Chapter 407: The Upper Class

Everyone was at a loss. No one would have thought that simply walking down the street could lead to an encounter with Tian She.

Almost all games involving earth snakes and ground snakes inevitably include "question and answer" elements, so it seemed Tian She was undoubtedly an expert in them.

Could they escape this predicament just by asking him questions?

"I have one last question…"

Zhang Chenze’s eyes turned cold as she spoke. "If you know the answer to this one, then I'll accept it even if you kill me."

"Go ahead," Tian She sneered. "As long as your question has an answer, I absolutely won't be unaware of it."

Zhang Chenze took a deep breath and, mimicking Lin Qie's style, closed her eyes and said, "I have a colleague who goes to the hot pot restaurant downstairs from the office every Monday to eat alone. He loves the Huang Hou and Hao Er Yu there because the shop gives them such interesting names. May I ask what these two dishes are called at this restaurant?"

As soon as she said this, the people around her were all stunned.

"Hmm…?" Tian She was slightly taken aback. Although he heard every word of the question clearly, he couldn't understand it at all.

"What is Huang Hou…?" Tian She asked. "And Hao Er Yu…?"

"Five-second countdown," Zhang Chenze continued, eyes still closed.

The air froze for five seconds in front of everyone, and Tian She couldn't say a word.

"You see…" Zhang Chenze opened her eyes and said, "There are things even you don't know… so you have no right to decide our lives, right?"

"This question is made up, isn't it?!" Tian She looked into Zhang Chenze’s eyes, and after a few seconds, he realized he had miscalculated—this question actually had a real answer.

Tian She's face grew increasingly cold, and his pale features began to tremble.

"I must have you as my assistant…" He glanced at the two corpses beside him and said, "You're far superior to them…"

"No," Zhang Chenze replied calmly, "each of us has knowledge that you don't know. If you want to become more learned, then don't kill people so lightly."

Tian She looked into Zhang Chenze’s eyes again, his lips twitching. "You're not deceiving me?"

"No, I don't like to lie," Zhang Chenze said.

"How strange…" Tian She stepped closer to her, extending a cold hand to her neck. "Every time I appear, everyone lies to me… but you don't?"

The icy, blood-stained fingertips touching Zhang Chenze’s neck made her shudder slightly.

"Your experiences are so peculiar…" Tian She stared at Zhang Chenze’s eyes with a strange expression. "You're so knowledgeable… yet your family is so ignorant? Can you really tolerate your own life like this?"

"I'm different from you," Zhang Chenze answered. "There are indeed many ignorant people in this world, but I don't want to make them all learned—I just need to be myself."

She thought about her absurd life.

To escape that devouring mountain village, she was constantly learning new things to improve herself, and unexpectedly, it came in handy at this moment.

"That makes sense."

Zhang Chenze suppressed her fear and said, "I like people who reason things out. You won't kill us for no reason, right?"

After a long pause, Tian She finally withdrew his hand.

"You're right," he nodded. "I hate being lied to more than anything in my life. Since you didn't lie and you're so knowledgeable, I have no reason to kill you… Now, tell me where that person called Chen Jun Nan is, and I'll let you go."

Lin Qie and Yun Yao hesitated upon hearing this. Among the group, only the two of them knew Chen Jun Nan's exact location, and only they knew where the "Cat" was.

"Do you have a connection with that Chen Jun Nan?" Tian She asked. "Are you willing to die for him?"

"Of course not, I can tell you his location," Lin Qie said.

"Hey… are you serious?" Yun Yao whispered. "Qi Xia and the others are there too."

"There's no other way…" Lin Qie whispered back. "Even if we don't say, he can still read our thoughts. So, we might as well trade for our lives."

From her earlier observations, Lin Qie had noticed that Tian She had a strange obsession—he liked intelligent people.

In other words… if they led him to Qi Xia, Qi Xia probably wouldn't die.

Since even Zhang Chenze could think of a strategy on the spot, Qi Xia certainly could too.

Besides, the "Shuang Sheng Hua" was there, so even if a Tian-level "Sheng Xiao" tried to act, they would have to think twice.

"Look into my eyes," Lin Qie said. "The 'Cat's location is in my memory."

Tian She stared into her eyes for a long time, then suddenly widened them.

"In your eyes, it's not just the 'Cat's location… there's also a scene of me clashing with the 'Cat'… You're planning to send me to fight that person called Qian Wu?!"

"What…? No…"

He immediately lunged at Lin Qie, his hand thrusting straight for her heart. "How dare you play mind games with me!!"

Lin Qie was startled; she had never dealt with someone like this and had no idea of his ability's limits.

Just as Tian She's hand was about to pierce Lin Qie's heart, a massive and powerful gust of wind suddenly blew in, making everyone stagger.

Tian She was the first to steady himself and turn around, only to see a gaunt old man standing behind him.

The man was on his tiptoes, his body leaning forward in a bizarre arc, his face almost pressed against Tian She's.

"You…" Tian She stepped back, adjusting his glasses.

"A whiff of 'Sheng Xiao' stench…" The old man bared his single remaining tooth, his expression oddly twisted as he said, "Though this isn't my business… what gives you the nerve to kill participants out in the open on the street? Who do you think you are?"

"You… who are you…?" Tian She hadn't felt such pressure from anyone in a long time; this old man gave him an odd feeling.

"How strange…" The old man fixed his dry, yellow, and cloudy eyes on Tian She. "You've clearly broken the rules… yet no one has interfered? The balance here is so delicate… breaking it would lead to endless trouble."

Tian She stared back at the old man, but alarmingly, he couldn't read any thoughts from him.

This old man didn't seem human; his mind was just a void of darkness, like a thoughtless stone.

"You… you're a 'Shen Shou'?" Tian She asked, stunned.

After all, only a "Shen Shou" would dare speak to a "Tian-level" like this, and among the four "Shen Shou," the only one he hadn't met was "Bai Hu."

"I am indeed 'Bai Hu'," the old man slowly straightened up. "Which family's 'Sheng Xiao' are you? And under whose orders are you killing people?"
