It was another starry night.
Ye Chen stopped searching for reincarnations and began heading back. The half-month limit was down to just three days, and the Tian Jie barrier could dissipate at any moment. He needed to return early to make preparations and use the borrowing method to go back to his homeland.
As he passed through a mountain range, he slipped inside like a wisp of smoke.
Soon after, three shadowy figures followed him in. They had been trailing Ye Chen the entire time, still agents of Zi Yang Xian Jun, sticking to him wherever he went.
Boom! Bang! Boom!
The mountains rumbled with explosions, and entire ranges collapsed.
When Ye Chen emerged again, no one was following him. The three or five Zhun Di had all been eliminated without exception, and he had also looted quite a few treasures.
He was quite pleased about it, but on Zi Yang Xian Jun's side, his face darkened with anger. Without realizing it, he had lost another three or five key subordinates, all of them Zhun Di!
This wasn't entirely his fault; blame it on those three or five Zhun Di. Their orders were just to follow Ye Chen, but they had overstepped and tried to take him out. They had underestimated that Da Sheng and ended up collectively on the road to the underworld.
Under the moonlight, Bi Xia Xian Zi held a secret scroll, her expression full of astonishment as she read it. The scroll contained information all about Ye Chen. She had thought it would be more complicated, but it turned out to be simpler than she imagined.
"Just these?"
"There's nothing else." A voice came from the darkness. They would have liked to gather more, but that was all the information on Ye Chen they could find. Or rather, some things were impossible to investigate, like that night when he slaughtered the crowd of Zhun Di.
Bi Xia Xian Zi said nothing and simply waved her hand lightly.
The figure in black clothes bowed and slowly melted back into the darkness. A few breaths later, he reappeared. "Xian Zi, I forgot to mention one thing—your disciple has gone to the Tian Lao."
"What's she doing at the Tian Lao?"
"I don't know."
Boom!
No sooner had Bi Xia Xian Zi spoken than a loud rumble echoed from the direction of the Tian Lao.
When they checked the Tian Lao, they discovered the cause: the treasure tower suppressing Shura Tian Zun was shaking with a buzzing hum, and the rune chains locking it were rattling loudly. It was so intimidating that the Tian Bing and Tian Jiang couldn't even stand steady, their faces turning pale.
Inside the tower, Shura Tian Zun had risen to his feet, his divine body trembling as he stared blankly in one direction. He gazed at a woman under the moon, his dim eyes filling with tears.
And who was that woman if not the reincarnated Yue Xin?
She had come to the Tian Lao to visit the King of Hell. Ye Chen had already told her about it, and as fellow people from their homeland, how could she not visit? The past was the past; in this foreign land of Tian Jie, there were no enemies from their homeland, only kin.
However, she had barely entered the Tian Lao when she felt an overwhelming surge. Even with her Da Sheng cultivation, she couldn't stay steady. The aura overflowing from a certain divine tower made her face turn deathly pale, and the entire Tian Lao shook back and forth.
"Hurry, reinforce the seals!"
Shouts rang out as countless Tian Jiang soared through the sky, including many Xian Jun. They hovered in the air on all sides, continuously casting spells and adding layers of seals to the divine tower. Shura Tian Zun, suppressed inside, was forced down to his knees.
"All unrelated persons, exit the Tian Lao immediately. Violators will be executed!"
More shouts followed as even more people arrived, all without exception at the Zhun Di peak realm. They formed a dense crowd, and even Yu Di was alarmed, standing at the pinnacle of the Tian Gong and gazing remotely at the scene, his brows furrowed in confusion over the sudden disturbance.
"Xian Zi, please leave quickly."
The purple-haired Tian Jiang guarding the King of Hell's cell made a gesture of invitation. The commotion was too great now; no amount of bribes would work. Compared to treasures, their lives and status were more important, but they still had to fulfill their duties.
The reincarnated Yue Xin glanced back at the pavilion. She hadn't even gotten to see the King of Hell yet, and this chaos had erupted, so she had no choice but to retreat.
Seal!
Restrain!
The arriving Tian Bing and Tian Jiang cast spells in unison, adding countless seals and prohibitions to the divine tower.
Shura Tian Zun did not resist. His tear-filled eyes only watched Yue Xin as she gradually walked away.
His agitation stemmed from that Xian Zi, who looked exactly like the woman he loved most, like identical twin sisters. If Zhao Yun were in his place, he would likely react the same way.
But alas, she was not her—just someone who resembled her.
