Chapter 1726: Who Are You

Ye Chen and Chu Ling were both stunned by the white-haired woman's elegant arrival.

She was as beautiful as a dream, enveloped in immortal radiance and imbued with a magnificent fairy aura, completely detached from the mundane world and free from mortal dust.

Her eyes were as indifferent as still water, devoid of any human emotion.

Ye Chen was captivated, while Chu Ling was filled with confusion.

She resembled a woman from a painting, perfect and flawless. Every strand of her white hair shimmered with light, her peerless beauty eclipsing the surrounding world.

Ye Chen instinctively turned his head, looking at Chu Ling with a peculiar expression.

It wasn't surprising, as the white-haired woman looked exactly like Chu Ling, as if they were identical twin sisters.

The only difference was that Chu Ling possessed emotions while the white-haired woman did not, and Chu Ling had black hair while she had white. Otherwise, they were perfect replicas of each other.

Chu Ling's expression was also strange as she gazed at the white-haired woman, as if looking into a mirror, realizing just how beautiful she herself was.

"Who are you?" Chu Ling asked tentatively.

"Wu Lei," the white-haired woman replied lightly, her lips barely parting. Her voice was indifferent yet melodious, like heavenly music.

"So it is the city lord of Wu Lei City. This junior failed to recognize you," Ye Chen said, stepping forward and positioning Chu Ling behind him.

He was on guard, fearing Wu Lei might attack. He had already witnessed her terrifying power, an existence of absolute heaven-defying level.

In the past, in Zhu Tian, how many veteran Quasi-Emperors had been swatted by her palm to the edge of the universe? Her combat power was no less than that of the Sword God.

The sudden appearance of Wu Lei City in Ling Jie was strange, and now Wu Lei herself had arrived, making the matter even more bizarre.

The most bizarre thing was that she looked exactly like Chu Ling.

Why had Wu Lei City descended upon Ling Jie? What did Wu Lei intend to do? And why did she resemble Chu Ling?

Wise as he was, Ye Chen felt a bit baffled, caught completely off guard.

Everything had unfolded too abruptly, with so many strange events intertwined, making it impossible to untangle. No matter how he thought about it, it remained shrouded in fog.

"Who exactly are you?" Chu Ling whispered, stepping out from behind Ye Chen and looking at Wu Lei, her delicate brows slightly furrowed.

Wu Lei remained silent, like a gentle spring breeze, appearing before Chu Ling.

Seeing this, Ye Chen hurriedly stepped forward, but was restrained by a wave of Wu Lei's hand – a domineering Emperor-level binding immortal technique.

Ye Chen cursed inwardly, activating his Emperor Weapon, but to his frustration, even with Quasi-Emperor-level combat power, he couldn't break free from the restraint.

She was clearly just a Quasi-Emperor, yet she could even seal an Emperor Weapon. This completely bewildered him; it was simply too terrifying.

Chu Ling was also sealed, unable to move.

Wu Lei extended her jade hand, touching Chu Ling Er, gently brushing aside her hair and caressing her cheek.

In Wu Lei's beautiful eyes, a trace of human emotion finally appeared.

In that moment, Chu Ling was stunned. Wu Lei gave her a strange feeling, as if they had met before, like family, incredibly familiar.

On the side, Ye Chen was even more confused. What was going on with this woman? The way she looked at Chu Ling Er seemed off no matter how he viewed it.

"She couldn't be Chu Ling's mother, could she!" Ye Chen murmured to himself, thinking that this guess, though far-fetched, was possible.

"It's probably her." The more he considered it, the more plausible it seemed.

"Who exactly are you?" Chu Ling Er's brows furrowed deeper, staring straight ahead, asking for the third time, her tone indifferent.

Wu Lei still did not speak, instead looking towards Ye Chen, her water-like eyes indifferent yet carrying a hint of confusion.

Ye Chen furrowed his brows as well; Wu Lei's expression was too peculiar.

Time seemed to freeze for an instant, even the laws becoming illusory.

As a breeze blew, Wu Lei turned and stepped onto the immortal bridge, walking away step by step, her form gradually fading.

"Senior, you already gave Chu Xuan Er an Emperor Weapon, so why not give one to Chu Ling?" Ye Chen shouted.

If she actually gave one, they would truly hit the jackpot.

However, Wu Lei completely ignored his call. Her immortal form became transparent and then dissipated with the wind.

The ethereal Wu Lei City also faded away amidst the swirling mists.

