Chapter 708: The Verdict on Uncle Wan

“Then what about the last stage?” Siwei Jiejie asked.

“The last stage is the ‘Binghuai Shidai,’ where an extremely strong order will bring about an extremely strong backlash,” Wan Bobo said. “I’ve already foreseen the future of collapse.”

After hearing this, Siwei Jiejie sighed. “Even if this place really ‘collapses,’ it’s all because of what you’ve done.”

“Is that so?” Wan Bobo stood up and looked at us coldly. “You could have stopped me, but you all tacitly allowed me to develop this family to where it is today, didn’t you? Besides, you’ve always been by my side. We’re in this together.”

“Did the hero and I have a choice…?” Siwei Jiejie said through gritted teeth. “We were assigned to the same room as you… Everyone in that room was brainwashed by you. How were we supposed to leave?”

“You can only blame Zheng Yingxiong himself,” Wan Bobo said. “Who made him a ‘Ling Xiu’? And you, Xiao Li, you’re like ‘Pi Fu Wu Zui, Huai Bi Qi Zui.’ As long as you stick with Zheng Yingxiong, your fate was sealed today. No one else is to blame.”

The scent from Siwei Jiejie was filled with intense anger, but I knew she couldn’t do anything.

From the moment Wan Bobo set foot on this land, she had no way to stop him.

“Wan Ge…” Siwei Jiejie’s voice softened. “Since you’re about to leave, could you at least tell them that the hero no longer has the ability? Ask them to let us two go?”

“Ha…” Wan Bobo leaned down and whispered, “Xiao Li, I suggest you don’t try that. Once those crazy ‘family members’ find out that Zheng Yingxiong is no longer useful, their attitude will be more dangerous than anyone else’s.”

In the next second, a cold scent emanated from Siwei Jiejie—that scent was called ‘despair.’

“You must have thought of it, right?” Wan Bobo said. “They revere Zheng Yingxiong like a ‘Shen,’ making him sniff their scents every morning has become their only obsession. Now you want me to tell them this ‘Shen’ has turned into a ‘person’? I’ve always been living on the edge, but I won’t touch a blade that dangerous—they’d tear me to pieces.”

Siwei Jiejie swallowed hard and said, “So, no matter whether you escape from here or not… the hero little brother is already trapped and can’t leave.”

“Do you think that’s something I should care about? Xiao Li, I’m leaving.” Wan Bobo reached out and patted Siwei Jiejie’s shoulder. “Welcome the collapse.”

“Wan Cai…” Siwei Jiejie called out to him, her tone ice-cold.

“What?”

“Did you come here in the middle of the night just to threaten us?”

Wan Bobo scratched his head and replied, “How did I give you that impression? I just felt like I was about to leave, so I wanted to tell you as much as possible how to survive here. Consider it some life advice.”

With that, he walked out of the house and vanished into the night.

That night, I huddled against Siwei Jiejie in the corner of the wall. The room wasn’t cold, but she felt icy.

I didn’t know how to warm her up.

The clean scent on her kept changing—sometimes murky, sometimes vicious.

One ‘thought’ after another emerged from her, only to dissipate.

I was afraid of this feeling; I always thought she might turn into someone else the next morning.

When dawn broke, as soon as Siwei Jiejie and I opened our eyes, we heard chaos outside.

She pulled me and hurried downstairs, only to find a crowd gathered in the basement level’s safe room.

I smelled a scent of unease. Siwei Jiejie held my hand and pushed through the crowd to the front.

Wan Bobo was kneeling on the ground, staring at the massive safe in front of him.

I remembered that safe was always used by him to store ‘Yu,’ but now it was empty inside.

“This… this…” Wan Bobo knelt in front of the safe, his whole body trembling.

“Stop with the ‘this’!” a ‘Duizhang’ said. “Wan Ge! Where’s all our ‘Yu’?! Didn’t you say you’d keep it for us and distribute it?”

Wan Bobo turned his head, his eyes bloodshot. I could clearly smell the scent of ‘fear’ on him.

“I get it… Someone must have stolen the ‘Yu’! Who? Who has that much nerve? Don’t they care about the ‘Jiagui’?!” His voice was tense, on the verge of cracking. “Aren’t you afraid of the ‘Jiagui’?!”

But everyone was silent; no one spoke.

I could smell that the scents on him were now filled with ‘nervousness,’ ‘fear,’ ‘unease,’ and finally a touch of ‘despair.’ He was about to stop thinking.

“Wan Ge, you’ve always been the one managing the ‘Yu,’” a Duizhang aunt said coldly, and a ‘killing intent’ appeared on her.

After her words, the same ‘killing intent’ emerged on everyone.

“Yeah, weren’t you the one in charge?”

“We trusted you so much to let you handle all the ‘Yu’!”

“Did you swallow the ‘Yu’ for yourself?”

“H-how is that possible?!” Wan Bobo suddenly stood up and said to the crowd, “Am I an idiot? If I really wanted to take the ‘Yu,’ why would I bring you all here this morning to distribute it?!”

“Then where’s the ‘Yu’?” The Duizhangs pressed on, giving him no chance to explain.

Facing the empty safe, anything he said seemed pointless.

“How would I know?!” Wan Bobo said. “Don’t you believe me? If I wanted to take it, I could have done it ages ago—why wait until now?!”

Just as everyone started to hesitate, Siwei Jiejie spoke up: “That’s because the ‘Yu’ has now reached the amount needed for one person to escape.”

“Xiao Li…!” Wan Bobo glared at her. “You… I see, it’s kick him when he’s down, huh? Damn it…”

Wan Bobo couldn’t stay calm and tried to lunge at Siwei Jiejie, but the uncles who usually protected him held him back.

“Wan Ge, did you really take the ‘Yu’?” those uncles asked.

“Have you all lost your minds!?” Wan Bobo roared. “Even if I wanted to take it, I wouldn’t let everyone know!”

“But only you know the code to that safe,” the uncle said.

“I… I…”

The ‘killing intent’ from the crowd overflowed, engulfing the entire floor.

The people who once trusted Wan Bobo the most tied him up tightly and dragged him to the plaza outside the office building. What awaited him was the judgment rule he himself had set.

Was Wan Bobo going to disappear too?

When that thought crossed my mind, I felt no discomfort, but the scent on Siwei Jiejie beside me grew even stronger.

Instead of taking me to watch the execution, she pulled me back toward the room.

“Hero, I’ll protect you,” Siwei Jiejie said.

“Protect me…?”

“Yes.” Siwei Jiejie turned to look at me, her eyes full of determination. “I won’t let the ‘Hunluan Shidai’ happen. Since we can’t change the situation, we’ll just have to keep using these people.”
