Night deepened, and Yu Nu Feng was serene and tranquil.
Ye Chen sat under an old tree, a carving knife in one hand and a small piece of wood in the other, methodically carving.
Xi Yan stood nearby, watching him carve the wooden sculpture. It was beginning to take shape, and it was a carving of her.
"You are the princess of Zhao Guo, and I was the one who brought you into cultivation," Ye Chen said while carving, speaking in a gentle voice laced with weariness and nostalgia, recounting ancient events.
Xi Yan listened quietly, occasionally glancing around.
This Yu Nu Feng was identical to the one in Heng Yue Zong, and it felt incredibly familiar in her eyes.
Yet, she couldn't remember it clearly, only feeling a deep sense of confusion.
At some point, Ye Chen's words faded into whispers until they vanished entirely. Once the wooden sculpture was finished, he drifted off to sleep.
Xi Yan held the carving in her hands. He had put so much care into it that it looked lifelike, capturing her every expression and smile as if she were alive.
Night quietly receded, ushering in a new day.
As dawn broke, a group of people climbed up Yu Nu Feng, led by a burly figure—it was Xiong Er.
"Girl, have you remembered anything yet?"
Xi Yan didn't respond, her expression turning strange as she looked at Xiong Er. What on earth had he been eating to grow so fat?
"I still prefer the playful version of her," Xie Yun said meaningfully. "Just like the Jiuxian of the Di family right now."
"Don't worry, she'll change once she's been with us a while." Situ Nan smoothed his hair. "In her past life, the sweet Xi Yan was turned into a mischievous girl by the three of us."
"This zither is pretty good." Xiao Ling Wa stroked his chin while eyeing the plain zither on Xi Yan's back. "It looks a bit familiar."
"Do you still remember Hu Wa?" The Xuan generation's Shao Yu, Gong Xiao Tian, and Wang Biao crowded around. "Back in the day, he was first and you were second, and he had us all gasping for breath under the pressure."
The group chattered away, but Xi Yan didn't say a word.
In her eyes, the Da Chu Heavenly Court was an incredibly bizarre existence. With fifty million cultivators, it had plenty of domineering bloodlines and an abundance of eccentrics.
The door opened, and Ye Chen stumbled out.
Gong Xiao Tian and the others from the previous generation were quite considerate, stepping forward to support him—if he fell, he might not get up again.
"Shishu, you haven't eaten yet, right? I brought this especially for you." Shao Yu pulled out a steaming roast chicken.
"You didn't put any aphrodisiac in it, did you?"
"I thought about it, but I didn't dare." Shao Yu chuckled dryly.
Ye Chen said nothing, his aged eyes fixed on the distant misty horizon, his brows furrowed and his expression darkening.
He wasn't the only one looking—Xi Yan, Xie Yun, Situ Nan, and everyone in the Heavenly Court were gazing in that direction.
A rumbling sound erupted, shaking the heavens and earth.
Looking into the distance, they saw a demonic immortal mountain descending onto the land, with surging demonic energy rolling and raging wildly.
"The Yuan Gu Mo Zu has been unsealed." The event startled people across Zhongzhou, with many ascending to the skies to observe the void in that direction.
Amid the discussions, another rumble echoed, and the previously calm world trembled once more. This sound came from Beiyue.
Another immortal mountain landed, radiating dazzling divine light that spread in a brilliant halo, covering a hundred thousand li of land.
"The Yuan Gu Shen Zu has been unsealed." Voices rose from various sects in Beiyue, a mix of joy and worry among them.
"And there's more." Many turned their gazes toward Donghuang.
A majestic immortal mountain plummeted from the purple sky, exuding grandeur. Even from afar, faint cries of phoenixes could be heard.
"Has the Feng Huang Zu also been unsealed?" Shocked voices erupted everywhere.
"With this kind of spectacle, it has to be the Feng Huang Zu."
"First the Yao Zu, and now the Mo Zu, Shen Zu, and Feng Huang Zu—all of them are Ye Chen's enemies without exception."
"Four major clans, each with an emperor weapon—the Heavenly Court is in grave danger."
"What the hell are you talking about!" Curses rang out from the Heavenly Court.
"What about the Da Xia Imperial Dynasty, the Divine Hall, Kunlun Xu, Da Luo Zhutian, and the rest? Couldn't at least one of them come back to hold the line?"
