After withdrawing his gaze from that direction, Ye Chen turned and left, feeling uncomfortable all over his body.
Once he left Feng Chan Ancient City, he headed straight to the next city. A vast map had already been marked with routes, aiming to search every place in one night. As for the Five Peaks Duel, he paid it no mind at all. He had come to Feng Chan Immortal Land solely to find his family.
As he departed the ancient city, shadowy figures followed one after another, trailing him like shadows.
Ye Chen ignored them. If this were outside, he could have wiped out that group of quasi-emperors.
Under the bright moonlight, three figures streaked across the sky outside Kunlun Mountain.
Taking a closer look, it was indeed Taiyi and Taibai. As for the third, it was also a familiar face—one who had recently visited Da Chu: Siming Xingjun from the Heavenly Court.
"Confirm he’s also called Ye Chen?"
"The eight hundred and sixteenth time."
"Don't mess around, that's the eight hundred and seventeenth time."
Taiyi and Taibai each responded, counting for Siming Xingjun. He had asked this question over eight hundred times on the way, and their ears were practically calloused from it.
"It must be him."
"It must be him."
Siming Xingjun muttered repeatedly. Earlier, he had roamed wildly through the realms searching for the tribulation-bound Ye Chen, but his luck was poor, and he hadn't found him. He had heard about the Huashan Dao Discussion, but he wasn't there that day. Only after seeing the portrait Taiyi provided did he suddenly confirm that it was absolutely the tribulation-bound Ye Chen, with the exact same appearance and name.
At first, he thought it was a coincidence, but upon careful thought, he instantly understood. The tribulation of Da Chu's tenth emperor was likely different from others—it must involve reincarnation with memories intact.
"You sly Wang, you should have told me earlier and saved all this trouble."
Siming Xingjun cursed under his breath, mentally cursing Wang's ancestors eight generations back. If he had known it was reincarnation with memories, why would he have wandered aimlessly through the realms?
"What's gotten into this guy?" Taiyi and Taibai muttered, one on each side, not for the first time glancing at him. Today's Siming Xingjun had been muttering to himself the whole way, though they had no idea what he was saying.
As they spoke, the three landed one after another in front of Kunlun Mountain.
"Friend Kunlun, it's been many years— I hope you've been well." Siming Xingjun cupped his hands in greeting.
"I've been well." Kunlun's sect leader replied in a flat tone. He never thought much of the Heavenly Court, especially that Jade Emperor—such a high status was just too blindingly arrogant.
"Won't you invite us in for a chat?" Taibai shot him a glance.
"If you have business, just say it." Kunlun's sect leader's tone grew even cooler. He really didn't favor the Heavenly Court. These three great immortals weren't even being allowed through the door.
"We wish to see Ye Chen from Huashan—please make it convenient." Siming Xingjun stated his purpose directly, with no time for small talk. He already knew Kunlun's old daoist's temperament and didn't dare act presumptuously.
"He's already left the mountain." As Kunlun's old daoist spoke, he blocked off the outside world.
Siming Xingjun rubbed his brow, frustrated that they had rushed here only to miss him.
"He'll definitely be at tomorrow's duel—what's the hurry?" Taibai said.
Siming Xingjun said nothing and stepped into the sky, heading toward the nearest ancient city.
He was in a hurry, of course. The barrier between the Heavenly Realm and the mortal world could open at any moment, so he had to find Ye Chen before that. Once the two realms were separated, any search would be pointless.
Taiyi and Taibai were baffled, not understanding why he was so desperate to find Ye Chen.
The stars shone brightly, and the moonlight was clear.
Ye Chen arrived at another ancient city, his divine sense sweeping over it. Finding no reincarnated souls, he turned and left, like a hurried traveler—coming quickly and going just as fast, covered in dust from the road.
By late night, he had searched over a hundred ancient cities.
Unfortunately, his luck was poor. In the crowded Feng Chan Immortal Land, full of cultivators, he hadn't found a single reincarnated person—not even anyone who looked similar.
Accompanied by the scattered starlight, he crossed another great mountain.
By now, the number of followers in the shadows had risen from a few hundred to over a thousand. No one knew how those old fellows had uncovered his identity; they were all here for the Dao Sutra and had already used their divine powers to plant tracking marks on him, so they could find him easily after the duel ended.
They thought their methods were masterful and could easily deceive a minor saint.
In reality, what they considered clever tricks were laughable in Ye Chen's eyes—just pathetic setups. The tracking marks they planted would become keys, keys to unlock the gates of the underworld.
This night was quite dramatic.
One was Da Chu's emperor, searching ancient city after ancient city; the other was Siming Xingjun, doing the same. The two moved one after the other across the entire immortal land but never crossed paths, leaving Siming strongly suspecting that Ye Chen might not even be in Feng Chan Immortal Land.
Siming Xingjun was indeed in Feng Chan Immortal Land, but Ye Chen had no idea. He continued diligently, determined not to stop until he found a reincarnated soul. How could there be none?
In the end, his persistence paid off. In a remote ancient town on the edge, he found reincarnated souls—not just one, but four—and they were a family of four brothers.
"Dongfang, Ximen, Nangong, Beichen—interesting."
Ye Chen watched quietly, his expression quite peculiar.
These four reincarnated souls belonged to Da Chu's four great hidden families: an elder from the Dongfang family, an elder from the Ximen family, a disciple from the Nangong family, and a soldier from the Beichen family. After a full cycle of reincarnation, they miraculously ended up in the same family as identical quadruplets.
