Chapter 1116: Summoning Gods

Luo Shiyi looked up at Bai Jiu and Jiang Shi on the opposite rooftop.

Then, he extended his index finger and thumb, curved them to his mouth, and blew a sharp whistle.

The two raised their heads and saw Luo Shiyi using sign language from a short distance away.

The meaning of his sign language was clear—"Ji Dao" was going to lose.

The "Ji Dao" mission had two stages, and they were only on the first one. With a team of just a hundred people already suffering casualties, if "Mao" didn't intervene, the entire plan would start falling apart from the very beginning.

Bai Jiu reached up to fiddle with her ponytail, her expression serious as she looked down and quickly spotted Zhou Liu in the crowd, also dressed in black leather.

Zhou Liu was standing in the center of the crowd, turning her head to ask Jiang Ruoxue questions while pressing a hand to her ear to speak, seemingly using "Chuan Yin" to arrange some tactics.

"Six sister hasn't spoken," Bai Jiu said. "I'm still in charge here, so follow my orders."

Bai Jiu signaled "stand by" to Luo Shiyi with her hands.

Luo Shiyi could only shake his head helplessly upon seeing this.

He understood Bai Jiu's concerns well. They were willing to risk their lives for the mission's goals, but not for the sake of "Ji Dao" itself.

Even if the plan failed completely and Bai Hu slaughtered all the "Ji Dao" members single-handedly, the "Mao" team would have to pretend nothing happened and return to the prison to continue their lives.

Bai Jiu had to be accountable not only for the mission but for all the "Mao" members, so she absolutely couldn't order an attack on Bai Hu.

She lifted her head and scanned the pathways around the square. Some time had passed since that enormous sound earlier, and now people were crowding the streets.

It was hard for them to see clearly what was happening in the midst of the windstorm and giant trees, but they were starting to form small temporary groups, seemingly preparing to launch an attack at any moment.

The situation was becoming extremely passive. Theoretically, "Xuan Wu" and "Zhu Que" were responsible for handling violations by the "Sheng Xiao" and the "participants." Now that the "participants" were directly fighting a divine beast, what kind of creature would this slaughter attract?

Why hadn't those two shown up yet?

A vague sense of unease stirred in Bai Jiu's heart. Based on past experiences, no "divine beast" would oversee this kind of slaughter, so would "Xuan Wu" and "Zhu Que" even appear?

Bai Hu, fueled by intense "Xin Nian," used his left hand to control the giant trees and his right to unleash explosive flames, while a fierce wind swirled around him, keeping the nearby hundred or so people at bay.

Since all the "Ji Dao" members were coordinating for the first time, they fought individually and couldn't harm Bai Hu at all.

After another few dozen seconds, various strange "Hui Xiang" continued to emerge. In addition to the raging sandstorm in the sky, rain and thick fog descended, but all these phenomena were scattered by Bai Hu's powerful gusts, leaving the area in complete chaos.

Doctor Zhao, Lin Geng, and Xiao Xiao pushed through the harsh weather into a side street, circling around the square for nearly half its perimeter before approaching the back of the giant bell.

Jiang Shiyi yawned while glancing through the dispersing fog toward them. Since the "Mao" group was positioned high up, they could take in the entire scene below.

Two people were entering the square from the outskirts and were about to collide with Doctor Zhao's group. Jiang Shi was just about to watch the outcome when his view was blocked by a tangle of thick, black wires on a utility pole. Those wires were messily entwined like a massive ball of yarn, with some dangling down to obstruct the street, making it impossible to see further.

The two teams happened to turn a corner and then paused in surprise.

"Han Yi Mo...?" Doctor Zhao said.

"Old Zhao!" Han Yi Mo exclaimed, as if seeing a savior. "You're really here! What on earth is going on?"

Doctor Zhao and Lin Geng looked at the person next to Han Yi Mo, who was Zheng Yingxiong.

It seemed these two had rushed here all the way from the "Cang Jie Qi" site.

"Is it over on your end?" Doctor Zhao asked. "Wasn't it 'Du Ming'...? How did you survive Qing Long? Unless..."

"Don't bring that up!" Han Yi Mo interrupted. "That guy cheated, and now he's fighting Xuan Wu."

"Ah?"

"What's the situation here? It looks like the end of the world..." Han Yi Mo scanned the surroundings. Because the two had pushed through the crowd into the square, the people waiting on the outskirts grew even more restless.

"This plan is way too dangerous..." Doctor Zhao said with lingering fear. "Brother, you're out of your mind... You shouldn't have come. Now that you're here, you might not be able to leave."

"Don't worry," Han Yi Mo said. "The protagonist in a story is hard to beat. Even if it looks like he's losing on the surface, he's winning behind the scenes."

"Ah...?"

"But... what's the plan exactly?" Han Yi Mo asked. "And what's with this chaotic weather?"

He noticed that the small space in the square was experiencing all kinds of severe weather at once. "Zhong Yan Zhi Di" rarely even had wind, so how could there be thick fog and heavy rain?

"They want to destroy the giant bell and the display screen..." Doctor Zhao replied with a frown. "All sorts of 'Hui Xiang' are targeting that thing now... But that Bai Hu old man is blocking the way, so they've switched to attacking him..."

Doctor Zhao quickly explained the current situation to Han Yi Mo, but Han Yi Mo froze for a moment and soon showed signs of panic.

"What's wrong with you...?" Doctor Zhao asked, noticing Han Yi Mo's unease. "Don't overthink it... They're figuring something out..."

"That 'Bai Hu'... Isn't he on the same level as 'Xuan Wu'?" Han Yi Mo asked. "Are you saying we're all attacking Bai Hu right now?"

"Pretty much," Doctor Zhao nodded. "We didn't have to attack him originally, but he's blocking the 'Ji Dao' members."

"Oh no..." Han Yi Mo's expression changed. "This doesn't feel right. How did the plot move so fast? This big battle's happening, and I, the protagonist, haven't even gotten involved much... Where's the buildup? The emotional tension?"

"What are you talking about?" Xiao Xiao asked with a furrowed brow.

Lin Geng shook his head beside her and said to Han Yi Mo, "How haven't you gotten involved? You're in it now, aren't you?"

"Uh... yeah..." Han Yi Mo said, then remembered something else. "Wait, no! If those people attack Bai Hu, it'll drag us down too!!"

"Drag us down...?" Doctor Zhao looked at Han Yi Mo. "What do you mean?"

"Xuan Wu!!" Han Yi Mo shouted. "That woman called Xuan Wu seems to handle 'violations.' Doesn't attacking Bai Hu count as a violation for these 'participants'?"

Zheng Yingxiong frowned at those words, sensing a strong whiff of "inviting disaster."

"Xuan Wu will come!" Han Yi Mo yelled. "If they don't stop... Xuan Wu will definitely come!!"