"And what about your families? What's going on?" Xie Yun and the others looked toward Long Jie and Nan Di.
"This matter is beyond our control." Nan Di shook his head helplessly. "When our clans return depends on the will of the emperor weapons."
"Great, no allies in sight, just a bunch of enemies showing up." Long Yi and Long Wu grumbled, feeling like cursing.
"How long can the barrier hold?" Ye Chen asked.
"With four major clans and four emperor weapons, at most three days." Long Yi sighed. "That's the limit."
"Hold the defense." Ye Chen said calmly. "After three days, we'll retreat into Tian Xu. As long as we don't reach the final moment, we still have hope. I firmly believe the Da Chu Heavenly Court will endure."
"We believe it too." Long Yi and Long Wu smiled and walked away.
Figures stood in every corner of the Heavenly Court, piles of source stones heaped like mountains, as they worked together to maintain the defensive barrier.
What followed would be a tough battle—four major clans with four ultimate emperor weapons made for an overwhelmingly vast force.
"Who killed my son?" Roars of fury echoed from Zhongzhou, Donghuang, and Beiyue, filled with overwhelming killing intent.
These were the Mo Zu's Demon Emperor, the Feng Huang Zu's Saint Lord, and the Shen Zu's God Emperor. Like the Yao Zu's Demon Emperor, they had learned of their heirs' deaths but were unable to unseal their clans prematurely due to self-imposed seals.
Now that they had returned, they demanded retribution. No matter who the culprit was, they would pay a bloody price and atone with their lives.
"Father, you must avenge the Eighth Imperial Brother!" Feng Xian appeared, rushing into the Feng Huang Zu's grand hall and kneeling with a thud, tears streaming down her face.
"Who did this?"
"It was Ye Chen, it was the Heavenly Court." Feng Xian quickly wiped away her tears. "They are the ones who harmed the Eighth Imperial Brother."
"Ye Chen is still alive? And what is this Heavenly Court?" The Feng Huang Saint Lord was stunned, struggling to process it.
Feng Xian stood up and transmitted a prepared divine sense to the Feng Huang Saint Lord. Afterward, her face twisted into a sinister expression.
The Feng Huang Zu had returned, along with the Mo Zu and Shen Zu. Adding the Yao Zu to the mix, the Heavenly Court's barrier was surely doomed. She had waited for this day and was ecstatic beyond words.
She couldn't wait to see Ye Chen die or the Heavenly Court fall—the bloody scene would be magnificent.
Meanwhile, the Feng Huang Saint Lord reviewed the divine sense, his expression filled with shock. If not for Feng Xian's information, he would never have known so much had happened in the past century, all involving Ye Chen.
"Assemble the troops," the Feng Huang Saint Lord thundered.
"Hold on." An ethereal voice sounded as two ghostly figures entered the hall—it was Chi Yang and Wu Ji.
"Are you two here to stop my Feng Huang Zu?" The Feng Huang Saint Lord snorted coldly, exuding the authority of a saint lord.
"If you want to attack the Heavenly Court, you'd best wait until the Phoenix emerges from seclusion. Otherwise, your entire Feng Huang Zu will face catastrophe."
"No need to wait for the ancestor to emerge—we'll destroy the Heavenly Court today." The Feng Huang Saint Lord roared furiously. "How dare they kill my son? This blood debt must be repaid in blood, and no one can stop it."
"Do you even know what kind of force the Heavenly Court is?" Wu Ji said leisurely. "I advise you to think twice."
"I don't care what it is. Assemble the troops!"
The Feng Huang Saint Lord ignored the objections and strode out of the hall.
Chi Yang Zi and Wu Ji Zi both shook their heads, knowing they couldn't stop the Feng Huang Zu and that the clan wouldn't believe the matters of Da Chu. Only the Phoenix knew the truth.
"You two predecessors aren't helping my Feng Huang Zu, and now you're speaking for the Heavenly Court. What's your reasoning?" Feng Xian sneered at Chi Yang Zi and Wu Ji Zi.
The two glanced at Feng Xian before turning to leave the hall, their aged voices echoing back: "One day, you will pay a heavy price for the mistakes you've made."
"I'm waiting." Feng Xian smiled darkly and followed them out. How could she miss the Heavenly Court's destruction?