Because of this, Da Chu's generational hierarchy was thrown into chaos again. He had no idea how to address them once their soul memories were unlocked—should he call them seniors or brothers?
In the dead of night, Ye Chen entered their residence.
Soon after, the four sleeping individuals were dragged together. Four streams of memory immortal light entered them one by one. Instant groans of pain arose as they clutched their heads and roared. Memories from their past lives flooded in like tidal waves, overwhelming their clear minds and etching out their former selves.
What followed were wails of crying. Every reincarnated soul shed tears.
Fortunately, Ye Chen had set up a soundproof barrier beforehand; otherwise, the entire residence would have been in an uproar. All the dust and effort of the night hadn't been in vain—he had found his past-life kin.
The emotional scene was filled with沧sang and mostly tears.
The four sat in a neat row on the rooftop, quietly gazing up at the stars, as if they could peer through the endless void to see that beautiful homeland. No amount of astonishment or legend could compare to their homesickness. After a full cycle of reincarnation, the years were too long.
This sight left the hidden watchers baffled, wondering what the little stone spirit had done to those four. They were crying and laughing like lunatics.
He had found the reincarnated souls, but Ye Chen felt a bit melancholic about how to send them back to the various heavens. The underworld had its cycle of reincarnation, but he didn't know if the heavenly realm did. Without a rift, the four couldn't return home. He'd have to ask Daozu for help with this.
The reincarnated souls withdrew their gazes from the stars and looked at Ye Chen in unison.
Their eyes showed a mix of shock, gratitude, confusion, and astonishment: shock at Ye Chen slaying a great emperor, gratitude for him finding them, confusion about his reincarnation with memories, and astonishment at his earth-shattering deeds in the heavenly realm.
The Holy Lord of the Heavenly Court had such a rich history—they still couldn't believe that this legendary figure from their homeland had created so many myths, or rather, he was the myth himself.
"For now, don't leave the immortal land." Ye Chen said leisurely, implying he didn't want them venturing into the outside world. In this chaotic era, without strong combat power, their lives would be at risk.
He had considered taking them to Huashan, but quickly dismissed the idea. Huashan was about to face turmoil, possibly even a rebellion, likely leading to a bloody storm. More importantly, he was heading to the Upper Immortal Realm, where dangers abounded. Taking them along would be risky. Compared to the outside, Feng Chan was safer—at least fighting was prohibited there.
If possible, he would ask Kunlun's sect leader to take them in at Kunlun.
The four nodded in agreement, unconditionally following Ye Chen's arrangements. They knew their own strength was insufficient and wouldn't go out to court trouble, as it might cause problems for Ye Chen.
Boom! Rumble!
Suddenly, a series of rumbles echoed from an unknown source. After the sound, whether it was Ye Chen, the reincarnated souls, or the hidden observers, all felt their minds tremble. It was a spiritual shock, accompanied by an ominous premonition.
Ye Chen looked up at the vast sky, quietly gazing into the distance. Others might not know, but he understood it must be related to the primordial great wilderness. This added to his worries about the safety of Di Huang and Hong Yan.
Indeed, the source was from the primordial great wilderness.
As for Di Huang and Hong Yan, they were in a truly miserable state. Ever since they scattered that day, they had been ambushed every few days and hunted every so often. Even someone as strong as Di Huang was left with a bloody and battered sacred body.
Fortunately, the heavens there had shifting patterns of qi. Once disrupted, an inexplicable force would sweep them away—mysterious and terrifying, something even a great saint body or emperor couldn't resist.
Precisely because of this, Di Huang and Hong Yan had escaped multiple times.
Also because of this, the demon armies that gathered repeatedly were scattered just as often. If luck was on their side, Di Huang and Hong Yan could even launch small counterattacks.
Boom! Rumble!
The booms continued incessantly—it was a three-way war. Di Huang and the emperors were besieged, Hong Yan was chased by various emperors, and as for the third party, they weren't faring much better.
These three epic battles made that realm even more chaotic.
Ironically, all sides in the chaos didn't know where the primordial great wilderness was. The demons were clueless, and so were they. They spent their days fighting, fleeing, and chasing. The supreme-level conflicts grew more intense, and every battle shook the three realms of heaven, earth, and humanity.
As doomsday descended, the dim divine light fell on Hong Yan.
From afar, the once magnificent queen looked utterly wretched. She had been surrounded by three demon emperors, one of whom was at the peak level, nearly getting obliterated. She escaped with her life after nine near-deaths, her primordial spirit severely damaged, and her condition extremely poor.
"Where exactly is the primordial great wilderness?"
Hong Yan murmured for what must have been the hundredth time, gripping her blood-stained dao sword and leaving bloody footprints with each step. Her back was full of沧sang and solitude, her stunning face etched with exhaustion.
As she walked, a hazy mist appeared ahead, outlining a vague figure.
In reality, they were tens of thousands of miles apart, but she could see that the figure was staggering, clearly injured. Even from that distance, she could smell the blood.
"A person from the various heavens." Hong Yan narrowed her beautiful eyes, confirming it wasn't Di Huang.
In an instant, immortal light flashed in her eyes as she concentrated her vision to the extreme, piercing through layer upon layer of mist and seeing through the qi of the universe, ignoring the distance. Finally, she clearly saw that figure.
"It's him." She murmured again, her tone full of surprise.
