Chapter 490: Bone Setting

“Xiao Hai Er…” Chen Jun Nan asked with some worry, “How long can your ‘Hui Xiang’ persist?”

“Very long…” Jiang Shi replied, “If my belief is strong enough, it could even last an entire day.”

At that moment, Chen Jun Nan felt a bit relieved, since they didn’t have to worry about time constraints anymore. Now, it was just a matter of whether Di Tu would give up on this killing spree voluntarily.

Jiang Shi hugged his own head as he faced Di Tu, leaving the towering Di Tu momentarily without any strategy.

This kid wouldn’t die even if his head was off… So, would any other methods even work?

“Beg for death.” Jiang Shi’s head in his hands slightly opened its mouth, “Demon, why did you stop?”

Hearing this, Di Tu steadied his mind again and extended his leg, as thick as a stone pillar, to kick Jiang Shi in the abdomen. Jiang Shi, having lost his normal vision, misjudged the kick slightly. Hugging his head, his whole body was sent flying, slamming straight into the wall next to Chen Jun Nan.

The skinny Jiang Shi was like a poster, hanging on the wall for a moment before slowly sliding down to the ground. This time, the sound was even more ominous; cracking noises came from his body continuously—something that would be fatal for anyone else.

Was there really someone in this world who could keep getting beaten by a Di Ji Sheng Xiao and not die?

“Oh my gosh…” After landing, Jiang Shi’s head rolled to the side. His body trembled a few times, and from his head, he coughed out several unrecognizable objects. “Cough, cough… That hurts so much…”

Chen Jun Nan frowned at Di Tu and shouted from a distance, “Hey, Brother Di Tu, how about we set a time limit? I’ll give you thirty more seconds. If you can’t finish him off by then, we’ll call it your loss.”

“Loss? Why would I hold this ‘Peng Lai’ if I were to show mercy to the ‘participants’?” Di Tu sneered, “The Eight Immortals had to display their divine powers to cross the sea, and you all will naturally unleash your ‘Hui Xiang’ to survive. It makes no difference to me. I’m just an icy sea intent on claiming your lives.”

“You’re full of it…” Chen Jun Nan knew Di Tu had no intention of giving up, but he wondered when this beating would ever end.

Would they have to beat Jiang Shi until he couldn’t move at all?

“You… close the door…” Jiang Shi propped himself up with one hand, struggling to lift his upper body, while his head nearby added, “I look way too pathetic like this. No need for anyone to see.”

“You…” Chen Jun Nan pursed his lips, slowly squatted down, and peered through the door at Jiang Shi’s head on the side. “Xiao Hai Er, how about you just admit defeat? Let that old guy go chase Xiao Song for a bit.”

“No…” Jiang Shi picked up his head from the side and said, “The attacks from the ‘Sheng Xiao’ are way fiercer than I imagined… Qi Ge probably can’t hold out… Among everyone here, I’m the only one who can…”

Before he could finish, Jiang Shi’s head spurted out a large mouthful of fresh blood, mixed with fragments of shattered organs.

“Oh no, oh no…” Jiang Shi controlled his body to wipe his mouth, then placed his head aside and fiddled with the organs on the ground. “Make sure you note what I’ve lost… I’ll have to tell Wu Ge later… If I lose anything, I’m done for.”

“Xiao Hai Er…” Chen Jun Nan rubbed his forehead and said, “How about this—you toss your head over here first? That way, no matter what happens to your body, at least your head will be safe. I can get Xiao Qian Dou to reshape your flesh when we get back.”

“No way!” Jiang Shi’s eyes widened instantly, “The body, hair, and skin are gifts from one’s parents—how can I abandon my own flesh?”

“Huh?” Chen Jun Nan was completely out of ideas, “You’re pretty stubborn, huh?”

“Just close the door already.” Jiang Shi tried to get up from the ground, but something felt off—his leg hurt badly, as if it had completely lost sensation.

Chen Jun Nan quickly noticed something was wrong: “Xiao Hai Er, what’s going on with you?”

“It seems I got beaten a bit too hard…” Jiang Shi gave a bitter smile, placed his head on the ground to use as eyes, then flipped his body over and used those eyes to check his right leg. Soon, he exclaimed in surprise, “Oh no! My right leg is fractured! This is such a headache… Wait, where’s my head?”

Jiang Shi fumbled around in panic for his head, only then remembering it had been knocked off earlier.

Chen Jun Nan didn’t know what to say anymore. He’d seen all sorts of people in the ‘Zhong Yan Zhi Di’, but nothing had ever left him this speechless.

“Leg… the leg’s broken…” Chen Jun Nan finally broke the silence, “You, kid, why don’t you just lie down and rest? I told you this game is all about being aggressive, but you can’t go that far…”

“No, no, no…” Jiang Shi’s hands kept feeling around his back, “I’m not being aggressive—I think my leg is just dislocated… It should be fixable… You… just wait a second…”

Jiang Shi awkwardly reached out to touch his right leg, pinching the skin around the fracture. His head nearby grimaced in pain from time to time. The situation was so bizarre that even Di Tu in the room fell silent.

After a short while, Jiang Shi’s head took a deep breath, and then his hands gripped the broken leg bone and twisted it hard with a scream.

Then, his right leg went completely numb.

Chen Jun Nan had seen people set their own bones on TV before, but he’d never heard anyone scream like that.

“You… how is your bone-setting like slaughtering a pig? Are you really okay?” he asked.

“Oh no…” After screaming, Jiang Shi’s head on the ground widened its eyes, “What do I do now… Oh my gosh… I twisted it the wrong way…”

Chen Jun Nan covered his eyes, feeling too embarrassed to watch.

“What the… what on earth…” he said anxiously, “Do you even understand joint structure…? What do you mean by ‘twisted the wrong way’…?”

“I could’ve twisted it right!!” Jiang Shi replied anxiously, “But this is my first time getting my head knocked off, so now everything about my body looks reversed… Oh no, oh no, what am I gonna do?”

“How should I know!!”

“Maybe I’ll twist it again… just hold on…” Jiang Shi reached out to find the misplaced section of his leg bone.

“Forget it!”

Chen Jun Nan was about to argue with Jiang Shi through the door, thinking that this so-called “immortality” was even less reliable than “substitution.”

“Oh, right, about that crutch…” Jiang Shi, unable to turn his head, used his head on the ground to glance sideways at Chen Jun Nan, “Isn’t this the ‘Ba Xian Guo Hai’? Do we have Lu Dong Bin’s crutch? I just need something to stand on, and I can keep fighting…”

Chen Jun Nan pulled a small, all-black hair pin from his pocket—it was about the size of a chopstick, with bits of dark mud on the top.

“Xiao Hai Er, will a mini version work?”