Ye Chen coughed awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I'm someone who has slain emperors, and I'm quite popular lately. Treating me like this is really losing face."

"In the end, we still don't know who she is," Chu Ling sighed.

"Could she be your mother-in-law? Otherwise, why would she look so alike?"

"Based on my years of experience, it's absolutely her. Didn't you see the way she looked at you? It was so unnatural, and I even saw her smile."

"Go back and ask Chu Xuan and our master; they might know."

Ye Chen chattered on, his words full of meaning, like some divine-level deduction, sounding quite convincing.

Chu Ling didn't respond, glancing at Ye Chen and scratching her head.

Come to think of it, she had never seen her mother, not even once.

She only remembered that when their master brought them to Heng Yue, she was just starting to form memories, with no impression of family or hometown.

"If you can't figure it out, don't think about it," Ye Chen said, taking Chu Ling's hand and heading straight for the nearest ancient city. The world is full of wonders; anything can happen.

Chu Ling let Ye Chen lead her, walking far away but still turning back to glance at the spot where Wu Lei City had vanished.

It was nearly dawn when the two entered an ancient city.

The ancient city in the morning was bustling, filled with calls and shouts.

It was just like all the ancient cities they had visited; as soon as they entered, they heard discussions, mostly about Ye Chen.

"Are there any reincarnated people?" Chu Ling looked around as they walked.

"None," Ye Chen replied, pulling Chu Ling to sit at a teahouse by the road and brushing the dust off himself.

"Old sir, a pot of tea, please," Chu Ling said with a light smile.

"Youth is wonderful," the teahouse owner, an elderly man, said warmly, carrying a teapot and smiling like a kind grandfather.

Though he was a cultivator, he was in his twilight years, his old eyes cloudy, his skin wrinkled and aged, nearing the end of his life.

"Rest your feet and then hurry on," Chu Ling said, pouring a bowl for Ye Chen. She seemed even more anxious than him.

"Balance work and rest. When we have time, let's have a good chat, like borrowing your little mouth," Ye Chen said with a smirk.

"Get lost." Chu Ling kicked him. "You're so improper."

"If I get serious, even I'd be scared," Ye Chen said, sipping his tea and glancing at the elderly teahouse owner.

Vaguely, a flash of sharpness appeared in Ye Chen's eyes.

More precisely, a flash of cold light, icy and intense, reflected in the tea before vanishing in an instant.

After finishing a bowl, he picked up the teapot, pouring tea while casually scanning around, appearing completely relaxed.

His gaze settled on a nearby stall, selling all sorts of goods, mostly magical tools and cultivation pills.

The stall owner was a middle-aged man, tall and slender, refined and scholarly, holding an ancient book like a scholar.

As Ye Chen looked at him, the man lifted his eyes and smiled slightly at Ye Chen.

Ye Chen returned the courtesy with a smile, then lowered his gaze and continued drinking tea, though his eyes flickered with varying lights.

"What's wrong?" Chu Ling asked through a mental message, knowing Ye Chen well.

"There's a Tian Mo," Ye Chen replied with a smile on his face, acting naturally, while speaking privately to avoid being overheard.

"Which one?" Chu Ling asked, smiling on the surface but transmitting mentally.

"The teahouse owner here and the middle-aged stall owner across the way," Ye Chen said, sipping his tea as if nothing was amiss.

"No wonder you came here for tea," Chu Ling said with a laugh.

Ye Chen smiled. He had noticed as soon as they entered the ancient city. Though they hid well, concealing their Tian Mo origins, they couldn't escape his eyes.

He had slain two Tian Mo Emperors, so such tricks were mere child's play to him, revealed at a glance.

"How can there be Tian Mo in Ling Jie? Without a Heaven-Supporting Demon Pillar, how are they surviving?" Chu Ling asked, puzzled.

"Two Quasi-Emperor Tian Mo can create their own origins," Ye Chen pondered. "Just like the Demon Sovereign in the past."

"Lurking in Ling Jie, they must have some scheme," Chu Ling said, pouring more tea for Ye Chen and speaking through divine sense, unnoticed.

"It seems they're using Ling Jie as a springboard to attack Zhu Tian's myriad domains," Ye Chen said leisurely, sipping his tea.

"What do you plan to do? Start killing?" Chu Ling asked.

"I wonder if the Ten Yama Kings miss me," Ye Chen grinned, shaking his head thoughtfully, making Chu Ling twitch her mouth in amusement.
