Chapter 1153: City of Flesh and Blood

Qiu Shiliu felt that her vision was no longer as obstructed as before, so she moved closer to the crack and examined what was inside carefully.

At that moment, her eyes widened slowly, and she could barely keep her mouth closed.

The enormous, crimson, pulsating object before her turned out to be a towering building made entirely of flesh and blood.

This flesh appeared to have bones within and veins on the outside, twisting and extending upward to form the shape of a high-rise. The dark blue-black veins caused the entire structure to throb gently, as if it had a life of its own.

What should have been windows were now replaced with white membranes, making it look more like some kind of living organism.

"Jiujiu... Jiu..." Qiu Shiliu tried to say something, but her speech seemed trapped by her confused mind. All she could do was raise the "door" in her hand and scan it slowly from bottom to top over the building in front of her.

Bai Jiu frowned as she looked toward Jiang Shi's left eye. The scene was indeed terrifying, but what she could see was too limited compared to Qiu Shiliu's firsthand experience.

"What is this thing?" Bai Jiu asked in a hoarse voice.

"I want to see too..." Jiang Shi noticed Bai Jiu's expression and grew curious about what was in his left eye. "Jiejie... what did Shiliu see?"

"It's a building..." Qiu Shiliu's voice finally returned, transmitting from Jiang Shi's left eye. "Jiejie, it's a massive building made of flesh..."

"No... this thing is too strange..." Bai Jiu said. "Get away from there quickly. We don't know what kind of space that is... You might end up in a completely unknown area."

"I want to see it too!" Jiang Shi said anxiously.

"Okay... Jiejie... this place is really weird. Maybe I should just..."

Before Qiu Shiliu could finish, she let out a sudden "Ouch."

Bai Jiu looked closely and realized that either the crack was unstable or Qiu Shiliu had used too much force—another fragment broke off from the edge she was holding.

Now, even more was visible.

Only then did Qiu Shiliu realize that what was in the crack wasn't just a "flesh building"—it was an entire "flesh world."

Behind the building stood countless other flesh high-rises, along with roads made of bones and people standing motionless in the distance.

Muffled whimpers began to echo from all around, and the sky erupted with a series of massive booms.

"Boom!"

It seemed as if something strange had collided in the sky, the sound so enormous that it made Qiu Shiliu step back half a pace.

A moment later, she heard something land near the crack, but due to her limited view, she couldn't make out what it was.

Soon after, a faint voice came from the crack, mumbling what sounded like two words—"Huangtang."

Before Qiu Shiliu could react to what was happening on the other side, a large mass of flesh started growing wildly near the crack, as if trying to seal it off.

"Wait... wait a minute..."

Qiu Shiliu had no idea what was going on and could only reach out to try to stop the flesh from growing.

What on earth was happening?

Was there someone on the other side?

Were they in danger, or fighting someone?

"Hey, who are you?!" Qiu Shiliu shouted into the crack.

The crack had shrunk to the size of her palm, and even the flesh building in her view was nearly gone.

Qiu Shiliu decided to make one last attempt. She put the "door" in her pocket and started tearing at the flesh with both hands. The sticky, nauseating sensation made her gag, but this was her only chance to figure out what was on the other side.

The more she tore at the flesh, the faster it grew. Chunks of meat began falling from the crack, plunging into the endless abyss below.

About a minute later, suddenly—

A pair of extremely cold hands grabbed Qiu Shiliu's wrists, startling her into a scream.

"Shiliu! What happened to you?!"

"Jiejie... there's someone in the crack! They've grabbed me!!" Qiu Shiliu struggled to stay calm and relayed what she was seeing to the outside.

"Forget it! Just get out of there!" Bai Jiu said.

Qiu Shiliu pulled back, yanking the hands out of the crack.

She noticed that these cold hands had no real strength, making them easy to pull away, but why had they grabbed her in the first place?

The crack was almost completely blocked by flesh now, yet the hands had emerged, almost as if they had grown from the flesh itself—the sight was eerily strange.

Qiu Shiliu looked down and saw that the hands had fair skin and slender fingers, suggesting their owner might be a girl.

Before that thought could fully form, the flesh between the hands began to writhe, as if something was trying to push through.

Realizing something was wrong, Qiu Shiliu quickly withdrew her hands and pulled out the "door" from her pocket, aiming it at the crack.

"Jiejie! Something's trying to come out of the crack. If anything happens to me, remember this: it's the City of Flesh in there. It seems like people live there. I heard fighting and whimpering, but I couldn't make out what they were saying."

"Shiliu, go to the door behind you. If you have to, escape through it right away."

"Okay." Qiu Shiliu nodded, keeping her eyes on the crack while backing away quickly. All the while, she used the "door" to show Bai Jiu the scene.

In the next second, the flesh burst open, spraying blood everywhere, and a head emerged from between the hands.

How logical, yet chilling, was this situation?

The space between the hands must have been the person's body, but why were they forcing their head through the flesh like this?

Taking a closer look, Qiu Shiliu's face turned deathly pale.

Was this even a "human head"?

She had long hair, even with a cute hair clip, and the ends were dyed gold. Her clothes had anime patterns...

But she had no face.

Her entire facial area was just smooth skin.

The hands struggled to push away the flesh, allowing her upper body to squeeze through the crack, and soon her whole body emerged.

Qiu Shiliu's heart pounded wildly, leaving her unsure what to do.

Then she heard the "girl" make a sound—

Muffled, indistinct whimpers.

It felt like something was covering her mouth, preventing her from breathing or speaking.

She was struggling.

But before Qiu Shiliu could say anything to her, the girl plummeted downward like a falling object, vanishing rapidly from view.

A stifled groan echoed from below as she fell, and Qiu Shiliu hadn't even gotten a chance to speak to her before she disappeared completely.
