"Run? Where do you think you're running to?"
On the dim Tai Gu Lu, the rumbling sounds continued, but the shouts and cries were even louder. Another massive battle was raging, an emperor-level one at that. Looking up at the sky, lightning flashed and thunder roared. The seven supreme emperors of Zhu Tian were playfully pursuing the supreme beings from the Wan Yu. They handled the chase, while the Zhu Tian divine generals took charge of the taunting.
Looking at the fleeing supreme beings from the outer domains, their situation was truly agonizing. Over a dozen emperors had arrived, including one at the peak realm, only to run into a group of madmen. These madmen weren't just incredibly strong; they also had short tempers. As a result, these majestic emperor-level supreme beings were now pathetic fugitives, brought to their knees in an instant. There was no hope of winning this fight; just the two emperor-level sacred bodies on the other side were enough to wipe them all out.
Scenes like this happened on the Tai Gu Lu every few days. Lately, Di Huang and the others had been extremely busy. Whenever a supreme being from the outer domains appeared, they were immediately attacked. They had essentially turned the Tai Gu Lu into Zhu Tian's territory, annihilating anyone who dared to cause trouble.
The battle came quickly and ended even faster. All dozen or so outer domain emperors were blasted into dust amidst their howls, without exception. Upon returning, their first glance was still toward the Nu Di.
Calculating the time, it had been three months since the self-destruction of the burial of the sun, and she still hadn't successfully merged. No one dared to disturb her; they just waited in silence. There was no other way—only the Tian Ting Nu Di could continue the Tai Gu Lu, while the rest of them were merely bystanders.
Hong Yan had gone to the end of the Tai Gu Lu again, standing there for three full days. Di Huang followed quietly, hiding in the void to prevent this young woman from suddenly leaping into the illusory realm.
At one point, Hong Yan had indeed thought of doing so. However, she was much calmer now. She would live on, live for Ye Chen, and follow the Tian Ting Nu Di all the way to the Tai Gu Hong Huang. Once all missions were complete, she would leap in without hesitation.
She was one of the most devoted women in the world. Back then, she had stood too high, untouched by mortal concerns, and it was precisely because of that pride that she was easily moved. Once the seed of affection was planted, it bloomed and bore fruit, lasting until the end of time.
Boom! Rumble!
The long period of quiet was finally shattered by the booming sounds. Dark clouds gathered once more, with lightning and thunder filling the sky. Di Huang fell silent for a moment, glancing back briefly. In his line of sight, two majestic figures stepped into the vast void, one after the other.
They were the son of the realm, Xi Chen, and the fourth divine general, Bei Lin. Indeed, both of them were reaching a historic moment, about to prove their dao and become emperors today.
"Honestly, before these two, I would have favored Di Xuan more."
Long Ye stroked his beard, sighing deeply. He truly hadn't expected these two to take the first step.
"People have strengths and weaknesses, but the dao has no precedence."
Ren Wang chuckled, glancing at Di Xuan, who was sitting cross-legged with her eyes closed. In terms of combat power, Xi Chen and the fourth divine general might not surpass Di Xuan, but these two had unexpectedly triggered the emperor tribulation before her.
"Is there anyone else? Let's all go up together!"
Zao Hua Shen Wang said with his hands clasped behind his back, scanning the crowd and looking at Sheng Huang, Yu Hua Xian Wang, and the others. Unfortunately, no one responded.
Earlier, when the Tian Mo invaded, many had suffered damage to their opportunities, and not everyone was so fortunate. Thus, in this era of emperor-level changes, anything was possible. Many at the peak of supreme strength remained silent; they could prove the dao, it was just a matter of time.
Boom! Rumble!
Under the watchful eyes of everyone, billions of thunderbolts converged into a sea of lightning, shrouding two regions of the heavens. Fight! Xi Chen and the fourth divine general shouted resonantly, both incredibly dominant. They withstood the thunder and charged heavenward, sacrificing their remaining lifespan with no possibility of retreat—they would either perish or become emperors.
Amidst the rumbling, the emperor-level thunder grew even more ferocious. The heavens buzzed, the entire Tai Gu Lu shook, and it even affected the Zhu Tian.
"Are all those proving the dao these days doing it in pairs?"
Ming Di looked up thoughtfully, and Dao Zu wore a similar expression. Reflecting on their own times, becoming an emperor had been incredibly difficult, with only one person per era able to achieve it. But this era was truly peculiar, starting from the Dong Huang Nu Di, Zhu Tian had already produced several emperors.
"Bringing a million divine generals here was indeed a wise decision."
Ming Di said earnestly. Those whose lifespan was nearing its end had no choice but to gamble on the Tai Gu Lu. Compared to him, Dao Zu was still deeply worried. Counting the numbers, several had already become emperors, yet the Nu Di's condition remained poor. Without her to hold the fort, even if Zhu Tian produced more emperors, it wouldn't be enough to reach the Tai Gu Hong Huang.
"Jiu Niang, I miss Dad."
At the peak where the Nu Di stood, Ye Ling murmured softly, holding a wooden comb and gently combing the hair of the Dong Huang Nu Di.
"He'll come back."
Yao Chi smiled wearily, blood trickling from the corners of her mouth. Her hair was snow-white, and her ultimate dao battle armor was stained with blood. She had fought countless battles, leaving her utterly exhausted. Whenever this happened, Ye Ling would secretly channel strands of light into her body.
In truth, Ye Ling was also an emperor's daughter, and not just any—her father was the supreme of the Sheng Ti lineage, and her mother was a remnant Tian Ting Nu Di. She had inherited a certain power from them. That power possessed a divine ability to seize heaven and create fortune.
