Chapter 1035: Snow in the Mortal World

Huang Gu Sheng Ti!

Xue Fa Mo Jiang saw the new arrival, and his eyes blazed with astonishment. He abruptly withdrew the halberd he was striking at Hong Chen Xue and stepped into the void, swinging it instead toward Ye Chen.

Get lost!

Ye Chen roared in anger, meeting the heavenly halberd bare-handed.

Boom!

A thunderous explosion echoed, sending Xue Fa Mo Jiang staggering back. Before he could steady himself, he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Ye Chen didn't pursue him but reached out to grab Hong Chen Xue as she fell from the void.

Master... Master!

Hong Chen Xue's eyes, like clear water, were filled with tears. She struggled to lift her bloodstained jade hand, reaching toward the sky, not for Ye Chen, but for her master, Hong Chen.

Her body was dissipating, turning into wisps of mist. In her final smile, filled with the weariness of worldly sorrows, she closed her dimming eyes.

Suddenly, snow began to fall from the heavens, but it wasn't white—it was blood-red. This was Hong Chen's snow, stained with Hong Chen's blood, burying love and tragedy, returning to the heavens as it came from them.

Hong Chen Xue vanished, leaving only Hong Chen's snow. Ye Chen grasped at empty air, his hand holding nothing but melting snowflakes.

Die!

The enraged Xue Fa Mo Jiang attacked from behind, his halberd carving a deep bloody gash across Ye Chen's back.

Ah!

Ye Chen bellowed like a maddened lion, spinning around and shattering half of Xue Fa Mo Jiang's body with a single punch.

Xue Fa Mo Jiang's expression changed as he staggered back. He had believed himself a match for the Mo Jun, and thus for Ye Chen, but now he realized he had overestimated himself and underestimated Ye Chen.

Immediately, he turned and fled, invoking a secret technique that summoned a black river beneath his feet.

Ye Chen flashed forward in an instant, severing the river with a palm strike and dragging Xue Fa Mo Jiang back from it by force.

Kill!

Xue Fa Mo Jiang roared, firing a divine beam from his forehead straight at Ye Chen's life soul.

Roar!

From Ye Chen's sea of consciousness came the sound of a dragon's roar. The Dan Zu dragon soul emerged, devouring the divine beam, while Ye Chen swung his killing sword, decapitating the Mo Jiang.

Ah!

The Mo Jiang shrieked in terror. Even without his head, he wasn't dead yet, frantically fleeing across the void. At his level, as long as his soul remained intact, he could survive.

However, Ye Chen offered no escape. He drew his bow and loosed a thunderous divine arrow.

Thud!

In that moment, Xue Fa Mo Jiang's fleeing head was pierced through and nailed into the void.

Kill! Kill for me!

From outside the city, a Mo Jiang raised his killing sword, pointing toward this side.

Come on!

Ye Chen stood atop Zhong Tian Men, his roar hysterical and heart-wrenching.

His cry echoed through the heavens and earth, shaking the nine skies. The demon soldiers charging forward halted midway, their eyes filled with fear as they gazed at that blood-soaked figure.

In the Tian Mo domain, even the lowest among them were at the Tian Jing level, which they considered mere ants. Yet, since arriving on this vast land, their perceptions had been shattered time and again. The people here were extraordinary—Mo Jun had been slain, Mo Jiang had been slain, pushing them to the brink of mental collapse.

They retreated!

The Tian Mo army withdrew, intimidated by Ye Chen's roar. Whether soldiers or generals, none dared to assault Zhong Tian Men's walls again.

Zhong Tian Men held firm. The demons that had breached it were wiped out completely.

But Da Chu's cultivators paid a bloody price for this.

Ye Chen descended from the walls, witnessing a scene of carnage: corpses littered the ground, and rivers of blood flowed.

Gu San Tong had fallen in battle, taking down a Mo Jiang but being impaled on the wall by a spear.

Wu Ya Dao Ren had also perished, perishing together with that Mo Jiang.

Man Shan, Wu San Pao, and Niu Shi San lay in the arms of their juniors, their souls gravely wounded. Even a Da Luo Jin Xian could not save them now.

Safe travels!

Ye Chen's voice was hoarse as he turned silently and stepped into the void, heading straight for Xi Tian Men.

Before leaving, he glanced back at an ancient tree.

There, Zhuge Lao Tou Er held Fu Ling in his arms. Both were white-haired and aged, their eyes fading as they whispered their last words in this world, each laden with deep emotion.

Ye Chen averted his gaze, his blurred vision showing scenes like those of Hong Chen Xue's final moments—familiar images and figures.

Yet, war was cruel. He had no time to linger or bid them farewell; he needed to rush to Xi Tian Men for reinforcements, knowing more familiar faces would fall there.

Boom! Bang! Boom!

From the direction of Xi Tian Men, earth-shattering roars echoed.

Da Chu's reinforcements had arrived and were locked in a fierce bloodbath with the Tian Mo forces.

From afar, Ye Chen spotted Shangguan Han Yue and Shangguan Yu Er.

Though distant, he could see they were covered in blood, surrounded and attacked by nine Mo Jiang.

