"Attack for me." Yin Zhong's roar shook the Xinghai.
"No mercy, dead or alive." Bai Yue Shengzhu was also bellowing, his voice even louder than Yin Zhong's.
Without needing their orders, the warships from Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao had already locked their cannon platforms onto the area of the Xinghai where Ye Chen and Xiao Lingwa had fallen. Beams of divine light blasted out destructively, one after another.
That section of the Xinghai was churned into massive waves. Xiao Lingwa, still struggling in the water, was instantly swallowed up. The mighty Overlord Dragon, even in the Xinghai, was as helpless as an ordinary person, unable to fight back.
Xiao Lingwa was helpless, swept into the waves and sinking to the seabed, catching a whiff of death.
But at that moment, a golden hand suddenly emerged from the water and pulled him to safety. Amid the dazzling starlight, Xiao Lingwa vaguely made out who it was—it was none other than Ye Chen.
Xiao Lingwa's eyes widened in shock. He could clearly see the magical power flowing through Ye Chen's body and the surging vital energy bursting forth. How could this be someone whose powers were bound? He was completely fine!
Xiao Lingwa was dumbfounded. We both fell into the water, so why am I nearly drowning while you're totally unaffected?
Ye Chen grinned but didn't explain. He took Xiao Lingwa into the Chaos Cauldron and sealed him away in the divine sea.
After rescuing Xiao Lingwa, Ye Chen shot through the sea like a divine beam, heading straight for the warships of Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao. His wolf-tooth club glowed with golden light, gathering immense power to its peak.
On the surface, the nearly five hundred warships from Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao continued their bombardment, as if they wouldn't stop until this part of the Xinghai was utterly destroyed. They were furious beyond measure, each one fighting like they were on stimulants.
"What's going on here?" Passersby on other warships stared in bewilderment at the massive commotion. "Why are Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao acting like this? What are five hundred warships even attacking?"
"An old man like me did a quick calculation—they're probably fishing, planning to haul it back for fish soup." A sleazy old divine stick stroked his beard. "With such a grand setup, I have high hopes for them."
"Don't mislead people." Someone else chimed in. "I heard that Bai Yue Shenjiao and Taiqing Gong just sank a sacred-weapon-grade warship. They're likely bombarding the people who fell into the water right now."
"What a huge grudge! The people are already in the water, and they're still at it. Do they not care about their source stones at all?"
"Attack! Keep attacking for me!" Yin Zhong and Bai Yue Shengzhu ignored the surrounding discussions, bellowing louder than ever, like two mad dogs gone wild.
It wasn't until some time later that the rumbling finally died down.
The nearly five hundred warships from Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao finally ceased fire, hovering in place as they scanned the sea surface. But Ye Chen and Xiao Lingwa never resurfaced.
"They've probably been blasted to ashes." Someone said. "Even if they weren't killed, they'd surely drown."
"That's the price you pay for provoking Bai Yue Shenjiao." Bai Yue Shengzhu said coldly.
"Bai Yue, why aren't you staying quietly on your Bai Yue Ancient Star? Why come to the Xuanhuang Xinghai?" Yin Zhong glanced at Bai Yue Shengzhu. "And with such a massive fleet of ancient warships, no less."
"To be honest with you, elder, we're here specifically to hunt those two down." Bai Yue Shengzhu replied hastily, his expression full of respect, as he condensed all the details into a divine sense transmission for Yin Zhong.
Yin Zhong read the divine sense, and his face darkened instantly. He scolded, "A great sect like Bai Yue Shenjiao, thrown into chaos by two quasi-saints? What have you all been doing?"
"Elder, you must understand—wait!" Before the people from Bai Yue Shenjiao could finish, the calm scene erupted into massive waves, swallowing one of their warships whole.
"What is this?" The people from Bai Yue Shenjiao and Taiqing Gong suddenly changed color. Even Yin Zhong, Bai Yue Shengzhu, and the cultivators watching from afar were stunned, unsure of the cause.
Boom!
While everyone was in shock, a warship from Taiqing Gong inexplicably shattered, pierced from below by a divine beam from the seabed. The beam was so powerful that everyone on board was caught in its aftermath.
"There's a living being in the sea!" Yin Zhong, with his quasi-saint king cultivation, was the first to react and shouted.
No sooner had he spoken than a world-shaking dragon roar echoed from the depths of the Xinghai, majestic and domineering.
Then, the Xinghai surged again as a golden divine dragon burst from the surface, transforming into a blurry human figure in the nine heavens above. The figure was picking his teeth with a toothpick and holding a wolf-tooth club.
Under the gaze of all, the blurry figure gradually took shape—it was Ye Chen.
"This is impossible." Seeing it was Ye Chen, Yin Zhong's eyes bulged in disbelief as he looked up at the sky. He wasn't the only one; Bai Yue Shengzhu, the people from Bai Yue Shenjiao, Taiqing Gong, and the surrounding cultivators were all shocked beyond words.
Everyone knew the strangeness of the Xuanhuang Xinghai. Cultivators below the quasi-emperor level had their powers unconditionally bound here. Not only couldn't they fly, but even swimming was difficult. Yet Ye Chen, a mere quasi-saint, was soaring through the air above the Xinghai.
