.

Spurt! Spurt! Spurt!

Ye Chen’s escape was grueling; he kept spitting blood. The obvious threats were bad enough—at least he could see them—but the hidden ones were truly nauseating. It was easy to dodge an open attack but hard to guard against a hidden one; one slip, and he was ambushed.

Fortunately, someone was secretly helping him.

It was the Donghuang Nüdi, whose mastery of the Dream Dao was profound and mystical. Besides her, gods from her own ranks, some incredibly powerful, were also resolving crises for him one after another.

No one knew when the booms faded.

The supremes stopped; it wasn’t that they didn’t want to chase, but Ye Chen had vanished. They were pursuing him one moment, and the next, he was gone.

“Can you find him?”

Many gods turned to the Wuxiang Old God.

The Wuxiang Old God said nothing, already summoning a black hole to peer into the vast cosmos with his formless and invisible powers.

Strangely, he found nothing.

It was no surprise he couldn’t find them; Ye Chen had entered a dream, specifically Yao Chi’s dream, and Yao Chi had entered his.

This was an incredibly mysterious technique, requiring two practitioners of the Dream Dao to enter each other’s dreams.

In simple terms, it was a dream within a dream.

This made it extremely hard to trace them. Throughout the chase, Ye Chen and Ji Ningshuang had been trying it constantly. Due to the imbalance in their Dream Dao mastery, it was difficult to achieve balance, but they had finally succeeded.

It had to be said, this technique was truly profound; even the Wuxiang Old God couldn’t detect a single clue.

“Dammit.”

After searching in vain, the gods collectively cursed, their faces burning with embarrassment. So many supremes chasing one person, only for him to escape—it was humiliating.

The figures gradually dispersed.

Whether pursuers or spectators, they all went their separate ways. The former were fuming, the latter sighing in amazement. He had really gotten away.

The pursuit finally ended.

The vast starry sky returned to calm. Due to the gathering of supremes and this chase, it was like an apocalyptic catastrophe; countless ancient stars had been destroyed.

Spurt!

In Ji Ningshuang’s dream, Ye Chen vomited blood and pulled a black war spear from his chest. His condition was beyond miserable: only half his head remained, his body covered in bloody gashes, bones exposed in many places, and even half his Sacred Body spine broken. The hole in his chest was the most horrific; it still flickered with eerie light, eroding his vital energy. Not only was the wound not healing, it was spreading outward, and the golden Sacred Blood flowing from it had turned pitch black.

“Ye Chen.”

Yao Chi hurried over, offering her Emperor Dao origin.

“I’m fine.”

Ye Chen sat cross-legged, smiling and waving it off. As long as he was alive, and with eternity supporting him, it wasn’t a big issue.

“Where did you go?”

Ye Chen smiled, using eternal immortal light to envelop his entire Sacred Body, dispelling the killing intent within.

“A unknown universe.”

Yao Chi gave a light, soft smile. Thinking back, she still felt a lingering fear. When the universe passage collapsed that day, she had nearly perished, but fate spared her, and she ended up in another universe. It took her a long time of trial to dream her way back.

Ye Chen sighed. His little Jiu was truly full of experiences. Across all the heavens, she was probably the only one who had stayed in three universes.

Even the female emperor couldn’t compare.

After sighing, he felt even more afraid. Though Yao Chi spoke briefly, he knew it must have been full of hardships. In the depths of her origin soul, he had found scars. Someone as strong as her, a quasi-wild emperor, couldn’t heal them; it had to be a terrifying Dao wound.

Speaking of quasi-wild, he sighed again. He had really underestimated Ji Ningshuang. How long had it been? She had already broken through to quasi-wild.

But thinking about it, he understood. Looking at Ji Ningshuang’s age marks, she had gained more than thirty thousand years since they separated, likely from enlightenment in dreams. And in that unknown realm, she must have encountered some heaven-defying opportunity.

None of that mattered now.

What mattered was that he was still here, and so was Yao Chi. They had come together, and they would return together.

“Are those two a couple?”

Ruoshui murmured softly, her expression a bit odd. When Ye Chen had asked her before, that “master’s wife” response had been so straightforward.

“Now, they’re quite the pair.”

Many supremes from their own ranks said this, some in Yao Chi’s small realm, some in Ye Chen’s. Seeing these two fierce individuals, they sighed endlessly. Perhaps only such astonishing gods could be worthy of each other.

“I remember when she came last time, she was just a small cultivator. Now, she’s this terrifying.”

Many supremes clicked their tongues in disbelief. They had seen Ji Ningshuang when she first entered this universe; it had only been a few thousand years.

“Any news on the Emperor Immortal?”

Yueshen asked softly, inquiring about Kuang Yingjie, while using her origin laws to heal him.

“It’s like he vanished from the world.”

Xiuluo Tianzun gently shook his head.

Yueshen frowned, and Ruoshui did the same. They both had a strong sense of foreboding.

It took three full days for Ye Chen to recover.

Ji Ningshuang hadn’t woken yet; she sat cross-legged, the scars in her origin soul acting up again, making her face pale and blood constantly spilling from her mouth.

“Taboo.”

Ye Chen narrowed his eyes slightly, knowing the cause. When the passage collapsed that day, his whole body had been bound; Ji Ningshuang couldn’t have escaped it.

He remembered she had been struck by a divine light.

The difference was, he had been bound, while Yao Chi had been wounded in her origin soul.

Now, it seemed that mysterious force involved the universes, or perhaps transcended them.

To this day, he still didn’t know how to define what lay beyond the universes—was it black holes, illusions, or just empty void?

So, the world was full of unknowns, and he needed to explore them step by step, an endless path.

Without overthinking, he summoned eternal light, wrapping it around Yao Chi’s origin soul to cover the scar. Using eternity as a needle and laws as thread, he helped heal her wound.

The process wasn’t long.

In less than half an hour, the scar was healed. With the Dao wound gone, Ji Ningshuang’s face regained some color.

The two emerged from the dream together.

When they reappeared, they were in a mountain range. Ji Ningshuang stood gracefully, while Ye Chen stretched lazily.

“What a beast!”

Xiuluo Tianzun emerged from the small realm, grinning and clicking his tongue. The other supremes felt the same.

Beaten that badly, and he’s fine just like that?

But seeing the eternity on Ye Chen, they understood. Eternity’s immortality wasn’t a joke.

“This is my wife.”

Ye Chen hovered in the air, standing shoulder to shoulder with Yao Chi, his back straight and presence striking, as if showing off: My people are all amazing.

“We can see that.”

The supremes stroked their chins or beards, their eyes conveying the same thought: You two don’t quite match, or rather, you, little thing, don’t quite measure up. If you got into bed, what could you even do?
