Chapter 1113: Destruction Begins

Tong Yi grabbed Lao Lü's arm, skirted around the crowd to the wall, and said with a nervous expression, "Oh yo, why did you come here?"

"I can't come?" Lao Lü glanced around at the people nearby. "Xiao Chan, what are you all here for? Is this some kind of mission for Tian Tang Kou? And who are these people?"

"Lao Lü... oh yo... it's hard for me to explain!" Tong Yi said. "Anyway, this place is really dangerous. You need to leave first."

"I'm not leaving!" Lao Lü said. "Didn't we agree to tell each other everything? You..."

Tong Yi's face suddenly looked a bit unnatural. She quickly reached out and grabbed Lao Lü's arm, cutting him off. "Hey!" she whispered, "There are so many kids here... just don't..."

"Is it Mu Shen who's making you hide this from me?" Lao Lü asked. "This is such a big scene... and there's that strange white-bearded old man guarding the front. You even said this place looks dangerous, but you came here quietly anyway?"

"This has nothing to do with Mu Shen!" Tong Yi frowned and said, "To be honest... Lao Lü, Mu Shen never hinted that you would appear in my life... Our relationship isn't protected by Mu Shen."

"What kind of Mu Shen protection are you talking about..." Lao Lü said, "Doesn't Mu Shen know that my name is Lü Fengxian and yours is Xiao Chan? Aren't we meant for each other?"

"You..." Tong Yi's face grew increasingly upset. "How can you be so shameless... Do you even know what's happening right now? And we're both at this age... Who cares about our relationship? There are more important things to do!"

"I don't care..." Lao Lü said. "Xiao Chan, this time you have to take me with you. I can definitely help out."

"Stop messing around!!" Tong Yi was clearly getting angry. "We can keep each other company here... but don't you know that once we leave, everything in Zhong Nian Zhi Di will disappear?"

"I don't care about all that!!" Lao Lü said. "My old partner is gone, and all these years I've only remembered us depending on each other. So this time, no matter what, I'm going to help you. Just tell me what we need to do!"

"You..."

"Attention to all participants and Sheng Xiao involved in this operation."

The two were about to say more when a massive voice suddenly boomed from the sky.

This voice seemed different from Yan Zhichun's Mo Yin Tian Jiang—not only was the speaker's tone different, but the way it spread was too.

If Mo Yin Tian Jiang echoed in everyone's ears like a convincing whisper, this booming voice crashed down like thunder from above.

"This is an emergency broadcast for a temporary reward. Please make sure to remember it carefully."

The people around them all looked up, trying to pinpoint the source of the massive voice, but they couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

"Right now, a group of rebels has appeared in the southern square of the entire city. They're attempting to destroy the giant clock and display screens in the city. Anyone who can stop this rebellion—whether Sheng Xiao or participants—will receive a reward of one thousand Dao."

Yan Zhichun and Jiang Ruoxue frowned upon hearing the booming voice. They had expected this mission to be tough, but not this tough.

"You Sheng Xiao didn't hear wrong. Starting now, as Tian Niu, I authorize all of you to temporarily leave your posts, and I guarantee your safety. One thousand Dao are already prepared, to be given only to the team or individual who ultimately succeeds in stopping them. Good luck."

All the Ji Dao Zhe present started showing troubled expressions. What made them even more anxious was that there were already signs of movement nearby.

After all, one thousand Dao was nearly a third of the escape goal for ordinary people—a massive reward they might not get even after dozens of cycles.

"From now on, most of the people coming here will be Hui Xiang Zhe with retained memories," Yan Zhichun said gravely. "There might be a few innocent participants just here for the spectacle. Looks like we need to make an example."

"Tsk, participants are one thing, but what about the Sheng Xiao?" Zhou Mo asked.

"Sheng Xiao aren't a big threat," Yan Zhichun said. "The reward of one thousand Dao will only attract Ren Ji Sheng Xiao. After all, Yang Ge told me that Di Ji Sheng Xiao don't need Dao at all."

As they were speaking, a crowd began to gather not far away. They hadn't expected the so-called "rebels" to be so numerous—over a hundred strong.

Many of the stragglers who had just arrived could only stand back and watch, but everyone knew the numbers would keep growing, and a full assault was just a matter of time.

"Let's strike first while we can," Yan Zhichun said. "Everyone's first target is the display screen! Grab the mission objective before the participants fully assemble!"

No sooner had he spoken than one of the Ji Dao Zhe rushed forward a few steps, waved his hands, and summoned a massive windstorm out of nowhere. Countless grains of sand and pebbles pelted the display screen with a rattling noise.

Bai Hu's face turned cold as he extended his hand, releasing a bizarre gust of wind from his sleeve that instantly swept away the sandstorm.

The force of the wind was overwhelming; the people nearest to it were lifted half a meter off the ground and thrown down in a heap.

On the rooftop, Jiang Shihe raised his hand slightly to block the sand from his eyes and murmured, "It's Jing Feng."

More and more Ji Dao Zhe began using their Hui Xiang to attack the giant clock and display screen.

However, most of their Hui Xiang only caused minor damage to the display screen, nothing substantial.

Just then, an exceptionally overweight girl stepped forward. She clasped her swollen hands together, and a Hui Xiang called Peng Zhang appeared on the display screen.

A creaking sound followed, and one of the massive metal pillars supporting the display screen began to crack, as if expanding from the inside.

Bai Hu sensed trouble and waved both hands, unleashing a gale beyond human limits straight at her face. Her skin rippled in waves.

"Xiao Xiao...!" the girl shouted.

Xiao Xiao, in the distance, understood immediately. She closed her eyes, pointed toward the crowd of approaching participants, and activated her Hui Xiang called Jia Huo.

In an instant, the hurricane pressing on the overweight girl vanished, and instead, the distant crowd of participants was blown into the air.

With the overweight girl's attack stabilizing, Yan Zhichun dashed through the swirling wind and sand toward Doctor Zhao.

"Doctor Zhao!" Yan Zhichun called. "Do you see what's happening now?! We don't have much time!"

Doctor Zhao remained standing there in a daze, as if he hadn't snapped out of it since earlier.