The reincarnated Yue Xin kept looking back every few steps, feeling as if a pair of eyes in the shadows was staring at her, though she didn't know who it was. She continued until she exited the Tian Lao.
Outside the Tian Lao, a massive formation was already in place. Tian Bing and Tian Jiang had lined up in ranks, sealing off the area completely. There was no way around it—anything involving Shura Tian Zun required utmost caution. He was too powerful; they couldn't afford any mistakes, or it would lead to mountains of corpses and rivers of blood.
Yue Xin made her way through the crowd and retreated to the outermost edge.
In a section of the void, Ye Chen stood quietly. He had heard the disturbance and detoured to check out the Tian Lao, but it was now under strict martial law. As a mere Xing Jun, he had no qualification to enter and was blocked outside.
"Holy Lord." Yue Xin approached through the air and bowed in respect.
"What happened in the Tian Lao?" Ye Chen asked, puzzled.
"The divine tower suppressing Shura Tian Zun suddenly started shaking with great force," Yue Xin replied softly, as if reporting. "All unrelated people were asked to leave, and I didn't get to see Senior King of Hell."
Ye Chen furrowed his brows slightly, easily imagining that Shura Tian Zun had been stimulated—and by something significant, or he wouldn't have reacted so intensely.
"What kind of stimulation could it be?"
Ye Chen murmured to himself, truly puzzled. In Tian Jie, where Shura Tian Zun had no family or connections, what could have triggered him? The commotion was far too large.
He had once tried to call out to him but received no response. Or rather, a domineering barrier enveloped the entire Tian Lao, blocking sound transmission. After this incident, the Tian Lao would likely remain in a sealed state for many days to come; without Yu Di's orders, no one could enter.
"What's going on with all this noise?"
"I heard Shura Tian Zun went berserk and tried to break the seals, but he's been suppressed again."
"That demon again?"
Quite a few Xian Jia had gathered to observe, though they didn't dare get too close. They stood on clusters of clouds at the periphery, whispering and pointing, their discussions rising like waves. Most wore expressions of resentment.
Bi Xia Xian Zi had also arrived, manifesting beside Ye Chen.
Yue Xin saw her and hurriedly bowed in respect.
Ye Chen, however, kept his eyes on the Tian Lao, worried about the King of Hell and also about Shura Tian Zun. Such a massive disturbance had shaken all of Tian Jie; who knew what Yu Di was thinking? A single command from him could cost lives.
"Little guy, you're not so simple." Bi Xia Xian Zi suddenly smiled.
"You've been investigating me for so long, qianbei, have you uncovered anything?" Ye Chen replied casually, though his gaze remained fixed on the Tian Lao.
"You knew?"
"If I hadn't known those were your people, do you think they would have made it back alive?" Ye Chen's words were casual, but along the way, he had been followed by more than one group—some from Zi Yang Xian Jun and some from Bi Xia Xian Zi. He could eliminate Zi Yang Xian Jun's people, and he certainly had the ability to do the same to hers.
However, out of consideration for Yue Xin, he had shown restraint.
Bi Xia Xian Zi's delicate brows furrowed slightly, and the way she looked at Ye Chen gained a deeper meaning. The people she sent were all Zhun Di, masters of concealment with immortal techniques that could defy heaven and create miracles. For this little Shi Tou Jing to sense them was quite alarming.
"How about I make a deal with you, qianbei?" Ye Chen turned his head and smiled.
"Oh?"
"Give me the information I want, and I'll tell you what you want to know."
"What information do you need? Feel free to say." Bi Xia Xian Zi was intrigued.
"All the information on Yu Di."
"Little guy, do you realize what you're saying?" The smile on Bi Xia Xian Zi's face faded considerably. Demanding information on Yu Di was basically courting death. Even if she had it, she wouldn't dare hand it over.
"Quick, quick, disperse!"
An urgent voice rang out as Si Ming Xing Jun suddenly appeared from nowhere. Without another word, he grabbed Ye Chen and started to leave.
The so-called "disperse" was something only Ye Chen and he could understand—it meant the barrier between Tian Jie and the human world was dissipating. In other words, the Ren Wang could now perform the borrowing method.
Ye Chen's eyes lit up, and he turned to leave. As he did, a faint voice echoed back, "If you change your mind, qianbei, you can summon me anytime."
The emperors of Da Chu were indeed bold. His reason for wanting Yu Di's information was to investigate the exact relationship between Yu Di and the Tian Mo.
