Chapter 814: Can't Stop

“What’s going on?” Chen Jun Nan muttered softly. “Is that guy here for class?”

Seeing those several “participants” thanking Di She and leaving with reluctant expressions, Chen Jun Nan felt his worldview was almost collapsing.

Di She saw off each of these sorrowful “participants” one by one, then gripped the rope in his hand and turned his gaze to the people in front of him.

His eyes swept over Qiao Jia Jin, Chen Jun Nan, and Qin Ding Dong before finally landing on Qi Xia’s face.

But to everyone’s surprise, his gaze lingered on Qi Xia for only two seconds before moving away, as if he didn’t recognize him at all.

“Do you all have some business?” Di She asked. “Are you here to join the game or the ‘Hu Zhu Hui’?”

“Hu Zhu Hui…?” Chen Jun Nan was stunned for a moment.

“Forget I said that,” Di She replied. “Joining the game, right? Wait a moment.”

He slowly stepped out of the shop, casually picked up a small stool by the door, and with the rope in hand, walked toward a dead tree across the street.

That dead tree looked quite old, clearly long dead, covered in dry, cracked patterns with large patches of bark peeled off, and not a single leaf on it.

The bare tree didn’t even make a sound when the wind blew.

Di She walked up to the base of the tree, reached up to toss one end of the rope over a thick branch while everyone watched.

Then he adjusted the rope so it looped over the branch and dangled down. He caught the hanging end, held it, and tied it into a loop.

Next, he placed the small stool under the loop and stood on it, pulling the rope to test it.

“Huh?” Qiao Jia Jin blinked, sensing something was off. “Deceiver… what’s this guy about to do?”

Qi Xia narrowed his eyes at him, feeling puzzled as well.

Qi Xia could understand what these actions meant, but as a “Di Ji Sheng Xiao,” performing them made no sense to him.

But if he rashly went up to ask, would Di She even answer?

At that moment, Qi Xia and Qiao Jia Jin both turned to look at Chen Jun Nan.

“Um…” Chen Jun Nan was staring blankly at Di She, but he quickly felt something was wrong—the other two were focusing on him. “…Um?”

Chen Jun Nan stepped back. “Wait… what? It’s me again? You two, one’s socially anxious and the other’s straightforward—why push me forward every time?”

“Jun Nan!” Qiao Jia Jin put his arm around Chen Jun Nan’s shoulder. “This is the perfect time for you to chat with him! You’re way more approachable than we are!”

Chen Jun Nan felt a bit wronged. He was willing to talk to people, but Di She clearly seemed off. He quickly turned to Qi Xia.

“Old Qi, you think so too?”

Qi Xia nodded. “I have a few questions for him, and it looks like you’re the only one who can keep him steady.”

“Guess I’m fated to deal with ‘snakes’ in my life, huh?” Chen Jun Nan sighed after hearing that. “I finally keep quiet for once, and you two saddle me with the job.”

“Oh, come on, just go!” Qiao Jia Jin pushed Chen Jun Nan forward. “If you run into anything you don’t get, you can ask me! Go, go, go!”

Chen Jun Nan had no choice but to roll up his sleeves. “Fine, I wanted to ask anyway. This guy’s definitely not right.”

Just as the mottled Di She was about to put his head through the loop, Chen Jun Nan stepped forward a few paces and called out: “Hey, hey, hey!”

Di She gripped the rope and turned back. “May I ask what’s the matter?”

“Wait… I’m a bit confused here.” Chen Jun Nan scratched his head. “What are you getting ready for? Hanging a ring to exercise?”

“No, I’m hanging myself.” Di She answered. “Please step back a bit.”

The answer was so blunt that it left the four of them even more baffled.

“Uh…” Chen Jun Nan slowly approached Di She. “Hold on… this is just weird, buddy. Are you in some kind of trouble? Spill it so we can… I mean, so we can comfort you! Who’s the doctor that suggested hanging yourself?”

“No, it’s not a doctor’s suggestion.” Di She shook his head sadly. “I’m just too heartbroken. All I want to do is hang myself.”

At that moment, Qi Xia furrowed his brow, feeling the situation was as absurd as Chen Jun Nan said.

Was it because Di She had seen him that he was acting out like this?

But Qi Xia quickly dismissed that idea. When Di She came out of the room, he already had the rope in hand, and he hadn’t seen Qi Xia yet, so he must have planned to hang himself from the start.

Before meeting this snake, Qi Xia had assumed all “Sheng Xiao” valued their lives, but now even he couldn’t figure out the motive of one preparing to hang himself on the street.

And… what was “Hu Zhu Hui”?

“No, buddy…” Chen Jun Nan said with a troubled expression. “Do you really have to hang yourself today? Is there no room for discussion?”

“We can discuss, but I need to hang myself first.” Di She continued. “Would you mind stepping back a little?”

“What’s there to discuss after you hang yourself?” Chen Jun Nan boldly grabbed Di She’s arm. “Buddy, show a bit of restraint. Can we ask a few questions first, then help you hang yourself? Doing it yourself is so tiring!”

“Ask questions?” Di She’s expression finally changed. “May I ask if you have a referrer?”

“Referrer…?” Chen Jun Nan turned back to Qi Xia for help.

Qi Xia thought it over in his mind. He had found Di She based on that map, so was the so-called “referrer” Qing Long?

But to prove it, Qi Xia would have to show the map to Di She entirely, which probably wasn’t a good idea.

Seeing no one responding, Di She asked again: “Did someone else refer you to the ‘Hu Zhu Hui’?”

“Ah… oh!” Chen Jun Nan nodded as if he understood. “You mean the referrer for ‘Hu Zhu Hui’…?” Hey, I thought it was…

“Your expression says you don’t have one. Goodbye.” Di She pulled the loop over his head to put it on.

“Hey, hey, hey!” Chen Jun Nan quickly grabbed him. “Old… Old Qi… I can’t talk to this guy… You think of something fast!”

Qi Xia stepped forward after hearing that and asked: “So, you can’t get into your ‘Hu Zhu Hui’ without a referrer?”

Di She turned back, stared into Qi Xia’s eyes for a long time, and replied: “That’s right.”