Ye Chen's entire body burned with exertion, the pain of his Dao wounds blurring his vision. He madly used Shrinking Earth into Inches, forcefully charging into the void and splitting one Mo Jiang in two with his sword.

You've come!

Seeing Ye Chen, Shangguan Han Yue and Shangguan Yu Er's eyes shimmered with tears. They knew they would die, but seeing him before the end was a blessing from the heavens.

Ye Chen gave a weary smile and suddenly turned, lunging at another Mo Jiang.

That Mo Jiang paled at the sight of Ye Chen and fled rapidly.

Having invaded Da Chu for so long, he knew Ye Chen's fearsome reputation. Even Mo Jun had fallen to him—two of them, no less. If Mo Jun could be slain, what chance did a lesser Mo Jiang have?

But Ye Chen gave him no opportunity to escape. With a step of Shrinking Earth into Inches, he closed in and pierced the Mo Jiang's forehead with his sword, slaying him outright.

The other eight Mo Jiang grimly converged from all sides, their greed for the Emperor's blood making them forget Ye Chen's might.

Die!

The eight Mo Jiang united to activate a Mo Zhong, collapsing the void and staggering Ye Chen even with his strength.

Shangguan Han Yue struck out, her jade hand shrouding the sky and making the Mo Zhong rumble violently.

Ye Chen regained his footing, forcibly withstanding the Mo Zhong's pressure. He summoned the Chaos Divine Cauldron, smashing it into the Mo Zhong and shattering it.

Puff! Puff! Puff!

The eight Mo Jiang vomited blood and retreated unsteadily.

Seizing this precious chance, Ye Chen and Shangguan Han Yue attacked without hesitation. Though Shangguan Yu Er's power was not as great as theirs, she still held one Mo Jiang at bay.

Run!

The eight Mo Jiang looked terrified and fled.

Shangguan Han Yue was swift as a streak of purple light, instantly reaching one Mo Jiang and cleaving him in half with her divine sword before he could even scream.

Ye Chen was even more dominant, obliterating one Mo Jiang with a punch and smashing another's head into a bloody mist with a palm strike.

The remaining Mo Jiang tried to escape but were swept down from the void by the killing formations. Before they hit the ground, Shangguan Han Yue and Ye Chen cut them down.

With these seven Mo Jiang slain, the three turned on the one battling Shangguan Yu Er.

The outcome was inevitable. Under their combined assault, the Mo Jiang's body and soul were utterly destroyed.

With the nine Mo Jiang eliminated, the Tian Mo soldiers assaulting Xi Tian Men posed little threat. Da Chu's reinforcements continued to pour in, surrounding the enemy tightly.

The battle here raged for nearly three days before ending.

They had repelled the Tian Mo assault once more, but Da Chu's cultivators suffered heavy losses.

Build the walls!

From the void, Ye Chen uttered these words and then spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Ye Chen!

Qin Yu!

Shangguan Yu Er and Shangguan Han Yue rushed forward, calling out two names.

I'm fine!

Ye Chen waved them off weakly, his face etched with exhaustion. His powerful Sheng Ti was covered in wounds, constantly tormented by heavenly tribulation and Dao injuries. His combat strength was greatly diminished; if a Mo Jun appeared now, it could end him.

Be careful, Holy Lord!

As Ye Chen gestured, a sudden cry came from below.

He whipped around to see a black war spear shooting in from outside the city, aimed straight at him.

It was a terrifying weapon, or rather, a damaged imperial artifact, wrapped in fearsome lightning and carrying destructive power. It hurtled through the void at incredible speed, intent on nailing him in place.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Everything happened in a flash of lightning. Blood sprayed across the void.

Looking out, the damaged imperial spear had pierced not just Ye Chen, but Shangguan Han Yue and Shangguan Yu Er as well.

Though the moment was brief, everyone saw it clearly: Ye Chen had tried to push Shangguan Han Yue and Shangguan Yu Er away, but Shangguan Yu Er blocked him first, and in the final instant, Shangguan Han Yue shielded her.

Bang!

A booming sound erupted as the damaged imperial spear embedded itself in an eight-thousand-zhang rock wall. Ye Chen, Shangguan Yu Er, and Shangguan Han Yue fell from the void like wilting leaves.

Holy Lord!

Da Chu's cultivators acted quickly, using gentle forces to catch the three.

Why were you so foolish?

Ye Chen staggered to his feet, cradling the two women. He poured his rolling Sheng Ti essence into their bodies, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not save them. The damaged imperial spear was too powerful; without their sacrifice, he would have died.

The two women smiled painfully, their expressions full of tender affection as they reached out with their jade hands toward his tear-streaked face.

Shangguan Han Yue and Shangguan Yu Er, the two princesses of the Shangguan family, lay in the same embrace. Whether it was the god of killing Qin Yu or the Dan Sheng Ye Chen, it no longer mattered.

Ye Chen!

Qin Yu!

A bloody wind blew, and their jade hands slipped away gently. The last flicker in their eyes faded, their faces etched forever into their souls, never to be erased through endless lifetimes.

Ah!

The world fell silent, leaving only Ye Chen's anguished roar. The one who defies heaven is truly a lone star of calamity.
