"I know, but I won't tell you." Jiuchen's answer to Moyuan was particularly smug. As he spoke, he even smoothed his hair, looking like he was asking for a beating.
This left Moyuan feeling somewhat awkward. As the great Tuntian Mozun, with his lover being the legendary Honglian Nüdi, who had shaken the ancient world, he was not used to being teased like this.
Fortunately, Honglian Nüdi was no longer alive. If she were still here, she would have given Jiuchen a thorough beating. That fiery empress who had incinerated the eight wastelands was not known for her patience.
Moyuan smiled and shook his head. At his age, his temper had mellowed. In his younger days, he would have started a fight on the spot.
Jiang Taixu also just shook his head and smiled, seemingly quite familiar with Jiuchen's domineering bloodline and peculiar personality.
"Body of mixed spirits." Jiuchen spoke again, but this time he wasn't addressing Jiang Taixu and Moyuan. He was looking at Yunxiao Zi.
Among the seven sons of Donghua, Yunxiao Zi was the only woman. Her extraordinary beauty was comparable to Yaochi Xianmu and Feng Huang—untouched by worldly matters, free from mortal dust, with a perfect and saintly beauty that felt like a dream.
Looking at her, Jiuchen's gaze grew distant, his expression turning melancholic and nostalgic, as if recalling ancient events.
Once, there had been another body of chaos, but she was long gone. Even after countless eons, he still remembered that woman—her every smile and frown etched deeply into his bones, impossible to erase through the changes of seas and mountains.
Being stared at so intently by him, the aloof Yunxiao Zi furrowed her brow. This person was truly strange.
Jiuchen gave a self-mocking smile but didn't leave. Instead, he pulled out a small stool and sat down right at her feet.
Moyuan and Jiang Taixu were baffled, not understanding what the Honghuang Qilin was up to. What was the point of sitting there?
Yunxiao Zi felt the most awkward of all. There were so many other places to sit, yet he chose to sit right at her feet. Was he ill, or was he asking for a kick?
"Based on my calculations, it seems this fellow has taken a fancy to our Yunxiao Zi," Chiyang Zi said, stroking his beard with a knowing look.
"Is this going to turn into an eternal battle?" Wuji Zi sighed, not even glancing at Jiuchen, but instead looking toward the sky above the blood sea, where Taotie and Ye Chen were still in pursuit.
The two of them had a peculiar dynamic. Ever since entering the blood sea, they hadn't exchanged blows. They just kept chasing and fleeing endlessly.
Watching this scene, more and more spectators pulled out their small stools, lining up neatly in rows.
"Come, have a seat." The young Ape Emperor was quite thoughtful, handing one to everyone. Long Jie was equally considerate, passing out packets of sunflower seeds to all.
The sound of cracking seeds filled the air with a rhythmic crunch. A group of young prodigies sat in a row, snacking away. The sight was quite pleasing, drawing contented smiles from the elder generations.
The elders weren't idle either. While the young ones snacked, they sipped their wine. It was all because Ye Chen and Taotie were putting on such a drawn-out show.
"Grandpa, what's the story with that guy across from us?" Xiao Jiuxian sat next to Jiuxiao Zhenren, not snacking herself but pointing with a small finger toward Chen Yi.
"What guy? His seniority is terrifyingly high," Jiuxiao Zhenren chuckled. "He's Yaochi Nüdi's younger brother."
"An emperor's lineage? I have to check that out." Xiao Jiuxian grinned mischievously and darted through the crowd like a streak of light.
Chen Yi was leisurely drinking when this little girl suddenly appeared in front of him. She tilted her head up, her big eyes blinking as she stared at his handsome face, examining him closely.
Even with his imperial heritage, Chen Yi felt uncomfortable under her gaze. What made it worse was the strange look in Xiao Jiuxian's eyes, like a child eyeing her favorite candy.
"Little one, what brings you here?" Yaochi Xianmu, standing beside Chen Yi, smiled gently, easing the awkward atmosphere. She knew all too well how spirited this girl could be.
"I'm just wandering around." Xiao Jiuxian giggled, then planted herself next to Chen Yi. Every now and then, she'd sneak a peek at him and ask, "Are you married yet?"
"From the looks of it, our Xiao Jiuxian is about to be swept off her feet." Across the way, the young Ape Emperor smirked. "What's so great about that guy? He's not as handsome as me, and he doesn't have as much fur."
No sooner had he spoken than a thunderous boom echoed from the void, making everyone perk up. After such a long chase, they finally heard some action—it seemed a real fight was about to start.
But they were mistaken. The boom came because Ye Chen had dodged too slowly and taken a palm strike from Taotie.
Though the strike was fierce, it didn't seriously hurt him. After steadying himself, Ye Chen continued his frantic escape. To the onlookers, he was like a shadowy blur darting up and down—if their eyesight wasn't sharp, they'd be rubbing their eyes.
"Damn you, you deserve to die!" Taotie roared in fury. As the Taotie prince, he couldn't even catch someone in his own secret blood realm—it was utterly humiliating.
"You lowly ant, all you do is run!" His shout prompted the younger members of the Taotie clan to join in, roaring back. It was a blatant taunt, meant to provoke Ye Chen into fighting.
"Idiots! Your whole clan is full of idiots!" With the Taotie side hurling insults, Ye Chen's group wasn't about to back down.
