Chapter 1607: Emotionless
Everyone had left, leaving only Chu Xuan on Yu Nü Peak. Not entirely alone, as Ye Chen was still there, fast asleep and snoring loudly.
Chu Xuan remained indifferent, lowering her gaze to quietly observe him.
He was only a little over three hundred years old, yet he carried a profound weariness, covered in the dust of time, which didn't match his age at all.
This was the same person she had dreamed of more than once.
This was also the one who had trudged forward on the Naihe Bridge, dragging his battered body and paving a path soaked in blood.
Still, she showed no emotion, silently turning away and ascending to the mountaintop.
Gazing down at Hengyue Zong, every flower, every blade of grass, every tree, and every shrub seemed familiar yet strange, as if she had seen them all in her dreams before.
Night fell, and the brilliant starlight bathed Hengyue Zong in its glow.
Ye Chen's little finger twitched, and he slowly opened his eyes.
Immediately, he flipped over and sat up, anxiously scanning his surroundings, as if searching for something, fearing that Wulei City had all been a dream.
In the end, he spotted Chu Xuan's graceful figure on the mountaintop.
Under the moonlight, she appeared like an ethereal fairy, pure and flawless.
A gentle breeze stirred, lifting her long hair strand by strand, each one shimmering with light, making her seem like a dream, distant and enchanting.
Ye Chen smiled warmly, his expression hazy and entranced as he gazed at her.
He made his way to the mountaintop as well, extending his broad arms to embrace her from behind."Chu Xuan, it's been three hundred years."
His words were filled with weariness and hoarseness, and in that moment, time seemed to freeze, as if he could hold her like this forever, until the end of the world.
Chu Xuan stood still as a statue, neither resisting nor pulling away.
Her eyes were tearless and emotionless, like a puppet devoid of feelings, untouched by anything in the world.
On the various peaks, figures stood as well, mostly in pairs, such as Xiong Er and Tang Ruxuan, or Xie Yun and Mu Wanqing.
There were also those lost in sorrow, like Liu Yi, clutching a wine flask and drinking himself into a stupor while missing his Nangong Yue, or Long Wu, gazing at the moon and thinking of his Dongfang Yuling.
Three hundred years had passed, bringing some together and scattering others, turning the affairs of the heart into tales of joy and sorrow.
"One year. Within one year, if she does not shed a single tear for you, Wulei City will still take her back."
A faint female voice descended from the nine heavens, ethereal and lingering.
It was Donghuang Taixin, transmitting her divine consciousness through great mystical powers.
Ye Chen finally released Chu Xuan, took her jade-like hand, and led her down from the mountaintop."Let me show you our home."
Chu Xuan remained indifferent, unmoved, allowing Ye Chen to lead her.
"That's Yu Nü Pavilion, where you used to meditate and cultivate."
"That's Yu Ling Pool, where you can soak to heal injuries."
"That's Yu Ling Garden, where spirit beasts for travel are kept."
"That's Hui Xin Stone, a great place for sitting in meditation and enlightenment."
Ye Chen pointed things out as they walked, just as Chu Xuan had once done for him, with every detail now vividly clear in his mind.
Chu Xuan said nothing—or rather, since she had appeared in the world, she hadn't uttered a single word, her demeanor as calm as still water.
All she knew was that Ye Chen's smile was full of warmth, and his hand was very gentle, evoking a strange sense of familiarity.
The night grew deeper, and Ye Chen escorted her back to Yu Nü Pavilion.
He had intended to go in, sit down, and have a good chat about sleeping arrangements.
But as he approached, the door shut right in his face, leaving him with a bloody nose and an awkward laugh.
In the dead of night, the Xuanyuan Jian flew over and merged into his body.
He didn't leave, instead sitting on the stone steps outside Yu Nü Pavilion.
Hugging a wine flask, he buried his head and chuckled foolishly to himself, occasionally glancing back at the door, where the person he loved most was inside.
In a few moments, it all felt surreal.
He could hardly believe that Chu Xuan had really returned, even if she was tearless and emotionless—for she was still herself, and one day, she would awaken.
