Chapter 1110: Everyone's Joys and Sorrows

After listening to Xuanwu's answer, Qi Xia realized that she didn't even have the desire to be saved.

Some people are like that—if they escape, all that awaits them is an even more terrifying hell.

"If you want to die here... then stand up now," Qi Xia said. "Do you really want to crawl around here in complete darkness, just as Qinglong said?"

"I... I can't," Xuanwu replied in a faint voice. "From the moment I set foot on this land, only one of Qinglong and I could survive."

"If killing you would set you free, I'd be willing to do it," Qi Xia said. "Come with me and get out of here."

"Then..." Xuanwu turned her face, looking at Qi Xia with her ethereal features. "Where should I go...?"

"Go and continue enforcing the 'Guize'," Qi Xia said. "Don't leave any regrets in your heart."

"Guize..."

"Do everything you want to do," Qi Xia said. "Go and experience the joys and sorrows of every person in the 'Zhongyan Zhidi'."

After hearing this, Xuanwu trembled all over again, then slowly straightened her body as if being pulled by some force, murmuring repeatedly:

"Every person's joys and sorrows—"

"Yes, judge the joys and sorrows of every person from your own perspective," Qi Xia said. "They are trapped in this land, no different from you in essence—they just want to escape."

Xuanwu slowly turned around, as if looking at Qi Xia with her own eyes.

"They can't get out or leave," Qi Xia said. "You know the 'Guize' controls them, but you've been oppressed by the 'Guize' your whole life—so why become its enforcer here?"

"Even if I don't enforce the 'Guize', someone else will step up," Xuanwu said. "Qinglong promised that if I did, I wouldn't feel hunger, pain, or fatigue, so I stepped up."

"But part of your rationality has been taken away," Qi Xia said. "It's hard for you to understand, but I have to tell you the truth. Qinglong won't let you go—he won't let you die."

"Is that so..." Xuanwu seemed to think of something. "Even though I've done everything he asked... he still won't let me die?"

"The less rational a person is, the easier they are to control," Qi Xia said. "Not only can you completely obey Qinglong's orders, but you also have an extraordinary 'belief'—that makes you his best weapon."

"I..."

"So he'll squeeze every bit of value out of you," Qi Xia continued. "Maybe you'll keep helping him until one day everyone in the 'Zhongyan Zhidi' is dead, and your body is still wandering here."

Xuanwu paused slightly after hearing this, then slowly walked to the side, bent down, and picked up her own arm.

That arm was as pitch-black as the rest of her body.

Qi Xia felt that Xuanwu's back looked especially desolate, as if she were accepting something she had never encountered before.

She tucked the arm under her armpit, then broke off a section of spine from the ground and suddenly jammed it into her severed shoulder.

After doing all this, she turned back and held out her arm to Qi Xia. "Can you help me?"

Qi Xia understood immediately, nodded, and stepped forward to take Xuanwu's arm.

How to describe the feeling that arm gave Qi Xia?

It had no temperature, neither warm nor cool; it had no texture, neither soft nor hard; it even had no weight—like holding a handful of water underwater, you could sense its presence but not pinpoint where it was.

"Excuse me."

With that, Qi Xia lifted Xuanwu's arm, aligned it with the "interface," and firmly pressed it onto the protruding spine.

A strange sound rang out—"Sizzle"—

It wasn't like flesh or plants; it was more like space being torn apart.

A moment later, Xuanwu moved her forcibly reattached arm and found that although its motion was oddly awkward, at least it was back in place.

"Thank you," Xuanwu said.

"Does a 'Can Yu Zhe' helping a 'Shen Shou' count as a violation?" Qi Xia asked.

Xuanwu hesitated, as if stumped by the question.

"Does a 'Shen Shou' saying 'thank you' to a 'Can Yu Zhe' count as a violation?" Qi Xia asked again.

"I don't know," Xuanwu replied.

"It doesn't matter," Qi Xia said. "In your silence, your heart already has the answer. Everyone in this world has answers to everything; it's just a matter of whether they're willing to admit it."

Xuanwu wanted to say something more but ultimately just nodded.

"I'll continue to guard the 'Guize'," Xuanwu said. "I hope this time it really lets me die."

"I hope you can really die too," Qi Xia said, looking Xuanwu up and down. "You've suffered enough to atone for all your sins."

"I'm so tired."

After saying that, Xuanwu brushed past Qi Xia and headed toward the "Kui Tao" gate.

At that moment, Qi Xia looked up again at the sky, where countless "doors" hung in the darkness.

It seemed the space on the "Lieck Che" could be utilized in many ways.

Or perhaps... only when these spaces are used do they become part of the "Lieck Che".

Unfortunately, Qi Xia knew she couldn't fly, so the high-up "doors" were out of reach—but now wasn't the time to think about that.

After Xuanwu left, Qi Xia followed and exited the area.

...

Yan Zhichun led Zhao Yisheng quickly along the road, and soon they saw more and more people lining the sides.

These people were dressed differently, each looking like a battle-hardened veteran, standing along the road as if waiting for something.

None of them seemed to recognize Yan Zhichun or Zhao Yisheng; they just stared at the pair with complex expressions.

"Yan Zhichun... how many of you are there...?" Zhao Yisheng asked, a hint of doubt in his voice.

"I've told you, I don't even know myself," Yan Zhichun replied.

She walked ahead, enduring the gazes of all the unfamiliar "Ji Dao Zhe", as the crowd parted to make way for her.

Before they reached the end of the road, the massive display screen and bronze bell came into view.

Countless people stood nearby in silence, nearly a hundred of them by estimation.

"Hey, little sister..."

A familiar voice rang out nearby, and Lao Sun pushed through the crowd to stand before Yan Zhichun.

"You're here too?"

"Lao Sun," Yan Zhichun nodded. "Take me to see Jiang Ruoxue and Zhoumo."

"They've been waiting for you for a while," Lao Sun said. "Come with me."

Lao Sun led the way, guiding Yan Zhichun forward, while Zhao Yisheng fell into a daze.

He had thought this was just a straightforward job—after all, Yan Zhichun had said it only involved "destroying something".

But given the current situation... how could it be that simple?
