Chapter 2708: Entering Chaos (Three)

Crunch! Crunch!

In the mountain crevice, these sounds echoed with a steady rhythm.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Ye Chen, holding a handful of candy-like… well, Dan Yao, munching away enthusiastically. As the Dan Saint of Great Chu, he had an endless supply of these pills.

He had taken quite a beating earlier and needed to heal.

As for the Xuan Di shadow, it was still watching him intently, scrutinizing Ye Chen from head to toe, with particular interest in his little brother. If that guy Mu Zijin kicked him there, it would probably feel incredibly painful—the kind of agonizing scream that would be quite satisfying to hear.

"Stop staring. Give me the Shen Bing."

The Xuan Di shadow looked annoyed and casually waved its hand, sending a black robe flying out to hover in front of Ye Chen.

"This is... a Shen Bing?" Ye Chen raised an eyebrow, picking up the black robe and examining it up and down.

"This is the Seclusion Immortal Robe. Wear it, and the evil spirits won't attack you. Plus, outsiders won't be able to see you, but only within Buzhou Shan."

"Why didn't you bring out something this good earlier?"

"Get lost." The Xuan Di shadow shoved Ye Chen and even kicked him for good measure.

Ye Chen didn't mind at all. He had already put on the black robe and could feel its wonders—it was infused with evil thoughts and resentment, making it indistinguishable from the evil spirits, along with a mysterious power that concealed his true form and aura.

"Not bad."

Ye Chen grinned, popping Dan Yao into his mouth as he stepped out of the mountain crevice, striding confidently.

He headed first to a dangerous area infested with evil spirits. Just as the Xuan Di shadow had said, the evil spirits didn't attack him—in fact, they seemed to see him as one of their own. Though, the way they looked at him was a bit odd, probably because he appeared too normal.

He stopped in front of a blood pool, where an immortal was digging away, seemingly searching for something—maybe he had found a treasure.

Ye Chen stepped up and kicked him without a second thought.

"Who the hell kicked me?" The immortal scrambled to his feet and scanned around frantically. Ye Chen was right in front of him, but he couldn't see a thing.

Ye Chen laughed, thoroughly enjoying himself. Since the evil spirits wouldn't attack him and outsiders couldn't see him, he was going to have some real fun.

"Anyone who kills Ye Chen will be crowned king on the spot."

Such roars still echoed through Buzhou Shan, coming from all directions. A large number of Xian Jun and Xian Zun had entered and were conducting a thorough search.

Meanwhile, outside the mountain, the Heavenly Court army was on high alert, ready to strike the moment Ye Chen emerged.

Even so, Yin Ming wasn't satisfied and continued mobilizing more troops, determined not to stop until Ye Chen was dead.

Tsk, tsk, tsk!

Shura Tian Zun clicked his tongue again, surveying the vast sea of figures that stretched as far as the eye could see. With such a massive army blocking the way, not even a fly could escape.

If Buzhou Shan was a forbidden ground, then outside it was a death trap—enter and you won't come out alive.

"I say, maybe we should just leave," Tai Yi coughed from inside the bronze furnace, stunned by the Heavenly Court's forces. If their cover was blown, they'd die in the most miserable way.

"Agreed." Si Ming and Tai Bai also chuckled nervously. They should take advantage of the Heavenly Court army being gathered here and slip away to the lower realms. This upper realm was just too terrifying.

Shura Tian Zun ignored them, confident in his concealment techniques. They had been here for so long without anyone recognizing them, which was proof enough. The most dangerous place was often the safest, and besides, Ye Chen was still inside.

Speaking of Ye Chen, he had already found a cliffside and was standing there steadily, overlooking the area below.

From his vantage point, he could clearly see figures holding divine mirrors, searching methodically. Not a single Quasi Emperor at the eighth level could be found—every one pulled out was at the peak of Quasi Emperor.

That wasn't the main issue; it was the sheer numbers. Batch after batch kept entering, totaling several hundred thousand, not counting those outside.

There was no way around it—the Heavenly Court's ruler thought highly of him. If this weren't Buzhou Shan, those millions of troops outside would have charged in long ago.

