Chapter 1935: So Mysterious?

"Hmm, not bad," Ren Wang said, and with a wave of his hand, he summoned another array. "Come, try this one."

The array appeared, vast and covering the sky, immense in scale. Ye Chen found himself enveloped in hazy mist, unable to see in any direction, with a mysterious force obscuring his vision and even his divine sense.

Unlike the previous array, this one was a trapping array, lacking any offensive power. It was filled with swirling yin fog and flowing immortal light, though the light was elusive and impossible to grasp, as it was all illusory and not real.

In an instant, the Bagua symbols etched in his eyes manifested again, matching each array point one by one.

Although this array had no offensive capabilities, it had numerous array points that constantly shifted and changed in endless variations. At this level, unless one's combat power was extraordinarily high, it would be nearly impossible to force it open.

Fortunately, Ye Chen had mastered the essence of the Bagua, allowing him to discern its weaknesses.

After some analysis, he discovered that two of the array points remained unchanged, meaning they were the vital points. Destroying those two would break the array.

As he spoke, he summoned his Dharma body. His true self and Dharma body attacked the two array points separately.

With a booming sound, the two array points were destroyed almost simultaneously. The array became unstable, with gaps appearing frequently. Ye Chen and his Saintly War Dharma body walked out casually, as if strolling in a garden, and the array was broken once more.

However, before he could catch his breath, Ren Wang activated another array.

This time, it was a killing array infused with destructive power. It featured divine dragons coiling, phoenixes dancing in the nine heavens, white tigers roaring, and black tortoises paving the way, enhanced by sword light and lightning, creating terrifying visions. Even with Ye Chen's strength, he was severely wounded in an instant, his sacred body exposing blood and bones.

Ye Chen evaded with his profound body techniques while simultaneously using the Bagua to identify the unchanging array points. There were four of them, positioned in the four directions, each surrounded by many other array points, causing the array to undergo thousands of changes every second.

Ye Chen and his Dharma body moved again, each targeting two array points.

Though profound, the array was still broken, mainly because the weaknesses were found accurately. Otherwise, with his current cultivation, even if he wasn't killed, he would be trapped to death. The Emperor Dao Fu Xi array was simply too dominant.

"Come, take a break," Ren Wang called out, then tossed a wine flask to Ye Chen.

Ye Chen caught the wine flask and said nothing, just quietly drinking while pondering the arrays in his mind.

"What are your thoughts?" Ren Wang asked with a smile.

"I've gained a lot from it," Ye Chen replied.

"Arrays are like people, and people are like arrays. Just as arrays change, people must not be rigid; they need to adapt. The key to creating and breaking arrays is the concept of change. Only by concealing changes in the intangible can you strike invisibly. This is the method of Fu Xi's Emperor Dao arrays," Ren Wang said leisurely.

"Is there an array in this world with no weaknesses?" Ye Chen asked humbly.

"Nothing is absolute; if it's an array, it has weaknesses."

"I understand."

"Your talent isn't low, but compared to Yao Chi, you're still a step behind. At least, your comprehension of arrays is far inferior to hers," Ren Wang said mysteriously. "Back then, I considered passing the Emperor Dao Fu Xi array to her, but the Wuzi Heavenly Book chose her, so I gave up."

"Why?" Ye Chen asked in confusion. "If she has the Wuzi Heavenly Book, does that mean she can't cultivate the Emperor Dao Fu Xi array?"

"The Wuzi Heavenly Book originates from Daozu Hong Jun, while the Emperor Dao Fu Xi array is passed down from the Human Emperor. The paths of these two great emperors differ greatly, leading to mutual repulsion between the Wuzi Heavenly Book and the Emperor Dao Fu Xi array. To cultivate the Emperor Dao Fu Xi, one must abandon the Wuzi Heavenly Book, and vice versa," Ren Wang explained slowly, making the matter sound quite profound.

"Back then, you had two Wuzi Heavenly Books. Why did you only pass one to her?"

"Because I foresaw you," Ren Wang said with a laugh. "I wanted to see whether the Wuzi Heavenly Book would choose you, who cultivate the Chaos Dao, or her, who embodies the ultimate sanctity of all things. In the end, it proved your character wasn't as good as Yao Chi's—the Wuzi Heavenly Book still chose her and didn't even consider the Chaos body."

"What a twist of fate," Ye Chen said, his eyes dropping slightly, filled with deep sorrow.

"Let's not dwell on sad things. Let's talk about the Dun Jia Heavenly Book instead." Seeing Ye Chen's state, Ren Wang changed the topic.

The mention of the Dun Jia Heavenly Book made Ye Chen lift his eyes again, looking at Ren Wang with hope, expecting a definitive answer.

"The Dun Jia Heavenly Book has existed since the dawn of heaven and earth," Ren Wang said. "No one knows its origins—not even the Human Emperor could unravel it. It's known to hide eternal secrets. Throughout history, more than one emperor has tried to collect the Dun Jia heavenly characters, but none have uncovered its mysteries. I've deduced it myself, but all I got was chaos; I don't know where it comes from."

"Is it this mysterious?" Ye Chen murmured to himself, waving his hand to summon the Chaos Cauldron. The Dun Jia heavenly characters etched on it were all golden and radiant, containing endless Dao insights, incredibly profound.

"You must have tried using the Dun Jia heavenly characters to set up arrays; their power is even greater," Ren Wang continued. "It doesn't repel the Emperor Dao Fu Xi array; instead, it provides a mysterious enhancement."

"Is that why you taught me the Emperor Dao Fu Xi array?" Ye Chen asked tentatively.