Yao Chi smiled gently and returned those strands of light to Ye Ling's body. It was true that she had such divine power, but it came at a cost. After all, Ye Ling wasn't an emperor. These years, Yao Chi had fought tirelessly, and this young girl had done the same, serving as a main force against the outer domain's Mo Jun.
This night stretched on endlessly, shrouded in a desolate chill. On the Tai Gu Lu, the ultimate thunder tribulation had already dissipated, but the two emperor tribulations were still ongoing. Emperor dao law bodies manifested appropriately in the two voids.
The first law body to appear drew a chorus of sighs—it was Ye Chen's emperor dao law body. As Ren Wang had said, no matter whose tribulation it was, that guy Ye Chen always showed up to join in.
"Honestly, I don't really want to see you in the emperor tribulation." The fourth divine general took a deep breath. It wasn't that he didn't want to see Ye Chen, but he dreaded seeing Ye Chen's law body. Having witnessed several tribulations, he knew all too well how terrifying Ye Chen's law body was—it was incredibly fierce.
"No matter whose tribulation it is, you always come to help out." Xi Chen couldn't help but chuckle dryly. The emperor among emperors truly lived up to the name; he was everywhere.
Achoo! In the void, Ye Chen, who was traversing the Yong Heng, suddenly sneezed. He felt like someone was cursing him, glanced around, and then continued onward, mustering his strength to reach the end of the Yong Heng.
Boom! Bang! Boom!
The emperor tribulation on the Tai Gu Lu resumed, its commotion no less than that of Jian Shen and Jian Zun. The scene was bloody and brutal. The onlookers could hardly bear to watch, as most of the time, the two tribulation crossers were fleeing through the sky. Even so, they were repeatedly beaten into cripples. Yet, Ye Chen's law body remained exceptionally outstanding, representing the heavens and playing an absolutely crucial role.
When the booms finally faded, only two primordial spirit flames drifted down from the sky. Thus, Zhu Tian gained two new emperors, both of whom had brushed past the gates of hell.
On this day, there was also joyous news. Accompanied by Yong Heng's immortal light soaring into the sky, the Nu Di successfully merged. Compared to before, this merger, which took several months, was remarkably swift. Splendid immortal radiance illuminated the universe, and dao sounds echoed through the heavens. At the corners of the Nu Di's eyes, there were still tears that hadn't dried. She said nothing, gently waving her hand to draw out faint remnants of souls from the previous battlefield—these were from the fallen divine generals. Some still held hope for revival, though their numbers were few. Afterward, she headed to the end of the Tai Gu Lu and stepped into the void of illusions.
She was gone for nine days. The Zhu Tian divine generals and the various emperors waited at the end for nine days, hoping the Nu Di would retrieve Ye Chen's corpse. Sadly, they were destined for disappointment. On the tenth day, the Nu Di returned empty-handed. As an incomplete Nu Di, she couldn't venture too far, or she might get lost in the illusions. With her mission at hand, she couldn't afford to act recklessly.
In those ten days, Xi Chen and Bei Lin had also remolded their emperor bodies. The Nu Di gave the two new emperors no time to refine their dao; like an ice sculpture, she stood at the end of the Tai Gu Lu, perhaps in repentance, repenting to Ye Chen. The successive generations of Zhu Tian's great emperors could hold on no longer; there was no time left to search for him. Faced with an ancient mission and lingering regret, a choice had to be made.
In the end, she raised her hand and formed seals. Now, with no Ye Chen, only she occupied the main position. Behind her, to the left and right, stood Di Huang and Hong Yan, while Xing Tian and Hou Yi served as reserves. As for the others, they were ready as backups. Now, they were truly strong and well-equipped—with the Nu Di at the forefront and nine emperors behind, prepared at all times.
Buzz!
After several months, the fractured Tai Gu Lu began extending once more.
"Ye Chen, we have left."
Too many people smiled through their tears, reluctantly withdrawing their gazes from the illusions, bidding a farewell.
"Who's calling?"
Ye Chen, traversing the Yong Heng, suddenly stopped and opened his eyes, looking up at the void. Alas, all he saw was vast emptiness. Only after a long while did he slowly lower his gaze, pausing for two or three seconds before continuing to swallow the Yong Heng.
Only a few days had passed in the outside world, but perhaps a century had gone by in the void. Yet, he still hadn't reached the end. This immortal river of Yong Heng seemed to have no termination, stretching endlessly without an end in sight. As he walked, his understanding of Yong Heng deepened further. From behind, his figure appeared desolate and solitary, yet it left an eternal, indestructible imprint.
"I say, whose child is this?"
In the Tai Gu Hong Huang, Gui Di raised his eyebrows high, scrutinizing Ye Chen up and down. Not just him—all the successive Zhu Tian supreme beings present were watching. They could all see Ye Chen, watching as he walked past them lightly. However, Ye Chen couldn't see them. Deep in his comprehension of the Yong Heng, he was unaware of the supreme beings observing him.
"A Tian Di-level Sheng Ti?" Tai Xu Long Di tilted his head, glancing at Yan Di on his left and Xuan Yuan Di on his right.
"A promising successor." Xuan Yuan Di murmured softly. The later generations of Zhu Tian were more astonishing than imagined, like this one walking before them, who had pioneered the immortal river where Sheng Ti couldn't prove the dao. He must be the supreme of the Huang Gu Sheng Ti lineage.
"A promising successor." The other successive supreme beings felt both gratified and shocked, utterly impressed.
"Why not take the Tai Gu Lu and go somewhere else instead?" Xuan Di rubbed his brow. The void wasn't a good place; entering it didn't guarantee escape.
"More than that, I want to know when the reinforcements will arrive." Sheng Yuan Huang said listlessly, his once radiant golden fur now turned snow-white.