Boom! Bang! Boom!

Buzhou Shan remained chaotic, with constant explosions and screams.

This was a forbidden ground full of pitfalls; one wrong step could lead into a dangerous area, or you might trigger some terrifying prohibition.

Such incidents were all too common, and even Ye Chen couldn't help but sigh at the sight. Some of those Xian Jun clearly weren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

Ye Chen shifted his gaze from below and glanced back, spotting someone who had arrived at the cliff—a man holding an immortal sword that gleamed coldly, clad in heavy armor that made his movements cumbersome.

Upon closer look, it was indeed Zi Yang Xian Jun. He had been yelling too loudly earlier and got kicked in by Yin Ming, now trembling with fear.

As Zi Yang Xian Jun approached and stood at the cliff's edge, peering down,

a chill suddenly ran down his spine. Before he knew it, his head went flying off. Even as it fell, his eyes were wide open, and he could see his headless body standing there.

The attacker was, of course, Ye Chen, who swiftly decapitated Zi Yang Xian Jun and destroyed his physical form in an instant.

Poor Zi Yang Xian Jun died without ever figuring out what happened, let alone who killed him—it was a death full of frustration.

"Who?"

Shouts erupted as the Heavenly Court experts searching nearby rushed over. A Xian Jun had died in such a bizarre way, and no one had seen the assailant.

Ye Chen sneered and vanished like a ghost, descending to the cliff below and targeting another Xian Jun with a single sword strike, sending another head rolling.

"Who?"

The Heavenly Court experts shuddered, still unable to see anyone, yet another living Xian Jun lay dismembered, his Yuan Shen extinguished.

Not far away, a Xian Zun arrived, activating his immortal eyes and narrowing them to scan the surroundings. A Xian Jun's death wasn't the problem; the issue was who killed him—there weren't even any evil spirits around!

But even with his immortal eyes, he found no clues.

"Impressive."

Ye Chen's laugh was laced with mockery as he glanced at the black robe he wore—it grew more delightful the more he looked at it. Too bad it only worked inside Buzhou Shan. If it worked outside, he'd drag Yin Ming away and torture him to death.

In his eyes, the Heavenly Court experts now seemed to glow brilliantly, like walking treasures. With the Seclusion Immortal Robe on his side, not only could he kill them, but he could also rob them blind—they were all mobile vaults.

True to his thoughts, he struck at once. A Xian Jun nearby, holding a divine blade in one hand and a divine mirror in the other, was on high alert, scanning the area.

Ye Chen moved in a flash, using a finger infused with prohibitions to seal the Xian Jun, then reached into his inner world, sweeping away all his treasures and destroying his Yuan Shen in one smooth motion. The whole sequence was seamless.

"Who?"

The third Xian Jun fell, and the Heavenly Court experts searching nearby, including the Xian Zun, looked grim. Was there a ghost? Even a ghost should show itself for a moment!

But nothing happened. The three Xian Jun had all died in an instant, without any warning, and the surroundings remained completely unchanged.

In that moment, the Heavenly Court experts here turned pale, gripping their weapons tightly as they spun in place, eyes fixed on every direction, fearing they might be next.

An invisible threat was the most terrifying.

Death wasn't the worst; waiting for it was the torment. No one knew who would die next—it could be the Xian Jun beside them or themselves.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Before their eyes, one Xian Jun after another fell—some with their Yuan Shen destroyed, some beheaded, some with their foreheads pierced....

In just over a dozen breaths, more than a dozen Xian Jun lay in pools of blood, each dying horribly without even a scream. The crimson blood stained the entire area.

"Ghosts!"

Whether from terror or something else, the surviving Xian Jun turned and fled, their cry of "Ghosts!" making Ye Chen want to laugh. They were immortals, lofty Xian Jun, yet they were afraid of ghosts?

Not just the Xian Jun—even the Xian Zun was scared, retreating like a startled bird.

This place was too eerie, as if inhabited by a Grim Reaper, an invisible one wielding a scythe to harvest lives.
