Chapter 724: The Final Holy War

On the first night of the next cycle, I stood before Siwei Jiejie with a dagger in my hand. If I could kill her here, everything would be better, right?

This was my first time killing someone, and my whole body was trembling.

I wanted to protect her, so I had to kill her. Could someone tell me if this idea was right or wrong? Why had I never heard of anything like this before?

It didn't matter, as long as it brought Siwei Jiejie's "thoughts" back. For me, nothing else mattered.

If she could forget all of this, it would be the happiest thing for her.

I was probably stuck in this "prison" forever. I was waiting to die, but Siwei Jiejie was different. As long as this swallow had never seen the "Happy Prince," she wouldn't stay here.

Whether it was Wan Bobo, or me, or this family, or everything that had happened over the years—I couldn't forget it, but she could.

I didn't know what sins I had committed in the real world, but here, I was about to commit an unforgivable crime. I wanted to kill Siwei Jiejie, the one who loved me most in this place.

Before, I had always been waiting to escape from here. Now, I realized I could never get out, so it didn't matter if I killed someone. Let the memories of Siwei Jiejie and me become the deepest secret in my heart forever. It would be enough if only I remembered.

As I held the dagger close to her neck, her scent suddenly changed, and then she opened her eyes.

In the silent night, her eyes were exceptionally bright, shining with an unusual light as she stared at me. A terrifying aura emanated from her, and I couldn't even name the scent.

“Sis… Siwei Jiejie…”

“Siwei Jiejie, don't be afraid… I will kill you… Everything will be fine…”

“There's no need.”

“Put the knife down and go to sleep.”

“But Siwei Jiejie, you…”

I held the knife, my whole body shaking. I knew that only by killing her could I resolve everything; otherwise, the next time she opened her eyes, she would be someone else.

“I will handle all of this.”

“What…?”

“I've thought of a way. Let me take care of everything.” She gave a bitter smile. “Yingxiong, I've found a method to free both of us.”

“Really?”

“Really.” Siwei Jiejie nodded. “Soon… you can ride your bicycle wildly through the streets. You can shout and yell with joy, do all the things an eight-year-old wants to do, and no one will control you anymore.”

“Siwei Jiejie…”

She smiled and gently touched my head. “Yingxiong, remember, no matter how foul my scent becomes, I could never want to harm you.”

“Okay.”

“So, all we can do now is wait.” She said, “We just need to wait for an opportunity, and then I can make the change.”

“What opportunity?”

“A chance given to us by Zhou Zhenglong.”

Later, even though we didn't leave the room, we could feel that Zhou Zhenglong's tyranny was changing everything. He established an enforcement team dedicated to violent law enforcement and made large-scale revisions to the "family rules."

At first, the family members who came to me for judgment in the mornings started showing injuries on their faces, but their scents were still only "qingxiang."

Then, the number of people I needed to "judge" every morning decreased, and the scents of anger on those who remained grew stronger.

Each time, Siwei Jiejie would step forward, using her abilities to heal their injuries, and then whisper a few words of comfort in their ears.

Those she comforted always had their angry scents fade a little, only to return the next day with even stronger anger.

Was the era that Wan Cai mentioned really coming?

He said that after the "order era" came the "chaos era," but Gu Yu Gege and Siwei Jiejie had managed to unite what should have been a chaotic era into the "hero era." However, the third era would never change.

The "collapse era" was coming.

On a certain ordinary night, shouts and sounds of fighting erupted outside the prison. A rebellion had begun.

Siwei Jiejie told me that if force could rule this city, then force could also overthrow it.

Outside, various "qingxiang" voices and the noises of brawls mixed together, while Siwei Jiejie and I sat expressionless in the corner, quietly listening to the chaos without saying a word.

Was this the so-called "opportunity"?

But I worried that "Yu Cheng" would just get a new ruler, and we would still be the prince and the swallow.

As I expected, Zhou Zhenglong won the first few uprisings, and all those involved in the rebellion were tied up and sent to the execution grounds under Xingguan Jiejie.

Over two years, countless resisters emerged, but the result was that nearly half of them were executed. The number of people I needed to "judge" daily kept decreasing. Siwei Jiejie said they had no time for anything else now; as soon as they arrived, they formed factions and engaged in war and slaughter. As long as they could drag people to the execution grounds and force them into desperate gambles, they could permanently weaken their opponents.

But I always felt something was off. These people knew they couldn't beat Zhou Zhenglong, so why did they keep charging to their deaths wave after wave?

Finally, on a night when I was on the verge of despair, the small door to our storage room was smashed open. The light from the bonfire outside pierced into the room, stinging my eyes.

“We've saved Yingxiong and the Shengnu!!” a woman shouted back. “We've won!!”

A group of people rushed in, pulling Siwei Jiejie and me, who looked half-dead, outside. They were all injured, but they were shouting and cheering like madmen.

Siwei Jiejie held my hand and whispered to me, “In this diseased city, brainwashing and force are unstable forms of rule. Only faith is.”

She let go of my hand and walked alone into the crowd, then raised her arm and shouted, “The holy war has triumphed!!”

The crowd echoed her: “The holy war has triumphed!!”

I felt like I didn't know Siwei Jiejie anymore. Now… what was the difference between her and Wan Cai?

Surrounded by the family members, she ascended to the new throne. She raised her arm, shouting about the "holy war" and worshiping "Yingxiong," but now I knew she was the one in power. She was another Wan Cai.

After Wan Cai, Zhou Zhenglong, and countless rulers, it was finally Siwei Jiejie's turn.

What would the days ahead be like?

Siwei Jiejie stood in the great hall, surrounded by countless people. As she gently pointed toward me, the crowd came forward, lifted me up, and tossed me into the air.

I was thrown up and down with the cheering crowd, over and over without stopping.

I turned my head to look at Siwei Jiejie. She was expressionless, her scent foul.

And my heart, like my body, soared into the sky with the "holy war" victory, only to plummet into the valley with her rule.
