It was impossible to count how many times Qi Xia had raised his hand in this place to probe something.
He had long lost track of how many years he had been drifting in this void space.
Perhaps a dozen years, or maybe several decades.
To calm himself down, Tian Long began to follow Qi Xia's example and reflect on his own life.
What was even more despairing was that for the past seventy years, he had been doing almost the same thing over and over.
That was "li xi" and "ru meng."
Once upon a time, he had thought such days were dull enough, but compared to life in this space... they seemed incredibly rich and varied.
There were so many different people to disassemble, so many bizarre dreams to invade—what reason was there to find it dull?
Just as Tian Long was gradually slipping into a daze, Qi Xia moved again.
Tian Long was used to it by now and didn't pay much attention. He simply watched as Qi Xia raised his hand and stroked something in the air.
But in the next second, something in the air responded to Qi Xia, and a faint light illuminated Tian Long's face.
Tian Long wondered if he had been in this place so long that he was hallucinating. In Qi Xia's palm, there was something that looked alive, wriggling.
"Ha..." Qi Xia finally smiled at that moment, but the smile was clearly unnatural, filled with endless madness.
Tian Long quickly focused his gaze, trying to make his dulled mind keep up with what was happening.
Sure enough, there was a creature in Qi Xia's hand.
The creature had a round, fleshy body that glowed red like blood and meat. At first glance, it was a strange blob, but it had one eye, one ear, and half a hand.
Its body emitted a faint light, like some deep-sea fish.
But Tian Long was certain nothing like this existed in the real world.
"Ha ha..." Qi Xia laughed as he stared at the creature, just smiling. "Ha ha ha..."
This bizarre laughter made Tian Long think Qi Xia had forgotten how to speak.
"Qi Xia... you..." Tian Long stared at the thing in disbelief. "What kind of madman are you... In a situation like this, the first thing you do is awaken your 'xianfa'..."
Qi Xia's lips moved slightly as he stared at the blob and said:
"Listen to me... Here, you won't fall... You'll float here forever."
Tian Long was stunned. He never expected Qi Xia to start giving psychological suggestions to a monster.
"In the time ahead, I'll work hard to help you grow," Qi Xia said. "Let's work together to escape this place."
With that, he slowly released his hand, letting the blob float away.
Just as Qi Xia had suggested, the small blob stared with its eye and hovered in the air. It didn't fall, and it didn't go far.
It was like a tiny planet orbiting Qi Xia.
Qi Xia lowered his head and began to use his "xin nian." At that moment, the blob suddenly became deformed.
Some other chunks of flesh grew on it, then gradually merged, making its body larger. The light on it grew a bit stronger.
But this space clearly suppressed Qi Xia's abilities. By the time he had used up all his "xin nian," the blob had only grown to the size of a tire.
Qi Xia wasn't discouraged. He simply lowered his head again and emptied his mind.
"Don't..."
Tian Long never imagined that Qi Xia, who had just awakened a few minutes ago, was about to fall asleep again. For a moment, he was utterly panicked.
He felt like an audience member who had waited in line for decades, only for the performance to end far too soon.
The situation was no different from before. The space returned to silence, with no one paying any attention to Tian Long.
But things seemed a little better this time, since there was now a glowing blob with eyes and ears, spinning on its own.
Qi Xia floated in the air, and the blob followed him in its orbit. The sight made Tian Long feel less empty.
It was as if there was a touch of "human presence."
Though this presence would seem incredibly strange anywhere else, in this dark, void space, it was enough to help Tian Long pass the time.
Whether it was because Tian Long was gradually getting used to the isolation or because the blob made things more bearable, he felt that Qi Xia's next awakening would come sooner.
Perhaps in half a year, or maybe four or five months.
He opened his eyes again and continued to channel his "xin nian," directing "sheng sheng bu xi" toward the blob nonstop.
Only now, his expression looked even more deranged than before.
Massive "xin nian" poured into the entire blob, and huge tumors began to sprout all over it.
The sight made Tian Long shudder.
Each massive tumor had its own distinct features, almost like countless human faces growing on the blob.
Every face was screaming and wailing in agony. They couldn't breathe; they were in unbearable pain.
Their appearance turned this void into a real, glowing hell.
Qi Xia listened to the whimpers from the faces and furrowed his brow slightly. He grew new tumors over each face's mouth to muffie their sounds.
With a look of utter madness, he patched and sewed away, until the massive blob grew to the size of a car.
But it looked so grotesque that Tian Long started to feel uneasy about sharing the same space with it.
A huge, glowing mass covered in countless features... like a giant face?
In the days that followed, each time Qi Xia awoke, he became even more deranged than before, and the blob grew explosively.
Until it reached the size of a small building, Tian Long finally understood what Qi Xia was trying to do.
Qi Xia slowly shifted his position and stood on top of the massive blob.
He squatted down and stroked the faintly glowing flesh beneath his feet.
"Since there's no reference point here... we'll create our own," Qi Xia murmured. "From this moment on, you are the world of this space."
After saying that, Qi Xia looked up into the void. He gazed for a long time and whispered, "Still not qualified..."
Tian Long was stunned. He followed Qi Xia onto this tiny world, and at that moment, Qi Xia slowly sat down. After so many years, the two of them could finally feel the existence of "land."
In this strange space, as long as they believed the blob was land, they could stand on it and move freely across its surface.
Qi Xia's state of madness had now reached a level beyond Tian Long's comprehension. Under Tian Long's watchful eye, he sat down right there and entered a trance again.
He knew that since there was no path to escape, he would have to carve one out himself.
No matter how difficult the road, as long as he started, it would lead to an end.
"Qi Xia... is there really no other way?" Tian Long murmured. "What a long road this is..."
Qi Xia lowered his head and muttered to himself, "If you know the path to victory, never take shortcuts."
