Chapter 922: If Snow Doesn't Know Spring

“Destroy...?” I smiled bitterly upon hearing that. The motto of “Ji Dao” has always been to protect this place, yet she wants to destroy it.

“It’s all so powerless…” Jiang Ruoxue stared at me with red eyes. “Before I left, I said I would first check the situation there. If I liked that ‘Zhong’ and ‘Hua’, I would take them away. If I didn’t like them, I would let them perish there.”

“Yes…” I nodded. “Isn’t that already a clear plan?”

“But I truly feel so powerless,” Jiang Ruoxue said. “I like the ‘Hua’ and ‘Zhong’, but I can’t take them away. My strength alone is too insignificant. I’ve done everything I can… but it’s all in vain. That place is like a true human hell.”

Jiang Ruoxue described in detail to me what had happened in “Yu Cheng”.

For a city that was already completely diseased, neither force nor intellect had any use anymore. She and the then leader of “Yu Cheng”, Li Siwei, discussed for a long time and finally settled on a plan: to make one disease seem to disappear, the city had to be afflicted with a more severe one.

So they created a “Shen Nü” by hand. This was an existence that surpassed all previous leaders of “Yu Cheng”; she carried a mythical aura, possessed supernatural abilities, and had a wonderful spiritual value that could soothe everyone’s hearts.

But this was a path destined for destruction, for the “Shen Nü” couldn’t lead anyone to escape. All the qualities imposed on her were fake, and when others discovered that the “Shen Nü” was just an ordinary person, they would drag her down from the altar with the most brutal methods.

So that was only the surface plan; the core plan was to save the “seeds”.

For this plan, the “Shen Nü” would lead thousands to their deaths.

“I witnessed that farewell with my own eyes…” Jiang Ruoxue said, her eyes red. “The beliefs of the ‘Hua’ and ‘Zhong’ were shattered all over the ground; they could only move forward by the faint, scattered light. They will never see each other again, so why must good people suffer so much?”

“Ruoxue…” I gently placed my hand on her shoulder, but I didn’t know how to comfort her.

Ever since she left “Tian Tang Kou”, her mood hadn’t been good. She had barely recovered a bit, only to experience the horrors of “Yu Cheng”. I was truly worried about her mental state.

“The villains here are so carefree…” Jiang Ruoxue said, her voice trembling. “They don’t have to be as thorough as we are; they just live for their own interests…”

“Yes,” I nodded. “The more selfish a person is, the better they thrive here, but that’s wrong. If the entire ‘Zhong Yan Zhi Di’ had no selfish people and everyone united, we would have escaped from the very first day we were born here.”

“But that’s impossible…” Jiang Ruoxue said. “There will always be villains, selfish people, cowards, and those who dream of getting something for nothing here. Yet in this damned place, they all live well, while those who stick to their principles end up hurt the most.”

I had no way to refute that.

After all, I’ve been killing indiscriminately in the game lately; I’m just honing my methods and “beliefs”. But for those people, even if they begged on their knees, I would still kill them.

Because my ultimate goal is to “liberate this place”. Even if I show mercy and let them survive in the game, they still wouldn’t be liberated.

“Only those with a grand enough vision can be truly selfless,” I said. “Ruoxue, let’s become that kind of person.”

Jiang Ruoxue lowered her head helplessly after hearing that; I knew all of this was hard for her to accept.

As we were talking, three people suddenly burst in through the door. It seemed like it was getting late, and some people were coming to the building to spend the night.

But these three didn’t look very appealing—one with blond hair, one with green hair, and one bald.

“Hey… there are two beauties here…” The green-haired guy in the lead grinned lewdly. “Looks like us three brothers are in for some luck.”

I ignored the three of them and tried to speak to Jiang Ruoxue in the gentlest tone possible: “Ruoxue, don’t overthink it. At least in my eyes, Yang Ge isn’t that kind of person… and neither am I. Even if we do selfish things, our ultimate purpose isn’t ‘selfishness’.”

“Zhi Chun…” Jiang Ruoxue clutched her hair in pain. “My mind is really a mess… You didn’t see those scenes… Thousands of people were boiled in a huge pot… They died with smiles on their faces, thinking they had ascended… But the one responsible for all this was just a pyramid scheme leader; he only had to move his mouth to lead the whole city toward destruction…”

“Didn’t he get his own retribution?” I said. “Ruoxue… your state of mind is too chaotic right now… It’s not good for you.”

“Beauties! What are you chatting about?”

The blond guy walked right up to me without any sense of boundaries and reached out to pull at me.

The green-haired and bald guys saw this and came over too, all three standing behind me.

My gaze turned ice-cold in an instant. These people were asking for death; I was in the middle of comforting Jiang Ruoxue, and seeing her like this had me in a foul mood.

Did they have to cause trouble at a time like this? I hadn’t killed anyone in three whole days.

I glanced back, and all three had knives at their waists. That might intimidate others elsewhere, but here with me, it was just suicide.

I slowly reached for my own waist, leading the three behind me to draw their knives.

Under their terrified expressions, I brought my hand close to my neck, and they followed suit, pressing their knives to their own throats.

“Ruoxue, I’ll prove it to you with my actions,” I said. “People who do evil in this place won’t meet a good end.”

“Wh-what are you doing, sis?” The green-haired guy asked in terror from behind. “We were just trying to chat. What kind of ability is this?”

“Zhi Chun, I don’t want to be a good person anymore.” Jiang Ruoxue slowly stood up, her expression calm. “I’m really tired. I’m not happy.”

Hearing that, my brows furrowed, and a sharp pain hit my heart.

“Handsome guys,” Jiang Ruoxue said with a carefree smile, “Do you have any alcohol? Can you take me out for a few drinks?”

My hand froze in mid-air, and my resolve began to waver.

“Zhi Chun, let them go,” Jiang Ruoxue said. “If you kill them just for hitting on us, how are you any different from the evildoers?”

After those words, my resolve completely collapsed, and the three men broke free from my control, quickly backing away a few steps.

Jiang Ruoxue stepped forward and linked arms with one of them, then turned back to me with a bitter smile: “Don’t blame me; I just want to make myself feel better.”
