Chapter 1260: Confrontation

"Go, quickly go!"Tian Ma flashed to Di Ma's side in an instant."Quickly take me there!"

Tian Shu suddenly felt something was off, because an unusual scent began flooding into his nose.

But before he could voice what he had smelled, Tian Ma had already whisked her away in a flash to a farther location.

"Hey!!" Tian Shu shouted anxiously, "That Di Ma is lying!!"

However, Tian Ma seemed to have lost her senses over the matter with Tian Hu; she was deaf to everything, her face full of urgency as she moved forward, completely ignoring Tian Shu's cries from behind.

"Leader..." Di Shu sidestepped to block Tian Shu's view, positioning himself in front, "If there's anything you need, just tell me, and I'll handle it for you. Do you want me to go find Tian Ma the leader?"

Tian Shu frowned slightly at these words. He glanced around and saw the three "Di Ji" figures positioned around him in three directions, each with a somewhat complex scent.

He knew Di Shu well—this person was slick-tongued and fickle-minded, with an extremely complicated scent as always—but the other two were harder to read.

These two hadn't had such complex scents when they first met, so why had they suddenly changed...?

A sense of unease rose in Tian Shu's heart. Even if he was reluctant to admit it, he had to prepare for the worst...

Suppose these two who had suddenly appeared weren't responding to a "summons" but were instead "rebels" heading to the "Che Tou," what then?

A drop of cold sweat trickled down Tian Shu's forehead. If that were the case, he'd have to fight two "Di Ji" with his injured body, and Di Shu in front of him would likely just stand by and watch.

Tian Shu's eyes darted quickly. He felt the best move now was to temporarily escape this dangerous situation.

Even if those two were really "rebels," it had nothing to do with him. They had been heading to the Che Tou earlier, which meant their target wasn't him anyway.

"Aren't you looking for Tian Hou and Tian Ji?" he said. "They should still be in their room. Go quickly, or you'll be delayed."

The three exchanged glances upon hearing this.

Di Hou looked at Di Ji, and Di Ji looked at Di Shu, but in the end, it was Di Shu who nodded slightly.

Seeing Di Shu's signal, Di Ji and Di Hou stepped back unobtrusively and said, "Sorry to bother you, we'll head out first."

The two left the spot, and Tian Shu turned to watch their backs until they rounded the corner toward the "Tian Ji" rooms, at which point he let out a small sigh of relief.

Now, only Di Shu remained. Even if he was a "rebel," a one-on-one fight wouldn't be a loss for Tian Shu.

"You beast." Tian Shu called out, "Did you just stroll over here without spotting any 'rebels' along the way?"

"You're thinking too highly of me." Di Shu lowered his head, his expression humble as he said, "I can't smell their scent, so I had to come to you for help right away."

"Then tell me about all the suspicious rooms." Tian Shu said as he started walking forward.

"That's great, leader." Di Shu's expression darkened, "I happened to pass by a few suspicious rooms. I'll point them out to you."

The two proceeded warily, soon disappearing into the depths of the corridor.

Not long after, two more figures flashed by in the corridor. Upon closer inspection, it was a white snake and a very large Di Tu.

"Why are you following me?" The white snake asked cautiously as he walked ahead.

"I'm not..." Di Tu shook his head, "I wasn't planning to follow you. How about you walk behind me?"

"Are you going to the 'Che Tou' too?" The white snake asked.

"Sort of." Di Tu paused, then corrected himself, "No, I can't say. What are you going for?"

The white snake no longer cared about what the other zodiac members thought and said bluntly, "I'm going to kill Tian She. What about you?"

Di Tu hesitated at this, then said, "What a coincidence, I'm going to kill Tian Tu."

"Really on the same path?" The white snake chuckled lightly, "Then let's go together."

"Because of 'counterpart killing,' right?"

"No." The white snake shook his head, "Because of a personal grudge."

The two arrived at the "Che Tou" as if nothing else mattered, seemingly hearing the noise from the other "Tian Ji" rooms, but they paid it no mind. The white snake headed straight for Tian She's door.

After a moment, he noticed Di Tu hadn't entered and asked with a hint of suspicion, "What's wrong?"

"Sorry." Di Tu said, "Which one is Tian Tu's room? I've been here so long and haven't seen that person yet."

The white snake nodded in response. He was indeed more familiar with the place, since he often came to Tian She for experiments. After thinking it over, he pointed to a door in the corner: "It should be that one. It's either Tian Zhu or Tian Tu there, and I heard Tian Tu is a woman."

"Okay..." Di Tu nodded and walked toward the door in the depths.

The two stood at their respective doors, glanced back at each other, and then pushed the doors open without any hesitation.

After the white snake pushed open the door, he saw Tian She standing by a table, with a completely naked young woman slowly sitting up in front of him.

The woman had her back to him, and like him, her back was cut with several gashes, each containing an eyeball that moved, evoking a twinge of sympathy in him.

It seemed Tian She had found a new experimental subject.

"Hmm...?" Tian She paused slightly as the door opened, "Who told you to come in?"

The white snake averted his gaze to the floor and said softly, "Teacher, things are chaotic outside. Don't we need to go check it out?"

"Do I need you to remind me...?" Tian She frowned, "When did you become so undisciplined...? You don't even knock before entering my room. Next time I have a new eyeball, I won't test it on you."

The white snake felt a strange sensation stir in his heart at these words.

He reached out, slowly unbuttoning his clothes and removing his suit, followed by his blood-stained shirt.

He kept his eyes fixed on the floor and said quietly, "Teacher, there's something I'm not quite clear on. I hope you can explain it to me."

"Go ahead." Tian She picked up a towel and wiped his hands as he spoke, "What's the issue this time?"

"That young woman has four gashes on her back, each with a 'surviving' eye, right? I didn't see wrong, did?" The white snake asked.

Tian She frowned slightly at this but replied casually, "Yes, so what?"

Xiao Ran sharply sensed that the atmosphere between the two was off. She quickly grabbed her clothes from the side, covered herself, and stepped back.

"But why do I have countless wounds on my back and only one 'surviving' eye?" The white snake slowly turned around, revealing his pale, scarred back.