Long Jie, the young Ape Emperor, and the others stopped snacking and gathered at the edge of the battle platform, yelling at the top of their lungs.
Their outburst only fueled the fire. The entire Taotie clan exploded in anger, with their younger members rising up in waves.
A full-blown shouting match erupted, one side hyped up like they'd been injected with stimulants, the other like they'd swallowed gunpowder. The noise shook the heavens.
The elders grew restless, their ears ringing from the racket. The main battle hadn't even ended, and now there was a verbal war below.
Still, it had to be said that the young Ape Emperor's group was shamelessly impressive. Though outnumbered, their yelling overpowered the opposition, holding their ground with sheer volume.
This display left the elder generations of the various heavens beaming with pride. When it came to being shameless, their young talents were top-notch, each one a force to be reckoned with.
In contrast, the Taotie elders looked absolutely furious, all because the young Ape Emperor's crew was hurling insults that were particularly crude.
Their own younger members, despite being more numerous, couldn't hold their own in the verbal barrage and were left speechless. The elders couldn't very well jump in to help—even if they swallowed their pride, they wouldn't know what to say.
"Keep it up!" Ye Chen couldn't help but laugh, his spirits soaring. With his mood lifted, his movements became even quicker.
"Suppress him for me!" The ninth Taotie prince caught up again, thrusting out a palm that summoned nine vicious dragons, each carrying a devouring force.
"With them?" Ye Chen sneered, drawing his golden saber and slashing through three in one stroke. He followed with a palm strike that obliterated three more, and the last three he stomped into blood mist with his feet, merging them back into the blood sea.
"Exterminate!" In a flash, Taotie closed in, his third eye firing a bolt of dark lightning.
It was an attack aimed at the soul, bypassing Ye Chen's physical defenses and heading straight for his sea of consciousness to destroy his true soul.
Ye Chen snorted inwardly, transforming his soul into a sword to shatter the lightning. Then he soared upward, gripping his divine saber with both hands for a heaven-shattering slash that split the blood sea in two.
He'd delayed long enough—if he waited any longer, the Honghuang forces might see through his motives. It was time to fight for real.
"Not running anymore?" Taotie grinned viciously as he ascended, forming seals with one hand to unleash the Taotie clan's secret technique.
The heavens trembled as a massive vortex appeared, spinning wildly with an overwhelmingly dominant devouring force.
This vortex connected to the Taotie divine repository—a greedy race that didn't just swallow with their mouths; their divine vortex could do the same.
"Let's see you swallow this." Ye Chen scoffed and charged into the vast void, transforming his golden saber into a massive war spear.
He thrust the spear into the vortex and stirred it frantically. While it spun one way, he stirred the opposite, the collision sparking an explosion of fierce power.
Due to his disruption, the vortex crackled with lightning and hummed violently before shuddering to a stop and shattering piece by piece.
Taotie grunted, his eyes bloodshot and his face twisted in rage. The vortex was linked to his divine repository, so its destruction wounded him too, though not fatally.
"Now it's my turn." Ye Chen advanced, wielding the spear like a club and smashing it down, distorting the space around it.
"Kill!" Taotie surged upward, relying on his powerful physique to meet the strike bare-handed.
To his credit, his body was extraordinarily tough, even stronger than Qiongqi's. Ye Chen's strike was obliterated, and though Taotie's fist bones shattered, they regenerated in an instant—his recovery was even more astonishing than Qiongqi's, truly defying heaven.
"This tough hide is something else," Ye Chen muttered with a tsk.
"Today, I will end you!" Gaining a slight edge, Taotie laughed wildly, his confidence skyrocketing as he charged with overwhelming killing intent, savage and bloodthirsty.
Ye Chen didn't bother responding. He clenched his golden fist, manifesting yin and yang in his palm to form chaos, and punched through space itself.
Taotie was caught off guard. He had just charged forward when he was blasted back, stumbling dozens of yards in the void before steadying himself. Before he could catch his breath, Ye Chen's divine light finger struck, piercing even his formidable body.
Blood sprayed everywhere, the wound on Taotie's chest gruesome as fresh blood gushed like a fountain.
Ye Chen didn't let up, landing punch after punch, each one more powerful than the last.
The mighty Taotie was forced into retreat, punch after punch driving him from the eastern skies to the western void.
Blood and bones flew as his once-dominant body crumbled under the assault. He was blown apart several times, barely escaping death.
Seeing this, the Taotie quasi-emperors panicked and rose, their imperial aura surging as they readied their emperor weapons.
In response, three figures manifested in the opposite void: Qilin Huang, Kuiniu clan emperor, and Xuanwu Huang. Their quasi-emperor might rolled out, accompanied by the resonance of the great dao from their emperor weapons.
"This is a battle among juniors—stay out of it," Kuiniu clan emperor snorted coldly, his bovine eyes gleaming with fierce energy. He already harbored deep grudges against the Honghuang, and his killing intent was palpable. If the Taotie insisted on interfering, he wouldn't hesitate to start a war.
The Taotie quasi-emperor glared icily, knowing he couldn't handle three opponents alone. He looked to the other Honghuang quasi-emperor for help, but no one acknowledged him. Just like with Tao Wu, Qiongqi, and Teng She, if it wasn't their own, they didn't care—let them die without a second thought.