"That's one of the reasons," Ren Wang said, taking a sip of wine. "In the future, you and the Chaos body will inevitably clash. You have the Chaos Cauldron, and he has the Hong Meng Purple Qi; you cultivate the Chaos Dao, and so does he; you have the Dun Jia heavenly characters, and he does too, along with the inheritance of Hong Jun's Dao arrays. A Hong Jun Dao array enhanced by the Dun Jia heavenly characters would be unbeatable for you. To put it bluntly, right now, you can't defeat the Chaos body. Your lack of skill in arrays is a fatal weakness in his eyes. That's another reason I taught you the Emperor Dao Fu Xi array."

"From what you're saying, Hong Jun's Dao arrays aren't inferior to Emperor Dao Fu Xi."

"They each have their merits," Ren Wang said, stretching lazily. "With the Emperor Dao Fu Xi, at least you won't suffer a major loss when fighting him, but that doesn't mean you'll beat the Chaos body."

Ye Chen fell silent again. Ren Wang didn't need to tell him; he already knew how terrifying the Chaos body was. Back at the Tian Zun ruins, he had witnessed it—the perfect bloodline without any flaws.

He was even more certain that if they had fought at the Tian Zun ruins, he would have lost decisively, with the outcome being his death and the Chaos body severely wounded.

"Continue testing the arrays," Ren Wang said, pushing Ye Chen out and then waving his hand to summon a large array. "You'll stay on this star for a long time, until you've fully comprehended the Emperor Dao Fu Xi. Next will be searching for the Dun Jia heavenly characters, and that journey will be incredibly long."

Ye Chen didn't respond; he was focused on breaking the array. This one was even more complex, with eight unchanging array points.

However, now that he understood the principles of the Bagua, breaking it was just a matter of time.

Ren Wang relaxed, sipping his wine and watching the live scene. Every time Ye Chen broke out of an array, he would casually summon another one, each more dominant than the last.

And so, day after day, three months passed quietly.

Of the eighty-one arrays in the Emperor Dao Fu Xi, Ye Chen had tried most of them. A few times, he had nearly perished inside; the arrays grew more terrifying as they progressed, and even he struggled to break them quickly.

On another deep night, Ye Chen finally broke out of the array, but he was covered in blood, sitting cross-legged to heal and meditate.

That rascal Ren Wang had slacked off too, lying on a rock and snoring away.

As he slept, he suddenly sat up with a start, stunned for a second before muttering to himself, "Something's wrong."

Ye Chen was also awakened, frowning at him.

Ren Wang ignored him and kept pinching his fingers to deduce, his expression shifting between light and dark, muttering incoherently, "You sly Hong Jun, how dare you deceive me? Even a supreme being like you plays tricks?"

"What are you talking about?" Ye Chen frowned.

"Nothing," Ren Wang said, flopping back onto the rock with a thud. His old face was pitch black with anger. "Just wait. In the future, both you and the Chaos body will find yourselves in an awkward situation."

Ye Chen was completely baffled, pondering silently: Was there something even more terrifying than the Chaos body in the days to come?

Slowly clearing his thoughts, he closed his eyes and used the Saintly Dao to restore his injuries.

As he quieted down, Ren Wang seemed to be stimulated by something and started banging his head against the rock, cursing, "Hong Jun, you bastard."

For some reason, the two supreme beings in the underworld felt inexplicably refreshed watching him lose his composure, as if they knew why he was like this. After all, the ginger gets spicier with age—he might play games, but he still couldn't outplay a great emperor.

Half an hour later, Ye Chen had recovered from his injuries and leaped to his feet.

Ren Wang summoned the array without a word.

Perhaps because he was in a foul mood or had taken the wrong medicine, this array was extremely dominant.

Inside the array was a world of destruction: the sky was shattering, the earth collapsing, the sun extinguishing, and the stars disintegrating. In the dim heavens, desolation reigned supreme. Every streak of lightning that darted through was devastating, and every wisp of immortal light carried apocalyptic power.

Pfft!

Ye Chen entered the array and nearly got obliterated in an instant.

After three to five breaths of analysis, he finally figured it out: this array had ninety-nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-eight array points. Besides eighty-one that remained still, all the others were constantly changing.

This was an incredibly fearsome array—the first of its kind Ye Chen had seen besides the ancient Great Chu's Zhutian Wheel of Reincarnation Array. It combined killing, trapping, sealing, locking the divine soul, and body destruction into one, utterly terrifying.

Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!

In just a few moments, his sacred body exploded multiple times, and his Dao roots, primordial spirit, true form, and origin were all heavily damaged. The array battered him relentlessly, leaving him unable to lift his head, with the constant risk of being wiped out.

Ren Wang coughed awkwardly and hastily dispelled the array. He had messed up.

He had indeed messed up. It was supposed to progress from easy to difficult, but he had jumped several levels at once, going straight to the most powerful one. Naturally, Ye Chen couldn't handle it.

Pfft!

As soon as the array was withdrawn, Ye Chen spat out a mouthful of fresh blood and staggered, barely able to stand. His sturdy ancient sacred body was completely mangled, more wretched than after a bloody battle.

"Isn't this array dominant?" Ren Wang asked, pretending to be calm as he stroked his beard.

"Dominant my ass," Ye Chen felt an urge to curse. Do you even know that's an array that can kill Great Saints? I'm just a Saint King—are you testing me or trying to kill me off?

In that moment, Ye Chen desperately wanted to shove this jerk Ren Wang into a cesspit and drown him. If not for his deep foundation, Ren Wang's unreliable move would have sent him straight to the afterlife.