Inside the room, Chu Xuan sat quietly in meditation, silently watching the young man chuckling foolishly outside. He had so many stories.
The night passed without incident, and dawn broke with a new day.
Early in the morning, before the sky was fully light, Ye Chen was already standing in front of Yu Nü Pavilion, raising his hand to knock but ultimately lowering it.
He crept to the window, pried open a small gap, and peered inside without saying a word.
As he peered, he quickly withdrew his gaze and rubbed his eyes hard, dazzled by the immortal light emanating from Chu Xuan's body, making his vision sparkle with stars.
"Oh boy, what's going on here?" a sigh came from behind, as Xiong Er, Xie Yun, and Situ Nan arrived, arms linked.
"Morning," Ye Chen replied casually, still rubbing his eyes.
"Brother, I did a quick divination—looks like you're not getting in," Xiong Er said, waggling his chubby fingers with a knowing look.
"Grandpa here divined it too—not enough Huan Huan San to go around," Xie Yun said in a mystical tone, speaking earnestly.
"Get lost, don't drag me into your nonsense," Xiong Er shot back, kicking him.
"Come on, this is the good stuff." Compared to those two, Situ Nan was more reliable, handing over a storage bag to Ye Chen.
"What's this?" Ye Chen asked, pulling open the storage bag.
"Cry bombs," Situ Nan grinned. "Didn't they say you need Chu Xuan Shishu to shed a tear for you? One basket of these, and it'll be more than a drop—maybe a whole basinful."
"There's more good stuff." Ye Chen reached in and grabbed one.
These so-called cry bombs were basically eggs, about the size of chicken eggs, looking like smooth black stones.
"Will this work?" Ye Chen examined it from every angle.
"If not, we've got backups." Xie Yun handed over another bag.
"What's this now?" Ye Chen tucked away the cry bombs and took the bag Xie Yun offered.
"Special-made pepper powder—guaranteed better than any divine artifact," Xie Yun said with a sly wink, his laugh downright lecherous.
"Here, my turn." Xiong Er shoved over another storage bag, chuckling. "Pepper spray, plenty to go around."
"You three are really my brothers!" Ye Chen exclaimed in amazement.
"Come on, let's test the power." The three crowded to the window, using a stick to prop it open.
Situ Nan tossed in a basket of cry bombs, Xie Yun sprinkled in a bag of pepper powder, and Xiong Er poured in a jar of pepper spray.
Once done, they shut the window and sealed up every gap on Yu Nü Peak.
Finally, the three gave Ye Chen an OK sign.
"Sure it'll work?" Ye Chen leaned in closer.
"Has to," Xie Yun said, pulling Ye Chen down to sit on the stone steps and passing him a wine flask.
"Just wait—soon she'll come out crying her eyes out."
Xiong Er and Situ Nan sat down too, full of confidence.
"But what if these don't work?" Ye Chen glanced back at Yu Nü Pavilion, sensing something might go wrong.
"Then beat her to tears—with your emperor power, she can't fight back."
"If that doesn't work, just force it—make her cry in bed."
"I think feeding her some Huan Huan San would do the trick."
"Don't you guys feel a chill on your backs?" Ye Chen touched the back of his neck, feeling a cool breeze.
"A chill? Where?" The three turned around together.
What they saw was a crystalline jade hand slapping toward them.
And that was it—the three were sent flying, straight out of Yu Nü Peak, over countless mountains, and beyond Hengyue Zong.
Ye Chen twitched his mouth, watching them soar away.
When he turned back, Chu Xuan was already standing behind him, gracefully poised, surrounded by immortal light with her robes fluttering, untouched by the mortal world.
Her beautiful eyes were still as indifferent as ever—no tears, not even a hint of mist, far from any sign of crying.
"Are you hungry? I'll make you some food." Ye Chen slapped his hands on his backside and stood up with a chuckle, saying no more as he turned and bolted off, his escape posture absolutely domineering.
But Chu Xuan's palm was faster, sending Ye Chen off to join Xiong Er and the others.
Whoa! Long Yi, Long Wu, Xiao Lingwa, and Daozhi, who were just climbing the mountain, all tilted their heads up, their eyes following the direction Ye Chen flew off in.