"I hear you were having a blast earlier." Ye Chen spoke up, pausing to huff on his wolf-tooth club and wipe it with his sleeve. "How about I take my turn now?"
"Attack! Attack for me!" Yin Zhong suddenly raised his sword, pointing it at Ye Chen. Though he didn't know how Ye Chen was ignoring the Xinghai's restrictions, he knew Ye Chen wasn't a quasi-emperor—just a quasi-saint.
At his command, the nearly five hundred warships from both Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao targeted the sky, reactivating their divine might and firing out overwhelming beams.
Ye Chen sneered and used Shrink the Ground to an Inch to dodge instantly. Then, he swung his wolf-tooth club down from the heavens. Ferociously, the club expanded to over a hundred zhang in size mid-swing.
A Taiqing Gong warship was smashed to pieces on the spot, leaving the surrounding cultivators horrified.
"Damn it!" Yin Zhong roared in anger, wildly swinging his killing sword and ordering another assault.
However, despite the numbers and ferocity of the Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao warships, not a single beam hit Ye Chen. His elusive movements made it impossible for the cannons to keep up.
Boom! Bang!
Ye Chen kept striking. Each swing of his club sank a warship, swift and decisive. In just ten breaths, seven or eight vessels were reduced to scrap metal by him.
Screams rang out, mingling with the booms, one wave overwhelming the next, as blood stained the Xinghai.
Now, Yin Zhong's face turned ugly. Ye Chen's strangeness far exceeded his expectations—not just because he ignored the Xinghai's bindings, but also due to his overwhelming combat strength. As a quasi-saint, his power was terrifying enough to turn Bai Yue Shenjiao upside down. Yin Zhong had every reason to believe Ye Chen was a prodigy-level figure.
"Retreat!"
Without hesitation, Yin Zhong gave the order. The enemy could ignore the Xinghai's restrictions, had devastating combat prowess, and possessed elusive movements. If they continued, total annihilation was possible.
He saw it clearly: since the Xinghai couldn't handle Ye Chen, they needed to head to the Xuanhuang Dalu. Only on land could they escape the bindings and fight at full strength.
Thus, the nearly five hundred warships from Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao retreated en masse, burning source stones and accelerating at full speed toward the Xuanhuang Dalu.
"Leaving so soon?"
Ye Chen snorted coldly and gave chase, smashing the rearmost warship to bits.
Even so, neither Taiqing Gong nor Bai Yue Shenjiao dared to engage. They fled desperately, each one pushing their limits.
Behind them, booms echoed continuously, with a warship sinking every time.
This was a terrifying sight—utter lawlessness in the Xuanhuang Xinghai, where nearly five hundred warships were being chased and attacked by a single quasi-saint. Just witnessing it was frightening.
"Who the hell is that guy?" The surrounding cultivators piloted their ships to follow. "He ignores the Xuanhuang Xinghai's bindings, and his power is ridiculously strong."
"The myriad realms of the heavens are full of oddities. That guy's just one of the freaks."
"A prodigy-level existence."
"I've cultivated for over two thousand years and never seen anyone so strange. Nor have I seen Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao so utterly embarrassed—five hundred warships getting chased like this. It's pathetic."
"Retreat! Retreat now!" Amid the ongoing discussions, shouts of alarm came from the Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao side, but it couldn't stop warship after warship from being destroyed.
"Damn it!" Yin Zhong erupted in fury again, his aged face twisting into a grotesque mask like a demon's. This was a humiliation, an absolute disgrace. As a quasi-saint king leading nearly five hundred warships, to be chased by a quasi-saint—it was the most embarrassing thing he'd experienced since starting his path.
Ye Chen ignored Yin Zhong's roars completely, gripping his massive wolf-tooth club as he pursued and slaughtered. Whenever he caught up to a warship, he struck without a word, fiercely and relentlessly.
"Beat them! Beat them to death!"
Inside the Chaos Cauldron, Xiao Lingwa howled excitedly, watching Ye Chen's rampage. He was thrilled, itching to join in and burst out of the cauldron for a fight.
Boom! Bang!
The Xuanhuang Xinghai grew lively again. The commotion drew even more attention, and when they saw Ye Chen flying through the air, their eyes widened. "Is that guy cheating or what?"
Far ahead, the end of the Xinghai came into view. Even from a great distance, they could make out the towering mountains and lush forests—that was the edge of the Xuanhuang Dalu.
Spotting the other side, Yin Zhong and his group seemed to see hope. The warships, already speeding, kicked up another gear. Once they reached the shore, they could turn and fight back.
They saw it, and so did Ye Chen. His vital energy surged as he shot forward like a lightning bolt.
Yin Zhong could think of it, so could Ye Chen. Once they left the Xuanhuang Xinghai, the situation would change dramatically. Without the bindings, dealing with them wouldn't be so easy.
And so, while Yin Zhong's group raced ahead, Ye Chen pushed himself to the limit.
It was a race against time—who would sink their ships first, or who would escape to the other side.
Glancing at the Taiqing Gong and Bai Yue Shenjiao warships, they were being hammered like animals, reduced to less than a hundred vessels, most of them battered and scarred.
